  • Great Phone - Just Didn't Work In My System
Style: Without Answering System
This is a great phone with great features at a very good price (for what it offers). However I have a VOIP service (voice over internet) on one of my two lines. I have an ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) from Obihai (OBI 202) and also tried an ATA from Grandstream. Both produced significant low frequency hum (120 Hz??) when connected to either line of this phone. The hum was present on BOTH lines (my other line was a standard AT&T home phone line) if the ATA was connected to this phone. I contacted AT&T support for this product (AT&T support was very good - wait times less than 2 minutes on each of my several calls - knowledgeable techs). After a lot of trying things, they said this product was not compatible with an ATA. Note that I tried two DIFFERENT ATA's from two companies. I also tried returning my original phone and getting a replacement in case my specific unit was defective. But the problem persisted. Note that my previous phone (an old AT&T phone) worked just fine with the ATA. I tried looking for another phone that had the features this one had. Even phones costing $100 more could not match this one with regards to the features I considered to be important. So I am still using my old phone and probably will for the foreseeable future. ... show more

  • Good Phone
Style: Without Answering System
This is the second phone I have bought but this one is different from the first one, I use it for my work as a phone assistant for a Childrenโ€™s Charity. The first one the window where the caller id is would stay lit up so I could easily see the number I dialed and how long I had been on each call and also any incoming calls, the second phone doesnโ€™t do that, it lights up when you dial the number but it goes out very soon after. Not too pleased with that. ... show more

  • Very comfortable phone, but LOUD ring and dial tone that can't be turned down to normal levels.
Style: Without Answering System
I'm keeping the phone as it's good for what I need it for and I find the various buttons well marked and easy to use. My only complaint is that ring and dial tone when using Speaker are extremely loud, not particularly pleasant, and can't be sufficiently turned down.

  • One of the best available
Style: Without Answering System
First off, It is an AT&T, one of the best companies out there. Easy to use and set up. So many features, I have only used a few. Typical of the old AT&T quality.. I understand there has been a substantial price increase, but if you can purchase one for less that 50 bucks, get one, Well worth it.

  • Disabling the Second Phone Line
Style: Without Answering System
This is a great phone with a lot of features. I use a headset with the phone which uses a 2.5mm headset vice the 3.5mm set you use with you cell phones, music devices, etc. There are a couple of the things that bothered me just a little bit, but not enough to downgrade my review. Volume control: volume adjustment is easy with the push buttons near the bottom. Just would have liked it to have more volume range (there are just 4 levels). Granted I'm old with tinnitus, but just something to think about. Using my headset helps with that. Disabling the second line. Others have commented on this but in my home office I just use one line for my voice, the other is for fax and I want it that way. The problem, which isn't really a problem but is annoying from a "user interface" perspective is that when no line is plugged into the second line jack, the phone screen flashes back and forth between line busy or line unplugged. The other thing that happens is the red line 2 select button stays illuminated red which is the indication for "in use". Since the user manual doesn't provide a way to disable the displays/light or disable the line, I had to rely on some plain-old-telephone systems (POTS) "magic" to come up with a solution. What I did was get an old 48v DC wall wart and solder the red and black wires to the blue and blue/white wires in a Cat5 cable that I had an RJ11 plug crimped on to (these blue and blue/white wires go in the center two slots of the RJ11 jack). This works because the POTS design is setup so that when 48v DC is applied to the phone circuit, the phone registers this as "on hook". When the line is "off hook" the voltage drops to around the 5-10v range and you would hear a dial-tone supplied by the phone company once the circuit was available. Once I wired this up and plugged it into the line 2 jack of the phone, the line 2 select button light went out and the line just states, "0 new calls". Tried it in both phone jacks and it worked perfectly in either jack. ... show more

  • Serves its overall purpose
Style: Without Answering System
Though I've set the volume control several different times in settings, the volume inevitably reverts back to very loud! A couple of the buttons stick when I press them. There are 2 lines and when I go from 1 line to the other without hanging up the receiver, but rather just pressing the other line which should just hang up the other line, it won't hang it up! It took several minutes before it finally disconnected the line even though no one was actually on the other line. The display is easy to read and the buttons are big, which is nice. I had so many issues with the previous AT&T phones I bought 6 months ago, which me to buying these new ones. I'm not impressed, but it'll do the job for now. I use these phones for my business and it's been very challenging to find decent office phones. ... show more
