I needed to replace the backup camera on my car because it was fogging up but I didn't want the hassle of removing the old camera and pass new wires. The solar4b is a snap to install: just plug-in the monitor in the 12v outlet in your car and place the magnetic camera in the back... that's it! The image quality is very good with a wide view, fast refresh rate and no glitches. The night vision is excellent. It's been very cold outside (-20ºC) and the camera/monitor still perform perfectly. I've used this setup for a few weeks and the camera battery has held up good, still showing full as of today. The magnet on the camera is very strong so I'm not afraid it will fall even on rough roads. I also have the original Solar4 on my camper van and it's been performing very well so I'm confident the new Solar4b will also be excellent.     • Simple backup, Easy installation!
I have been using this camera in my work truck to test it out, but I bought it to use on my a skid steer. Being small and having a magnet, it's easy to swap from one vehicle to another. The magnet sticks strong to the tailgate. The camera seems very solid so I it should be able to take a beating. The view is great considering the price and ease of installation. Really, it's just a matter of sticking the camera to something metal and mounting and plugging in the screen to a 12v cigarette lighter outlet. Mounting the screen is simple and comes with a few different options. Plug and Play. The 5" screen may sound small but its just right for this setup. Compared to some rearview mirror small square displays, it is big. Also, it doesn't block your view like the bigger screens. One thing that I like is that the camera can be set to go off in 1 minute, 4 minutes or stay on. When it goes off and you need to bring it back up, just press one of 3 buttons on the side of the screen and it immediately comes on. Using it like this, you wont even need a solar panel. The battery lasts a long time when set to go off in 4 minutes. The parking lines can be disabled also. For what you pay, it really is clear and the night vision works great. ... show more

I haven't installed this in my car yet but it is the exact same camera as the Solar4 system that I have, only the monitor is smaller 5", while my Solar4 is 7". The smaller monitor will fit better in my car. I have charged the camera and hooked it up inside to be sure it works. I have been very happy with this camera, have one on the back of my Toyhauler RV and a magnetic mount one inside to watch my motorcycle while we are traveling. I can easily remove it to put on the back of my truck. I am quite pleased with Auto-Vox products, camera battery lasts a long time and monitor has a good clear picture. ... show more
