Description

Springing from Audio-Technica's rich heritage in professional audio, the ATH- MSR7 Over-Ear High-Resolution Audio Headphones are designed to reproduce Hi- Res Audio, allowing users to hear music the way it was intended. The over-ear headphones are outfitted with exclusive 45 mm True Motion Drivers, which utilize lightweight voice coils, a custom-mounted printed circuit board and specially designed diaphragm to improve transient response and minimize sound distortion for rich, detailed audio reproduction. The ATH-MSR7 headphones also feature multi-layered air damping technology for extended mid-to-low frequency response. The housings, designed to "mirror" the full shape of the ear, are constructed of an aluminum/magnesium mix, layered to provide a lightweight, rigid structure that reduces unwanted resonance. Three precisely placed vents within these layers work to control air flow and improve dynamics. The over- ear headphones' highly flexible swivel design, with soft, memory foam ear pads and headband ensure lasting comfort even during the longest listening sessions. And with three detachable cables (standard 1.2 m (3.9') and 3.0 m (9.8') cables, plus a 1.2 m (3.9') cable with in-line controls and microphone for compatible smartphones and other devices) the ATH-MSR7 can provide Hi-Res Audio anywhere you go.

  • been looking long and hard for the perfect pair of headphones
Style: Gun-Metal Grey
just as a disclosure, sound is very subjective. what sounds good to me may be different for you. i am not an audiophile by any means. my sound preference is med-light bass, i do not like the bass to be so drastic to the point where it would drown out the lyrics. i prefer a flat to moderate bass and a pair of headphones that puts emphasis to clarity. so, if you are a bass head, these headphones are not for you. that being said, some people say bass is lacking. in my opinion, its just about right. its present, but not overwhelming. i listened to plenty of rap songs like Kid Ink- Body Language, Lloyd Banks- Beamer Benz or Bentley, and Lil Jon & DJ Snake- Turn Down for What.. keeping in mind that all these tracks put alot of emphasis on bass.. and to me it was still music to my ears. where these headphones really shine is clarity. vocals, acoustics, guitars and drums are very very clean. watching movies is a real treat too. voices come out very clear. my only complaint with these headphones are the band over the top of the head is a bit on the tighter side. some may say thats better for a more secure fit, maybe over time that will break in a bit, not a deal breaker for me. listening to these headphones at high volume is probably not recommended. i noticed after 2 hours of use, i feel like my ears get fatigued, and i need to give it a moment to breathe. so if you're the type that want to wear these headphones for a long period of time, maybe its best to have it at medium-high volume level instead of max. but again, that might just be me. these headphones are probably best bang for your buck. other items i considered was the sennheiser momentum 2.0, and the bose qc 25. i didn't get a chance to try both because i wanted something a little bit more budget friendly. im sure they sound great too, but if you are up on the fence about buying these, i don't think anyone will be disappointed with the sound. alot of people also want to know how these headphones stack up against the very budget friendly m50x. in my opinion, the msr7 clarity, treble and mids are better. not by much, but definitely noticeable. the bass is a tad more present in the m50x. again, not by much.. but you can tell. i use this for travel/flights.. and to my friends that are nearby says it has very little or no sound leakage which may be something to consider for some who care about that sort of thing. both are extremely light headphones, the m50x a tad lighter since it is made up of mostly, if not all plastic. the msr7 has some metal construction to it which adds a little bit more heft, but to me it adds a more premium feel and a much more classy and public friendly look when wearing it. ... show more

  • Semi-flat audio, perfect bass, & a good quality build
Style: Noise-Cancelling Black
PROS: The main feature of the headphones, the audio, is exceptional quality, IMO. I primarily bought these for work but found myself using them to monitor some of my mixes in the studio. I do notice some slight bias in the EQ of the output audio while comparing/monitoring samples, 3rd party masters, and personal mixes. As far as bass, it's not too much and not overdone like their cousin, the ATH-M50x. The bass seems accurate enough and smooth. The mids seem to be dropped about 1db and the highs seem spot-on. Maybe the highs are just a tad much higher than what I'd like. Honestly, I feel these are better monitors than the ATH-M50x's--Ironically, they're not marketing the term "monitoring" in this model. I suppose they're not made specifically for reference quality or monitoring, but it's good to know that I can use them to prevent background noises with ANC anywhere I use them. Would I suggest these as a studio headphone? It depends--If you're trying to use it solely for mixing/mastering reference audio, it's not made for that IMO. The bias on the audio is slightly there. However, you can use it to hear unwanted clutter in your mix like any good monitoring phones. If you're really skilled, you can still use these for more than minor monitoring in the studio, but you better use your loudspeaker monitors 80% of the time to maintain an accurate frequency (EQ) in your songs. It's great for hi-res sound for regular listening to final/mastered tracks. It's great for noisy environments while trying to listen to music or just reduce noise. COMFORT: The comfort is there and the quality. The pads are soft and seem to be expanding back in their original place after use. I became an Audio-Technica fan after my first pair of ATH-M50x's. Whether these are a bit audio biased or not, Audio-Technica has always had the best sounding cans IMO. CONS: The cable for non-phone use is too short. My M50x's have plenty of cable length and so should these. In the photo, I'm hardly able to route the cord away from my keyboard without it getting in the way. With my 50x's I can move it under and further away making it less annoying. ... show more
