  • Excellent Upgrade If You Can Spare The Cash.
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
I purchased this cartridge to hopefully be a good match for our audio-technica 1240 USB turntable. I am very pleased. It seems thoroughly capable of playing loud rock music, blues, and jazz from vinyl. It has a punchy sound and is good at revealing the instruments in our home theatre player system. I have been using a Grado Green cartridge which I still like, although the audio technica VM520 EB cartridge might be more well suited to the turntable. The VM520EB is of course more expensive, so it is probably unfair to compare it to the Grado Green. The Green in my view is quite a good value, and is perhaps more melodic than the VM520EB. In short, I plan to use them both, since they each have some nice qualities. If you get the audio technica VM520 EB cartridge be sure to mount it with the tone arm level to the record surface, as the manufacturer specifies. Otherwise the music might sound distorted, so do it correctly. One disappointment might be that the stylus is only good for about 300 hours. The nice thing is you can replace it, when it wears out, with a number of other stylus possibilities. I plan to upgrade to a audio technica VMN30EN elliptical nude stylus, which lasts about 1000 hours. It should also have an even better sound quality than the original stylus. However, this upgrade does cost over 100 dollars so be aware of this. By the way, the stylus on the Grado Green is good for about 1500 hours, and is cheaper. Still the VM520EB is quite a nice cartridge, I think, and very well suited for my audio technica turntable. ... show more

  • Excellent step up from my old AT3600L
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
For starters, this cartridge sounds significantly better than the AT3600L that can stock on my Heydey turntable. I really like how much crisper the highs come across as they don’t get muddied like my old cart tended to do. I was mostly drawn to it as the stylus protector was a flip-down design rather than a plastic cap, this means I never have to worry about loosing a cap or incorrectly replacing it during times when I’m not using it. One thing to note, the way that the stylus mounts to the cart, it covers the nuts for the mounting hardware. This made it difficult to adjust with the protractor as I was constantly removing the stylus to loosen a nut and adjust the setup only to reinstall the stylus and check for alignment again. All in all, happy to have picked it up and loving the sound I’m getting from it! ... show more

  • Excellent Sound Range
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
Installed on my Technical SL 1900 vintage table, and couldn’t be more pleased. Excellent high response and well-balanced mid and low. Brought LPs alive that were thought worn out. Replaced and outperforms previous Shure M91ED.

  • Nice cartridge... but...
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
This was quite an upgrade from my previous cartridge, the AT95EX, which itself is a decent sounding cart. This tracks a bit better and produces less inner-groove distortion on certain albums than my previous set up did. I'd also say this tracks 45RPM records better and reproduces the sound better than the AT95EX as well. The only drawback, which others have mentioned, is it seems like its lacking some low-end and almost borders on sounding "tinny" - Not awful, but not a purchase worth repeating the in future. That being said, it's still a pretty nice cartridge and I do enjoy it. ... show more

  • The best in quality
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
I have been using the ATP-2 for 30 years on my Kenwood. I use it a lot. Other stylus won't last anywhere near that time. In fact, most stylus lose quality over time, even if you don't use them. I am a big Audio-Technica fan. You won't find as good quality for the price of the VM520EB

  • Good Sound
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
It replaced a similar AT cartridge that had 1 channel go bad. This one was reasonably easy to install & performed well with only tracking pressure needing to be set. Sound is fine & there are no tracking problems.

  • Far Better than Price Indicates
Style: VM520EB Cartridge
Easy to set up and sounds amazing. I am tracking it at 2.0 grams with 2 anti-skate. I did a direct comparison to the Ortofon 2M Black and surprisingly, it blew it away. The VM520 is warm and personable bright when it needs to be. It is now my daily listener. It is mounted on a PSS-9 Tonearm on a Zorin Audio TP-S1 Turntable. I am so over the moon with such a delight for so very little money. ... show more
