I liked having top access to be able to grab my kitten out versus having to try to pull her all the way from the back. I had no concerns about the top door opening while carrying it. The way the top door locked works well for being secure. This carrier included a plastic grate so any debris or other things could fall away from where the animal lays. My kitten felt secure and safe. It was easy to transport. Ventilation a just right. Very easy to used to transport small animals. My male kitten wouldn’t be able to fit in the small pet carrier. My puppy that I have been crate training ADORES this crate! He likes poking his head out of the top so he can see what's going on (the top can lock/unlock which makes it very convenient for putting toys & things in the crate for your fur baby without them running off). It is very lightweight and durable. My little guy had a couple accidents in this crate and it was very easy to clean out with soap, water, and pet cleaner. I will be purchasing this exact same crate but a larger size in the future as he grows bigger. Highly recommend this! ... show more

This thing is a piece of junk. I do not trust it to hold my 8 lb. cat; I have to hold the bottom of it. The handles are useless and the door isn't very secure. I have missed the return window by a few days unfortunately, and the company is only willing to offer a 15% refund rather than take it back... I should have tested it before my cat had an appt. I'm giving this 5 stars because it's a solid carrier made of sturdy, heavier plastic. it doesn't feel cheap at all. My only complaint is the top opening might be too small to actually squeeze your pet out through it. And, if the fasteners holding the top and bottom together were supposed to make it easier to unscrew them to lift the top off, that intent is defeated by the fact that half the holes are fastened together by more permanent bolts that don't easily unscrew. So if you're looking for a carrier with fasteners that are quick and easy to unhook, this probably isn't for you. ... show more
