Setting Up a Breeze: While written instructions not included, assembling the Aufero Laser 2 couldn't be simpler. A QR code in the instruction book guides you to a video on Aufero's website, detailing the process. With just eight screws, a few cable ties, and connecting plugs, I was up and running in under 30 minutes, while enjoying a leisurely coffee (and being a bit extra cautious!). Engraving Magic: My first test project involved the included wood pieces - a thoughtful touch by Aufero. Using Lightburn software (paid, but with a generous 30-day free trial), I imported an image, set the burn power to 85%, and watched in amazement as the laser meticulously etched the design into the wood in under four minutes. The results were simply breathtaking. Beyond Burning: While primarily designed for engraving and burning, the Aufero Laser 2 tackles cutting tasks with ease, handling materials up to 6mm (1/4") thick.     • A new hobby that I am learning to love!

I have never really seriously considered doing engraving before until I came across this engraver and thought it would be an interesting and fun thing to try. It didn't take to long to get setup. Honestly finding a place for it was the bigger concernn. Once it was setup I started watching a few YouTube videos and was on my way. Ended up getting the Light Burn software because that sounded like the easiest thing to do. Bit of a learning curve but shortly after I was engraving. Was surprised by the amount of smoke at first and ended up making a simple exhaust system to keep things clear. Later bought a more professional exhaust system as well as a cage/box so now there are no issues in that regard. I've made a handful of smaller engravings and they've all turned out fairly well. Would like to start engraving larger items and maybe make my own store on Etsy or something like that. From my reading, it seems like Aufero has different laser heads you can buy and change out to perform different engravings or even cuts, so that might be another investment down the road as well. ... show more

I ordered this on a whim as I was looking to start a new hobby. I made a great choice! It took a little time to set it up and assemble, but once it was ready - I was on my way to making awesome gifts and items for my house. I'm really impressed with the quality of this engraver. There are some great videos on YouTube for this product as well. I'm having a blast using it - and getting better by the day with every project I complete. You need to set it up in a workspace or on a table that has some ventilation because there is a little smoke when you engrave wood, but it isn't too bad. Very easy to set up. It gives you the option of sing USB or CAT5 cable to your computer. We’re using an Apple desktop so we got the Lightburn software. This machine has plenty of instructional videos on YouTube. The laser module can be changed, and this company offers a couple other laser heads plus other options to make your machine more functional after you get a bit of experience. It does not come with a laser bed, and that’s not a must have, but it’s a good thing to have to protect your work surface. This would be a perfect gift for a teen / young adult.. better than endless hours playing video games with nothing to show for your time. You can make things and list them on Etsy… make Christmas and Birthday gifts. We really like this engraver. Easy to use…. Very mild learning curve. Literally anyone can learn how to use this.
