The device has clearly barely done through any QC at all. The phone application has probably some of the worst UX I've seen in years. It's extremely unintuitive. The company makes zero effort to change that. A simple video showcasing how to install the device would've easily made up for the lack of instructions in the box and the terrible directions in the phone app. Also why the heck do I have to sign up and make an account to even be able to think about installing the device? Also it has to always be connected to you phone or it doesn't work because your phone acts as the bridge between the adapter and the scent unit. It's unnecessarily complicated. I personally wouldn't have minded a wired connection between them if wireless cannot be done so I can remove the phone from the equation. The only straightforward thing about the device was deleting the account I made before returning the device which only required the clock of a single button in the app. The scents are strong and can easily fill the room but most of them don't smell anything like they're supposed to, except for storm and forest perhaps. They also have this sickly sweet smell to them that I personally found a little nauseating. But even if the scents aren't to your liking and maybe you'd like to formulate your own custom scents, the damn thing doesn't work. The AI has no idea what is going on. I was shooting a gun in Titanfall 2 and it didn't spray the gunfire scent even once over the period of an entire hour. Neither HDMI nor the Audio options work The passthrough adapter is cheaply made. The adapter adds a ton of low end noise and pulsing when passing audio through it. Even if you wanted to suffer through that for the experience, it just never worked so there was no point to it. The device is clearly untested and it seems to me they just want the customers to be their QA instead because I cannot fathom how they even release the product without even trying it out a few times themselves as most of the issues are pretty self evident when you try to use the device. Unless of course they are aware of this and are still selling the product, in which case that's just plain malicious. The device requires more than just a "final polishing" to be even considered for purchase. It's quite clearly still an alpha product masquerading as a polished final product. DO NOT BUY. Infact I wouldn't want this device even if you PAID me money.

This product does exactly what it says it does and they've already updated the firmware to make it even more effective. My one complaint is that the 3.5mm jack lowers my audio quality if I use it as an adapter, but that was easily solved by just using an audio splitter. On release I had a few issues with scents not automatically releasing, but after I talked to the devs in the official Discord server, they had a fix for it within the day and now it works perfectly. Highly recommended for adding some extra immersion to your gaming experience, and I really can't speak highly enough about the responsiveness of the developers.

Everything about this product feels like it was made in someone's garage. From the janky app and instructions inside it to the inconsistencies on the product itself (some oil containers are labeled while others are blank?), it's obvious this is a beta product being tested by unsuspecting consumers. Pros: - Scents are strong enough to fill a room, and for the most part, they smell like whatever they're trying to mimic. - The adapter surprisingly supports 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos pass-through. Cons: - The adapter doesn't support 120 Hz, ALLM, or VRR. The 120 Hz isn't as big a deal, but the lack of ALLM and VRR support is a cardinal sin, especially for a gaming accessory being sold in 2024. - The setup process is needlessly overly complicated. The only instructions are inside the app, for which you need to make an account just to use. - During my time with the unit, I simply could not get it to work as advertised. I spent hours (HOURS!) setting everything up, and, while I could manually trigger the scents from the app, the unit never worked on its own. I was using this on an Xbox Series X with a bunch of different games, including Destiny 2, Forza Horizon, Call of Duty, and Diablo IV. After more than an hour playing each game, the unit never automatically fired a scent once. - Everything about the unit just feels cheap. From the cheap plastic materials to the inconsistently filled oil bottles, the whole package was just laughably amateurish. In short, this is a great idea with awful execution. Hopefully the final product will be better than this janky beta.

Ah, the 'Gamescent,' a gadget that promised to sprinkle my gaming sessions with a potpourri of virtual aromas. Yet, it turned out to be more of an olfactory misadventure. It's like expecting a symphony and getting a kazoo concert instead. Here's the scoop on this scent-sational fiasco. First, unraveling the Gamescent setup is akin to solving a Rubik's cube blindfolded. It's Bluetooth-enabled, sporting a singular, ambitiously short USB power cable as if it's daring you to play "catch me if you can" across your gaming setup. The device itself is a free spirit, untethered by wires, except for the life-giving USB umbilical cord that it cannot live without. Then there's the accessory, a Frankenstein's monster cobbled together from the dreams of connectivity: it converses with your phone, flirts with Bluetooth, winks at your WiFi, and demands a USB power source like it's going out of style. This little box of tricks can juggle HDMI or a 2.5mm jack for audio input, sporting outputs for both, yet, tragically, the 2.5mm jack delivers a performance filled with more clicks and feedback than an impatient telemarketer. Refusing to let HDMI into my life like a digital vampire, I found myself playing technological Twister. I turned to my high-end microphone, coaxing Windows to "listen to this device" and redirect its whispers to the front USB audio. The Gamescent accessory, nestled in the front audio port, became the unintended audience of this digital soliloquy. The end result? A 'best of the worst' accolade. It's like buying a luxury car that only drives in reverse. The Gamescent's noble attempt at adding a fragrant layer to my gaming was overshadowed by its more aromatic issues. Its companion app is the device's saving grace, allowing for a bouquet of six scents that can turn any gaming cave into a luxury spa, minus the tranquility and plus the noise. And a word on those built-in cables—dear Gamescent, making them longer wouldn't just be an improvement; it'd be a gesture of goodwill to gamers everywhere, a sign that you understand our struggles with spatial arrangements. In summary, the Gamescent is akin to an ambitious chef who promises a feast for the senses but forgets to turn on the oven. The concept? Revolutionary. The execution? Well, let's just say it's a work in progress. It sits on my shelf now, less a beacon of futuristic gaming and more an overqualified air freshener that occasionally reminds me of the forest, gunfire, and racecars—albeit with a side of electronic despair.

I must say this is a must have for a TRUE!! gamer. The installation I did it for my setup for over 20 gaming consoles and it works for all of my consoles. I had this over 4 months with any issues at all. The install wasn't hard at all. I just had to do for my setup. The app is a plus for updates and all. You can disable the unit through the app as well. I waited so long to make this review. To make sure this was as good as I thought. Yes !! It is. (PS) Look at the last 6 photos those are the Scents. Remember over (4) months ? using look what still left. I haven't purchased any refills yet. The game I was playing PS5 Suicide Squad: Kill the justice league

Assembly 1/10 First You need to use App to acces the "guide" which sucks. Also Make an account Steps.. 1. You connect the receiver to the console or tv, through a usb. And the usb-c end into the receiver 2. Connect the hdmi from your console or tv into your receiver and connect a small hdmi cable that you get into the receiver "Again" into your console or tv. (Makes your console look trash cause it hangs from the back and you need it in front or on the side) has an option of audio or hdmi so if you go for the aux cables and splitters which the Instructions don't even show how they will work.. or what to do with them at all lol. luckily made it work. Once again the instructions are poop 3. Bottled scents.. ¡WEAR GLOVES! in this part!! You remove the cap on the main device.. and turns out you're just putting the bottles of the smells inside.. theres these lids/caps that are on the box you take out which you will screw them onto the bottles. The bottled scents... just have a Cap on and no seal to stop them from leaking..so they leaked inside the boxes they come in. Unfortunately my fingers got all the scents cause they leaked onto the bottles.. when I was opening and carefully putting the lids/caps on XD and eughhhh I couldn't wash the smells away. Took a whole day. 4.(Final part) Connections Everything has to be powered on and made sure it behaves like the guide says so It can be paired through Bluetooth. Which then they require you to connect to wifi. Idk how it works or why it took forever, had to have my phone super close to each item that needed to sync up 😭 ☠️SMELLs (review) ☠️ (You can actiavte smells individualy through the app) Jesus, the 1. gunfire 2. Explosion 3. Racing smell so strong and bad. Like beef jerkey and burnt leather combined. The smells sticks into your room and nose. Had to have my window open cause mannnn. 4. The storm and 5.forest smell "good: its too strong though. Its basically febreeze 6. Remove smells, is another febreeze smell 💀. Functionality, 1/5 Reacted to Rain cutscenes and activated the storm smell. Aaaaand explosion for some reason. ☠️ Was then in a Desert 🏜 level and it would keep spraying storm and gunfire or explosion once. Or the smell was just lingering from earlier.. lol. Anyways the storm kept spraying when nothing was going on in the screen or when i was in a house with no plants or anything to cause such scent to start. Tried a racing game and again. The storm one worked cause it rained. Racing smell never worked . Just gave up on it. Final words, trash and still a prototype. It's like those wall febreeze that spray every once in a while.. but "gaming" and AI That never worked.. with many cables and bunch of useless wires going here and there.

It's exactly what you're thinking - a new and updated version of Smell-O-Vision that works with your favorite video games! It took me a while to figure out the setup and get everything connected and updated with the latest firmware. However, once I got it set up, I tested it out while playing Jedi: Survivor on my PC, and it was an incredible experience. You can now smell the fresh air when stepping outside from your ship or a building. Then smelling the explosion scent after a ship crashes down and blows up around you is pretty wild. Overall, it really adds to your gaming experience and brings it to the next level. I'm excited to try it with other games and movies, and I'm looking forward to the additional scents they are working on.
