I use these on my backyard fountain. It pushes water about 15 feet with a lift of about 3 feet. Powered by a HF solar array with battery and controller with manual switching. The last one lasted about two years. If it’s on 12 hours a day or more it will last considerably less but they’re WAY cheaper than dedicated 120v fountain pumps with similar flow rates plus they run on 12v DC solar so no complicated or expensive 120 circuits. Bought 2 of the 1200 GPH pumps in 2012 for my (just purchased at the time) 27' Cierra boat. It originally had one 500 gph pump in the cabin under the steps, and one 800 gph pump in the bilge. Replaced them both with the attwood pumps not knowing how they were going to work or how long they would last but I am glad I did. The front pump never gets used unless I press the bilge button which activates both pumps. The bilge pump works all the time it rains (I installed an attwood switch that was suggested from here - The blue one which comes with a cover though I did not use the cover) The bilge pump is still working, thru all the sludge/ oil and dirt the bilge tends to collect thru time. I try to clean my bilge before I put the boat in the water each season but with very little maintenance this pump has delivered. ... show more

If i would have had a lesser pump my boat would be on the bottom of the Columbia River after hitting a log and ripping the outdrive off! THIS LITTERALY SAVED MY LIFE! Would not of survived current and water temperatures. THANKS ATTWOOD!
