  • Great for a student.
Capacity: Core i7 | 16G | 512G | MX150 Style: 14"
I searched for the right small laptop for about 3 months. I was deadset on the HP Spectre before I came across the ASUS. The reason I chose this one over the Spectre, XPS, ENVY, LG Gram, or the Matebook was mainly because this thing is super sturdy. This ultrabook feels very solid. There is no give on the keyboard or the screen and everything about it screams quality. I've had this for a month now and I am very happy with it. It's really fast! I have had no issues with the fingerprint scanner, the screen is beautiful, and the touchscreen is great. I've used it for the visible body apps which are fairly intensive and they worked great. Battery life is long! I get through an 8 hour school day. It's a little heavier than the competition but the build quality really is so much superior. There is nothing cheap about this little laptop. It can also do some light gaming. I've played Civ VI , World of Warcraft, and Crusader Kings II on it with no issues. If I had to nitpick one thing I'd say the speakers could be a little better, otherwise A++++ ... show more

  • Ignore The One Star Review
Capacity: Core i5 | 8G | 256G Style: 14"
I've had this laptop for over a month now and I am very impressed with it's design and performance. First of all I think it looks very nice; it's thin, sleek and has thin bezels on the screen. The i5 processor paired with the SSD and 8 gbs of RAM gives a very smooth experience, and it can even handle some light games! I've tested Dead Cells, Bastion, Minecraft, and Torchlight 2, and they can all run at 60 fps with some tweaking. The fingerprint scanner is much better than what old laptops used to have. It makes logging in very convenient and fast, you can even add multiple fingers! One issue is that the face unlock feature (Window's Hello), doesn't seem to work for me, but it's not really a big deal IMO. If you're looking for a lightweight laptop for school, travel, or work I highly recommend this Asus! ... show more

  • Final straw
Capacity: Core i7 | 16G | 512G | MX150 Style: 14"
This is the third and final time I let Asus get away with scamming me. first 2 laptops I got were DOA, this one might as well have been. After using it for over a year, I can say it's the single worst laptop I've ever owned. The fingerprint scanner only works 10% of the time. The 2-in-1 tablet mode doesn't play well on windows 10, and keeps getting stuck with the onscreen keyboard in laptop mode. It crashes whenever the screen shuts off, and has to be power cycled to come back on. It's lost all network devices twice, which I had to manually install from a usb. This will be the last Asus product I ever buy ... show more

  • Really nice laptop
Capacity: Core i7 | 16G | 512G | MX150 Style: 14"
I wasn't certain of what laptop that I wanted but knew what I needed. I had an ASUS from a store in town before. It was great until it became a paper weight. I wanted to upgrade and figured that more cost meant a better unit. Hope I'm not wrong here. So far the computer has been great, light weight, much more battery life and touch screens are a great addition that my tablet and previous ASUS spoiled me on. Fast start up time and very bright screen. Finger print reader a bit iffy but mostly works well. Overall a great laptop. The spread out payments over 5 months through Amazon was a clincher. ... show more

  • Great laptop
Capacity: Core i7 | 16G | 512G | MX150 Style: 14"
I use this laptop to submit reports from oilfield well sites. I usually work out of my vehicle so I was interested in the small size and long battery lift. I thought I would be using it in tablet mode - get the monitor out of the way. But I've found it's easier to just use it like a regular laptop. I also so some light gaming in my downtime. It's OK for light gaming, but if you are more serious about it you will need a faster graphics card.. The battery life is good. It easily lasts a 10-12 hr day for what I do (not continuous use). I also like the SSD because I don't have to worry about the drive heads bouncing around if I move my vehicle. The display is clear and bright enough that I can use it outdoors without difficulty - after I installed an anti-glare screen protector. I had problems with the Wi-Fi adaptor flashing a list of hotspots, then going blank. I tried getting the latest drivers off of the ASUS site but it didn't help. I finally went to the Intel site and those drivers fixed the problem. Their is no Ethernet port but my laptop came with a Ethernet to USB adaptor. The touchpad works well and sometimes I just use it, but I don't know all of the gestures for things like drag/drop so I prefer to use a mouse. Speaking of mice, two standard USB ports isn't a lot, especially if you want to use a mouse and the Ethernet adaptor. That leaves how many for your memory stick? I ended up getting a Microsoft Bluetooth mouse. It works great, links about as fast as a dedicated dongle. The microSD slot is a bit of a pain if you are constantly loading images from a camera. I ended up buying a new microSD card with the full size adaptor and using that in my camera and then just plugging the microSD into the laptop. It works but the microSD is a little touchier about how you plug it in. Would have much preferred a full size adaptor. I tried the fingerprint reader but didn't have a lot of luck with it in conjunction with Windows Hello. It would say it didn't recognize my fingerprint, then when I would say I wanted to add the same finger it would say that fingerprint was already recorded. I'm thinking it is more of a Hello problem than hardware. I haven't tried using the camera for Hello so no comment on that feature. Besides, do you really want the camera to be constantly on, looking for your face? Of course at my age, if anyone gets a peek when I come out of the shower then they deserve what they get - No! No! I can never un-see it! (By the way, all of you guys buying voice actuated assistants and sprinkling them around your house - YOU'RE INSANE!!!) One minor complaint is that the "feature" that lifts the back of the keyboard slightly when you open the lid also lifts the back anti-slip pads off your work surface, making it easy for the laptop to slide around. A bigger problem (I suppose) is that the USB C port is data transfer only. I haven't verified but I don't believe you can run a display from that port. I called ASUS and they suggested just using a USB 3 dock. (Great gnashing of teeth because I thought that was the whole point of USB C). I say I suppose it's a problem because I've never actually needed to run a monitor from either port as the laptop has a full-sized HDMI port. But, if you are thinking (as I was) that you could buy a USB C docking port with and HDMI, Ethernet and power connection and only have to plug and unplug one cable, you're out of luck. You have to plug in two cables & a power cord instead - oh, the humanity! Overall though, it's a great laptop. Fast, small, light, bright screen, long battery life, no mechanical hard drive rattling around. Cheap at the price. ... show more
