Equipped with only a recommendation I purchase this headphone over the Equipped with only a recommendation I purchase this headphone over the HD 490 Pro plus for COD competitiveness. Not only for its appearance, durability and quality but for performance. However this did not translate to gaming. Until I tried it for myself. After using these headphones for a few days I noticed a dramatic improvement in sound quality in cod: mw3. Not only was I able to hear the direction of opponent's footsteps I was able to hear them reloading and firing when hidden in a corner. Opponent audio cues are slightly different from your teammates. Something I didnt know until I used the AR5000! I did not hear this difference in other iems like the Tea 2, Orchestra Lite, Hype 4 and other headphones like the Sennheiser 598se, 560, etc. Be mindful that the orchestra lite is one of the most recommended iems for gaming. VERTICALITY: Although not as prevalent in 6v6 Versus Warzone I was able to know when enemies were in a room through an open window. SEPARATION: One of the best I've heard so far. In 6 V6 you can hear gunshots of multiple people, streaks going off, people talking in chat. I can still tell the direction of opponent's audio cue in a 6v6 maps. Something that I could not do with other iems and headphones that I've tried. RESOLUTION: Clarity is exceptional for the ar5000. Even when there's other audio clutter (ambient noise, etc). What I want to hear I can hear it. Like opponent audio cues. From my experience the orchestra lite's are the most muddy when it comes to resolution in cod. IMAGING: Simply the best. No if ands or buts. I've tried other iems and headphones that I didn't own and do own. The ar5000 differentiate opponent gunshots, reloading, foosteps, etc. Everything else I've tried so far only seems to do well with just footstep audio. For example I can hear two gunshots. With the ar5000 I know one is my opponent to the left and my team rate to the right. I instinctually know to go to the left to take out the opponent. SOUND STAGE: Is one of the best that I've heard so far. And compared to the tea 2, Orchestra lite, hype 4, 598 se, 560, etc they are the most accurate. Some of the others are either accurate but muddy. Although it's pinpoint the resolution is bad. Or too forward. Which means that it makes the opponent audio sound closer then they actually are. I did not realize how bad a forward sound stage versus having a soundstage that is too wide. Too wide means that opponent audio is simply further away than they actually are. But in this case being too forward means that they have yet to come. It makes opponent audio sound like they're right around the corner. But when you get the jump on them they're visually 5-10 steps further away from the door, corner, window, steps, etc then you initially heard through positional audio. This makes the ar5000 very accurate, sharp and clear for positional audio cues. CAVEATS: I do this with all other headphones and iem's I've tried. I use GT's audio profile EQ and AiW Warzone Audio Setup on PC. Using either Home Theater or Cinematic in COD Audio Section. All using a DAC/AMP combo. The Headphone, HP Boost, PC Speaker Options in COD doesn't have enough separation between the gun shoots and foosteps versus all other audio cues in the match. HIGHLY IMPORTANT WAY TO WEAR THE AR5000: There is a particular way that you have to put these headphones on. Once the ear cups are over your ears slide the ear cups forward until it stops or you meet resistance. Which is towards your nose or mouth area. Due to the angle of the drivers this provides optimum soundstage. FINAL CONCLUSION: Overall the AR5000 is very comfortable. However it's questionable about the ear cup modability. It is the only detractor versus the HD 490 Pro Plus that I found so far. However, I have not found a reason to change the ear cups on this headphone. I have not found a need to adjust it yet. Out the box they fit me just fine. So adjustability is a plus for me. However, It's ability to allow you to hear the audio cues that you need to hear in a competitive first person shooter like COD is phenomenally exceptional. For the price point versus other MORE EXSPENSIVE iems and headphones that can do similarly. I cannot recommend this ar5000 enough.

First off, I'm not a crazy audiophile but I have been into audio and recording for 30 years. I own Hifiman Ananda, Sennheiser HD6xx, Sony MDR-7506, Moondrop Kato IEMs, and now these. I listen through a fully balanced setup starting from my desktop gaming PC into an Aune S9c DAC/Amp and an Xduoo MT-604 tube amp. I just received these in the mail today and just got done with about a 2 hour listening session including the entire 50th Anniversary remastered Dark Side of the Moon album. My brief impressions so far will be focused on how these compare to the HD6xx... First off, unboxing them feels like a premium experience, much more so than HD 6xx or than the price would suggest. The headphone itself also looks and feels premium. Its light, but not as light as the HD6xx. They are also extremely comfortable, however be warned that if you have a small head, you might have a problem with these. My hat size is 7.25 (I think) and these are on the smallest setting on my head. On top of that, there is very little clamp force. The 6xx have FAR more clamp. This adds to the overall comfort but truth be told I would prefer a little more clamp, any sudden head movements do cause these to shift and may even fall off. Maybe I have a narrow head but I don't think so. Still, they feel very nice on my head, the pads are great too. There have been a lot of comparisons to the HD6xx and I see why. Aune engineers CLEARLY used the 6xx as a baseline for tuning the frequency response of these. They are so similar that I am using almost identical EQ settings for these as I do for my 6xx. However, there are differences that are immediately noticeable. First of all, I actually think these are more well tuned out of the box than the 6xx, at least to my preference. These without question have more low end than the 6xx (bass). They also accept more low end boost via EQ than the 6xx, although I didn't find it necessary to boost more than 4 db under 100 Hz. As far as mids and highs go, they are spectacular, and very similar to the 6xx. I actually cut a few frequencies out of the lower mids and boosted them a little around 12 kHz, neither of which I do with the 6xx, but thats just what I felt suited these. These EQ corrections are all very small, less than 1 db. Truthfully, the out of the box tuning of these is pretty much spot on. The biggest difference between these and the 6xx, and biggest reason to buy them over the 6xx, is without question the soundstage and imaging. They are flat out better, no question about it. The stage isn't as expansive as my Hifimans, but it really doesn't need to be. I find them to be a great middle ground between the 6xx and Ananda. I haven't spent any real time gaming with them yet, but I tried them briefly and could tell immediately that I'm going to prefer them for gaming. I can't really get more specific than that right now. So far I'm happy with these and I think anyone would be hard pressed to find something to complain about, especially at the price point. I wouldn't say I find these "mind blowing", but I do agree with a lot of other reviewers in that they are a very good "upgrade" from the 6xx, and without costing that much more. If you love the 6xx as I do, these are a really safe bet. All in all another winner from Aune.

If the AUNE AR5000 were a medieval hero, it would ride onto the battlefield in a suit of shining steel, but with a velvet cloak fluttering behind it — a resolute warrior with an unexpectedly suave side. This is an open-back, dynamic-driver headphone built for folks who refuse to let their eardrums languish in mediocrity, whether you’re a hard-core audiophile or someone whose last “upgrade” was a pair of gas station earbuds. 🔎 Hardware & Build Quality Driver: 50mm dynamic carbon-fiber diaphragm Impedance: 32Ω (easy to drive, no kingly amp required) Sensitivity: 108 dB/mW Weight: about 330 grams (firm but not brick-heavy) Construction: lightweight aluminum alloy with plush protein leather earpads — but despite the metal yokes, the actual hinge/pivot holding the driver is fragile plastic. Mine snapped clean in two the first time they fell from my desk onto a hard floor. I’ve babied these from day one, they were my first audiophile headphones, my favorite, and I had an emotional attachment to them. This was heartbreaking and unacceptable at $300. Update: I love the sound on my AR5000, but there's definitely a design flaw with the plastic couplers that attach the headphones to the frame. Mine snapped in the same way you have seen posted by numerous other people. The company sent me out a new pair under warranty. They said the materials had been improved, but it's the same design and plastic as the originals as far as I can tell. Those couplers should be made out of metal, and not plastic, for sure. Here's how I avoid snapping the couplers now: When I put the headphones on or take them off, I slide my middle finger under the frame and pull outwards from there instead of grabbing and pulling the driver area. This puts the stress on the frame (which isn't prone to breaking at all) instead of the plastic couplers, which can easily break from normal use. It's a very unfortunate flaw/Achilles' Heel with otherwise fantastic headphones. I have no idea why the company won't address this problem since a simple material change on a small but critical component would solve it. I would absolutely buy a 3rd party replacement couplers made out of metal to make sure I could keep using my AR5000 headphones for many more years to come. I'm keeping mt 5-star rating because the company did help me and I love these headphones so much. However, Aune (or someone) needs to release metal frame couplers for these. --- Sound quality: AR5000 offer a very smooth and pleasurable listening experience. They are well balanced across the entire audio range. I use them for music, gaming and watching movies. They provide a very detailed and impactful midrange. Bass is ample and very clean. Treble is also detailed and never unpleasant. Coming from closed back headphones, I have been appreciating the much wider soundstage on the AR5000. I often listen to tracks that I've been listening to for thirty or forty years and think, "I never heard that before," with these headphones. I had been using Beyerdynamic DT770 80ohm for many years. I know, the AR5000 are totally different headphones, but here's what I was doing to DT770 to make them sound good to me. I had to EQ the bass and treble down and boost the midrange. I tried to flatten out their V shape tuning. I still think they sound pretty good that way, even though they weren't designed to produce a flatter sound. But with AR5000, the increased detail and soundstage are very noticeable upgrades. I don't EQ the AR5000 at all. I love them how they sound right out of the box. Before I bought the AR5000, I was researching going to Sennheiser HD 600, but I was concerned about their lack of bass, which most reviewers mention. I was seeing AR5000 mentioned as being reminiscent of HD 600, but with more bass. I have not personally compared them, but I don't feel like I need more bass with the AR5000. If you get these and still want more bass, I have experimented with adding between 1 and 3dB to bands under 100hz with EQ and these can easily give you more if you want it. I initially considered EQing a permanent slight bump in bass, but after over a year with these, I've left them flat. Build: Light weight. Premium materials. Look and feel premium. Lots of adjustment range. I have a huge head and these easily fit me with a lot of room to spare. (For reference, I wear DT770 with the forks pulled all the way out.) Comfort: These are extremely comfortable. I wear them for many hours per day. All headphones I've ever tried before have had way too much clamp force. Not AR5000. They feel great. I wish the ear cups were slightly deeper, but it's not something you're likely to notice. If you want to swap pads, it's very easy. Anything that fits on DT770 will fit the AR5000. I've tried a few different pads, looking to get deeper clearance for my ears, but the sound on the stock pads was best overall, so I kept using them. Cable: Finally, Aune should be commended for using standard 3.5mm inputs for the AR5000. The included cable is excellent. Overall: AR5000 are fantastic. Highly recommended.

I'd give them a 4 overall, but personally I dislike the color and would rate them 3.5 for it if I could. Sound is an extremely subjective topic. I like V and U shaped sound signatures with exciting bass and a little sparkle in the highs, just so long as vocals don't sound muddy. I like these, though I run them through a Zen DAC and Zen CAN and utilize XBass and XSpace on the Zen CAN, TrueBass on the DAC is a bit too much for these to handle. Both at the same time and these would probably rupture, though few headphones can survive both at the same time. For the price they're comfortable, and sound pretty good. I'd wait for a sale rather than pay full price as they are decently pricey. I didn't use the cable provided, ran them on a 4.4 cable I got with a pair of FiiO/Jade Audio headphones that is my favorite cable. So with a bit of a bass boost these sound good, they fit comfortably. Between the two I'd give them a thumbs up at sale price. Let's talk about the two things I don't like: I personally think the color is unattractive, but that's just me and another subjective topic. The thing that bothers me the most about these headphones is that they -feel- cheap, it might be a lightweight alloy or a plastic/metal polymer but in the hand it feels like cheap brittle plastic that will creak, chip, and crack without a significant level of delicate handling. Unfortunately that sentiment extends to all of the moving parts. This is just how it feels in hand and I could be completely wrong, but it feels like if I was standing and these fell off my head, dropped 6 feet, they'd be broken and unusable. The price point is a delicate balancing act between a pleasing sound signature and a cheap feeling build quality. With everything getting more and more expensive this price point might once have been "expensive" but anymore this price point is the somewhere in the lower end of mid-range headphones. As such I'd give these a hesitant recommendation.

Incredibly comfortable - they fit well on any headsize without excessive clamp that can cause discomfort. Sound is warm-neutral, almost akin to the HD6X0 series, but with much better bass extension. Build quality is top notch - a step above anything else in the price range. Very lightweight construction so they can be worn all day without issue. Bass is well extended with decent clarity - it does lack a touch of impact compared to the Sennheiser HD6X0 series due to a more flat mid-bass tuning but a slight EQ in that region brings the impact right back. Mids are full and clean with vocals sounding natural and instruments sounding correct. Treble is a little bit brighter than the HD6X0 but not overly bright which adds a bit of clarity and definition, especially to the leading edge of sounds. This helps with imaging and separation. Soundstage is slightly better than the HD6X0 series as well but not overly wide - it is sufficient. These are a bit more expensive than a lot of the competition (namely the Sennheiser HD6X0 series and the Hifiman Sundara/XS) but the value proposition here is in the build quality that is a step above the competition, and the all-rounder tuning - these are arguably the best all-around headphones for the price - the Hifimans are more resolving but can be too bright for some (this can cause fatigue with highly energetic music) while the HD6X0 series might not be as resolving and lack in bass extension (which is necessary for certain genres) - the AR5000 has great extension on both ends and never seem to lack for anything across all genres. If anyone is looking to buy one and only one pair of headphones in 2025 and is looking for one at or below $300 (or even $500), the AR5000 should be on the short list to consider.

I bought these back in January to replace the Sundara's I had for the past 5 years. When I first received them I was super happy. Sound is pretty on par with the Sundara's I just replaced. Build quality was a lot of plastic, but it seemed sturdy enough. Now I NEVER dropped these. They have their own special hanger and are hung up every time I walk away from my desk. I've never even bumped them. But one day I picked them up from their hanger after having gone upstairs and the plastic had cracked all the way through on one side. I was so disappointed that it happened. I'd personally say give these a hard pass. There are other options at this price point where your money would be better spent. Thanks Amazon for taking the return and making this right!
