Originally ordered the synthetic rope version. There were issues with it slipping off the drum and damaging the cable, possibly due to roller fairlead instead of Hawes style? Reached out to seller and they were prompt to respond and offered refund or to replace with steel cable version. Steel cable style seems to work much better- no issues so far, and is much more economical than other options I've seen. Also, the freespool is very stiff initially (I thought jammed at first), but it loosens after working the cable out and back a few times, so don't get upset if it doesn't pull freely right out of the box. I was disappointed to find that the gearing is NOT a 3 stage planetary, but a single stage differential planetary. While differential drives do work they are much noisier and less efficient than true planetary gearing. While it performs well enough, it does so with a lot of gear noise and slow speed. ... show more
