I'm very impressed with how effectively these bags remove bad odors in my shoes. I tried multiple different methods, including putting them in my washing machine and dryer. Nothing worked until I came across these Bamboo Charcoal Air Purifying bags. If there is a secret, it is to remove the insoles, place one small charcoal bag in each shoe/sneaker and one bigger bag on top of the insoles. I leave them like this for 2-3 days, because I can rotate shoes. However, it seems to also work overnight once you have removed the initial bad odor. Would I buy these again? Absolutely! Look, I've got 4 cats. No shame man! Two of these Lil monsters have musty excrements, ya dig me. Just gross! And I live in a 1 BR apt. I'm very clean for the most part but, you know, as the litter gets used, the air starts to feel a lil sour. I absolutely CANNOT have my home SMELLING like a crazy cat lady lives here, despite that being partially true. So I put these bad boys in the area where the litter boxes are. 3 of the big ones around the room (2 right next to the litter box, 1 a few feet away). 2 each of the small ones on top of the litter box filter vent. These do help pull quite a bit of odor out. We bought a house that was smoked in for 40+ years and they never opened a window . There is still a smoke smell and we are repainting walls and floors but these pull some of the odor. So I recommend for closets and to help with slight odors.
