  • With caller ID, call blocking works great
Size: 4 Handset Pattern Name: Phone
I purchased the AT&T BL102-4 cordless phone set from the Amazon Warehouse (like-new used in original packaging) when our family switched from a traditional landline setup to a VOIP landline with our local cable provider. We previously had been using a cordless system from another brand with our phone company's service and the call quality was never good - often lots of crackle on the line, making callers hard to hear. I wasn't sure if it was the phones, the service, or the cords, so I replaced all of them and started anew. The build quality of this AT&T phone system was a little less substantial than I expected, but the phones do their job and call quality is good. The handsets and the base feel kind of cheap, but this is an under-one hundred dollar phone system so I guess that's to be expected. It works well though, and the features are good. The only feature I miss is Bluetooth. If this system had it I could pair it with my cell phone, but other than that, it's not missing anything. ---------------------------------- ➡️ SETUP & USE: I put the batteries in the phones and charged them as I went to the included user manual to try and figure out how to set it up. The manual is a bit overwhelming, but if you read it carefully and go step by step, you can figure it out. Some features on the phone duplicate those offered by my cable company, so I did need to figure out which ones to set up and which ones to leave off on the phone. For example, my cable provider offers voicemail, and thus using the answering machine feature of this phone system isn't something that I do. Once I set up things like the number of rings before the calls were answered, I started adding numbers into my phone's contacts. Doing this let these callers come right through, and helped with call blocking. I set it up so that callers I didn't recognize would have to press the pound button on their phones to get through. This eliminates robocalls, but real-live telemarketers can still get through. --------------------------------------- ➡️ CALL BLOCKING FEATURE: Call blocking only works if your phone service provider has caller-ID enabled for your account. It works like this... When a call comes through that you have not put on your call block list already, or that your provider has not filtered, you get an audio announcement of the number and associated caller name. You can disable the audio announcement if desired. You can then decide if you want to answer or block the call. If you wish to block it, you press the call block button on the handset which is in the lower right corner. That stops the call from coming through and the ringing stops on the phone. Call blocking has been a life-changing feature for us. The combination of our cable provider phone service and this phone has eliminated 98% of our telemarketing calls and all of the robocalls. We no longer have to unplug our phones to get some sleep, and the calls we do get are nice and clear. ------------------------------------------ The top 3 reasons I purchased this phone system... 1. I got a heck of a deal through the Amazon Warehouse during Prime Day (an additional 20% off the warehouse price), making it under seventy for me. 2. The call blocking feature to eliminate robocalls and telemarketers. 3. The ability to increase the volume easily on the handset, for my hard-of-hearing husband. ----------------------------------------------- This phone system works with both traditional phone service providers and VOIP cable company phone services. It comes with four handsets and has a built-in answering machine along with the call blocking feature that works with the caller ID provided by your phone service provider. The handsets are lightweight, have big numbers that are easy to see along with the LCD display. The caller ID announce feature is a nice addition and most of the time it's easy to understand. 🎯 I think this phone system is a good one for those who want to eliminate robocalls and telemarketing calls from their life. I also think it's a good choice for those who are impaired visually or have hearing loss. =========================================== ... show more

Have you ever felt like you're stuck in a never-ending loop of frustration when it comes to your phone? Well, let me share my personal experience with the AT&T BL102-2 DECT 6.0 2-Handset Cordless Phone for Home with Answering Machine, Call Blocking, Caller ID Announcer, Audio Assist, Intercom, and Unsurpassed Range in Silver/Black. Get ready for a rollercoaster ride of disappointment, confusion, and a dash of humor as we delve into the absurdity that is this phone. Chapter 1: Promises and Pitfalls Picture this: you're browsing the market for a reliable cordless phone with all the bells and whistles. The AT&T BL102-2 seems like a dream come true on paper. The product description boasts an array of features that make you feel like you've hit the jackpot. Caller ID Announcer? Check. Unsurpassed range? Check. But unfortunately, the reality falls hilariously short of expectations. Chapter 2: A Comedy of Call Blocking One of the key selling points of the AT&T BL102-2 is its call blocking feature. They promised a hassle-free solution to those pesky telemarketers and unwanted calls. However, the only comedy here is the phone's definition of "call blocking." It's more like a game of chance, where the phone randomly decides which calls to block and which ones to let through. It's like playing Russian roulette with your phone line! Chapter 3: Caller ID Announcer or Prankster? Imagine sitting on your couch, waiting for an important call, and suddenly your phone starts announcing "Unknown Caller" with an enthusiastic tone. It's like having a personal comedian in your home, mocking your hopes of knowing who's on the other end of the line. The Caller ID Announcer feature of the BL102-2 is supposed to be helpful, but it ends up being more of an entertainment feature than a useful tool. Chapter 4: Audio Assist or Audio Ass-ist? We all appreciate a little assistance, especially when it comes to our phone conversations. The Audio Assist feature of the BL102-2 promises to make voices louder and clearer. However, the only thing it succeeds in doing is turning your conversation into a circus act. Suddenly, every conversation becomes a shouting match, as the phone amplifies everything to an absurd level. It's as if the phone is trying to compensate for its other shortcomings with a hilarious volume boost. Chapter 5: Intercom, or a Confused Game of Hide and Seek? Need to communicate with someone in another room? The intercom feature of the AT&T BL102-2 is supposed to make this a breeze. However, it seems like this feature takes the concept of hide and seek to a whole new level. Sometimes the intercom works flawlessly, and other times it's like playing a game of telephone with a mischievous ghost. You never know if your message will reach the intended recipient or get lost in the void. Chapter 6: Unsurpassed Range, or Unbelievably Limited? The cherry on top of the comedy cake is the phone's claim of unsurpassed range. You'd expect a cordless phone to provide seamless communication throughout your home, but with the BL102-2, it's like walking through a maze of dropped calls and static. It's as if the range is determined by the phone's mood that day. One minute, you're chatting away in the kitchen, and the next, you're cut off mid-sentence as you step into the next room. It's like the phone has ... show more

  • Like origami setting it up or changing 1 thing Like origami setting it up or changing 1 thing
Size: 4 Handset Pattern Name: Phone
I bought this due to what seemed like pretty awesome and aggressive call Blocker features and the large screen. I've always bought panasonic but this phone was far more "advanced". I just set it up and I really dislike how complicated this is. All phones I've had, for decades, had intuitive set up and I chalked my difficulty up to maybe just not being used to.this brand. I spent 45 minutes scrolling , hitting buttons, not finding a simple "erase" or "space" anywhere to enter numbers then having the phone save stuff I have to go retype and erase. I didn't use the manual, having zero problem, ever, setting up a phone, and if you lose the manual good luck setting this up or trying to do "a" thing. I liked the smart call block which instructs callers that you're screening calls and to say their name then press pound to be rung thru. The manual clearly states that this can block calls you want to have and so don't use it. Which isn't helpful. Doctors and others call from private cell phones now and many work from home and aren't using caller-ID branded company phones so its also impractical to block everyone but who is in your phone directory (another option). If you want to do this, you cant import or choose the numbers you've added to your directory- you have to retype all the names and numbers, one by one, again, to your " allow list" . Many i have in my directory still say "unavailable" above the number which isn't helpful if you have the caller ID speak who is calling so you can go pick it up or let it go to voice mail. A few options you can set up, like allowing everyone in your Directory through didn't work. I also looked for extra batteries, just in case, and in putting the phone name, I find none listed. I guess you have to look at the 300 batteries being sold to find the compatible ones but ATT ought to make this easier. While the screen is large, my smaller one had thicker text and I find this readout spidery and not too easy to read. Perhaps I'll get used to it but I find this overly complicated, the spoken set up instructions pretty much tell you to read the manual, and alas, it has shrill, annoying ringer tones. The voice announcer is really weird, pronouncing things slowly and with strange inflection.. Wouldn't buy again and would return if I didn't need a phone this second. Way too complicated, even.for the easy stuff. UPDATE: I have tried my best to adjust to this phone and persevere. after months and re-re-reading everything and multiple resets and endless tweaking this phone is a nightmare. if I leave it on " block everyone but people in my directory" then its fine. but not practical. i had it on "block unknown calls" which then started giving me spam numbers calling but without any ID to it. my best friend continually rings thru as "unknown caller" tho she's in my allow list and directory, yet the talking ID will announce her name. many, many times I'll answer the phone and it goes to one, constant ring, like an alarm going off. it won't answer and I can't turn this off! I have to yank the batteries out. the person calling gets dead air. many times someone will call and hear me but I can't hear them. I even called ATT who muddled thru the same instruction tome as I have. people in directory show up as "unknown caller" in spite of being allowed. Jerks calling can't be blocked because if you block number you have to enter a name, too, and you cant put in "unavailable " or "out of area" . block doesn't go by name but you cant just block a number, period. many times phone will ring (when using the screener) and I'll pick.it up to be asked by the phone screen to "press any number and then pound" which is what the CALLER is supposed to get, not me. if I do this im told by phone voice this is an invalid phone number so my call can't be completed. huh??? the actual caller will tell me the phone rang forever then went dead silent. my caller ID will show my number called me and as "unknown" I give up. ... show more

  • I LUV this phone!!! If your issue is blocking numerous annoying spam callers…
Size: 3 Handset Pattern Name: Phone
I give it 5 stars!! (I don’t know what the “Lock Feature” is, but just gave that feature 5 stars too). I had a Panasonic cordless that was several years old and still worked perfectly, but it only allowed me to block 30 numbers at a time, which, with the increase in spam callers, caused me to have to constantly have to go into the block list and remove older numbers to make room for the more recent ones. WELL… this one lets you block 1000 numbers!!! (Hopefully that will be enough for a while). Also, my Panasonic cordless would announce “you’ve got a call from…” and then state about the first 5 numbers, so I was still hearing it ring, tho I know from the area code not to pick it up. With this AT&T cordless, if the spam callers hang up after my greeting starts playing, I never even hear it ring once nor announced. And if the number is on my block list, it won’t ring thru either. I check the phone’s caller list daily and if I see new un-blocked spam calls listed I can easily put them on the block list. It is also much easier to block calls actively coming in or even afterwards than it was on my older Panasonic. I only have to push a cpl of buttons to put a number on the block list with the AT&T phone, while with my Panasonic, I had to go to the Menu, scroll down to find block list, erase a number to make room for new number, go back to call list to see new spam number, edit it down to 10 digits (minus the “1”), then save it. It was a LOT of steps. So this AT&T phone makes it much simpler in way fewer steps to block numbers. I no longer hear spam caller rings / announcements start in the early morning hours because most of them hang up w/o leaving a message. If they do leave a message - which I have not experienced yet since installing new phone about 4 days ago - I would be able to put them on the block list the same as if they hadn’t. I have observed that spammers roll thru various exchanges to try to get to you by changing 1 digit in the number they are calling from at a time. I am very diligent in checking every day for those numbers and block them immediately. This is why the ability to block 1000 numbers is the MOST important new feature of this phone to me. One thing that is different, which is not as good as the Panasonic, is setting Quiet Hours… those hours between midnight and whatever time in the morning you do not want the phone to ring at all from anyone. On the Panasonic, there is a setting to enter the specific hours once that you want to be Quiet and it observes those hours day in and day out; however, with the new AT&T phone, you have to set them each night. It’s an easy setting, but still so easy to forget to do that before bed every night. So that is the one deficiency of this phone, and I am surprised AT&T didn’t catch that in their development of it. But so far, I have remembered to set it nightly. Even if I forget, I still LUV this phone because it blocks spam callers so perfectly, and that is the main reason I bought it!! So, if you have a problem with lots of spam callers and want to stop them in their tracks, this is the phone for you!! ... show more
