My check engine light came on after one of my air filters fell off, triggering the check engine. Bought this for the 2018 Jag and was able to read the codes and clear them. I am no expert with this, and it has many features, but for my use as an amateur DYI mechanic, it works great. Comes in a nice zip nylon bag that keeps it dry to store in the trunk. The system works fine. You can navigate around the system, read codes, and watch some live data. But that's really it. And don't even think about saving or printing the data. To do that you need to use the MaxiLink2 software which is the worst PC app ever devised. First it gives you dire warnings about the need to update your software, but no instructions on how to do it. Wandering around the Autel website finally turns up a download, which will then brick your device unless you manage to know how to perform a reset and load _both_ files. And oh yeah, the update is the exact same stuff as is already on your tool, so the dire warnings to update your system persist even after updating. Then to top it off, the print function can't see any data to print ever. Best advice is to use your phone to take pictures of the screen as you try live tests. ... show more

Bought this unite to know the codes when that Check Engine idiot light comes on. When the light finally did come on, It was past the return window. I downloaded the software Maxi-Link II but could not find the program file and the DTC file to update the device. Why can't this thing be plug an play? Why can't the device just say what the problem is, and not some useless code: $ 7EB? Big waste of money. Tomorrow I will need to make an appointment with the repair shop. ... show more
