Description

Creativity. Style. Innovation. These are the qualities that define the elegant new ZenBook 14. Everything in this super-compact masterpiece is designed to give you the freedom to discover your creative vision, including the stunning slim-bezel NanoEdge display with its 86% screen-to-body ratio. You’ll appreciate not only the tremendous power within and the thoughtful attention to detail — such as the exclusive ErgoLift hinge— but also the timeless beauty of the design, with its sophisticated Utopia Blue finish enhanced by the stylish silver trim panel. ZenBook 14 meets the ultra-demanding MIL-STD-810G military standard for reliability and durability, undergoing a punishing test regime that includes extended tests for operation in harsh environments including extreme altitudes, temperatures and humidity. To create the astounding quad-speaker sound system in ZenBook 14, the ASUS Golden Ear team worked with renowned home and automotive audio experts Harmon Kardon. Two bass speakers and two high-frequency speakers deliver smooth, clear and powerful full-range sound, while smart amplifier technology prevents distortion and speaker damage at high volumes. Together with ASUS SonicMaster technology — a combination of hardware and software fine-tuning — the results are truly astonishing.

Style: ASUS ZenBook
I bought this laptop because it seems to pack a lot of bang for the buck as far as processing power as replacement for a 10 year old macbook. I wanted a laptop that could handle the smaller data processing jobs before transferring to a larger computer. But I also use it for fun like listening to music, streaming videos, and light gaming. hardware likes I read reviews of the older zenbook 433 that said the speakers stunk, the screen was dim, and the trackpad felt loose. Asus fixed all these problems! The screen is bright(!) with sharp resolution, and the speakers are VERY LOUD. I usually just play music between 2-10% but you can crank this puppy up if you wanna listen in the shower. The trackpad feels fine, no complaints. The processing power is a good bang for the buck with an intel 8th gen i7, not bad for under $1G. I expect it'll be out of date in 2 years but yeah, what chu gonna do? The general feel of the laptop is sturdy and the aluminum finish is a nice find for a laptop under $1G. hardware cons Be aware, the UX431-FN model series DOES NOT COME WITH THE LIGHT UP NUMBERPAD ON THE TRACKPAD. A slight bummer (I tried it out in a store, it's not a gimmick, i would have used it, so jealous) but if you want that you can wait for the UX-431FN series to come out and pay mas dinero (written 5/27/19). The keyboard has a wee bit of 'give'. Coming from a macbook (which has zero) this might bug some people. Hasn't bothered me yet, but thought it is worth mentioning. If you're a gamer, this computer does not come with a dedicated graphics processor (GPU) so take that into account if a high performance gaming machine is what you're after. That being said, I've tried a couple slightly-older fast-paced online zombie first person shooters (left for dead 2 and Killing floor 2) without any problem. One more tiny thing, there's no play/pause button on the keyboard which I am quite used to on my old macbook. Slight bummer BUT on windows 10 you can adjust trackpad settings to play/pause/volume control with 3 or 4 fingers. So that's ok wik me. UPDATE 05/2020 the speakers no longer seem as loud as when I wrote the original review, I'm not sure if it has to do with speaker quality or what, I've never experienced that before. But it's still as loud as I could ask for. I still think this was a great bang for the buck laptop a year later. ... show more

  • Great machine, especially for the price. But....
Style: ASUS ZenBook
There is no number pad. Yes, it is included in the product description. The description is wrong. I am not an expert on all things ASUS; this is only my second Asus Zenbook. From what I can determine, if you have the fingerprint reader there is no number pad. Overall, this new Zenbook is fast. The connectivity is excellent. And it is significantly more durable than older models. Follow-up. The description has been changed removing the number pad. Love this machine. Just bought another for the business. ... show more

  • Sleek, fast, and seemless. Classy design inside and out.
Style: ASUS ZenBook
I've had the zenbook for 2 weeks now. It was worth the little extra money. But perhaps it did cost a little too much because it doesn't include rotation or touch screen (hence the 4 stars). However, as asus has boasted, the screen is truly great. It says 14 inch, but it is, I believe a 13'3-ish in physical size. The actual screen goes closer to the edge than most laptops. And the keyboard tilts up, for which I suspect is because it runs a little hard sometimes, it can be loud and maybe gets hot so the tilt helps that--though they say it tilts because of their ergonomic design. Either way, the keyboard tilting and the soft touch keys make it seemless when typing. Feels good. I truly love the design, weight, shape, and speed of the laptop. I almost didn't purchase because it was not touchscreen nor did it rotate, but I remember how often I used my last touchscreen, maybe once. Certain people need the touchscreen laptop, but not if they use the laptop as a work station. One issue might be with asus in general, the windows explorer, your folders, defaults to the my documents under the onedrive, which I'm not sure if you can change. The laptop holds a bit of gigs, but they charge you monthly for onedrive cloud storage beyond, I believe, 5 gigs, which is a little annoying. So far, I put on a lot of statistical software, and it has run decently with large datasets, they're not slowing it down. Running multiple browser tabs at once doesn't slow it down either (though it sometimes starts to run harder and louder for a short time.) Overall, I did a lot of research and reading reviews about this laptop, and for the most part it meets my expectations. Love it. ... show more

  • Beautiful product, but needs description tweak
Style: ASUS ZenBook
I really love the futuristic look of the cover of the laptop; the almost transparent rings that shrink as they get closer to the ASUS symbol really adds a unique look. I have to say that the way the screen of the laptop come downs lower than the key board to allow better sound and better cool down was what sold me. Now having it in front of me writing this review, I am in love. High speed, lots of great features and sleek design. On the other hand, the description of the laptop advertises the the track pad come with a virtual number pad. THIS IS FALSE ADVERTISING!!! All it comes with is a finger print scanner (still a really awesome feature), but keep that in mind in case that was one of the feature you were looking forward to. Highly recommend this laptop, it's beautiful. ... show more

  • Nice laptop

I bought this for my sister to use in her college courses. It works great, is a reasonable weight, and the battery life lasts for a good amount of time

  • Not worth it - Poor quality Control
Style: ASUS ZenBook
Purchased July 12 2019. In the time since purchase the following issues have all occured without any damage or mistreatment or possible virus threat. 1: Screen flickers black randomly. At first it started when moving the screen forward or back at any position. Restored windows fixed this briefly, now occurs randomly. 2: Speakers stopped working suddenly. The internal speakers were not detected by Windows 10 anymore and had to restore to a previous windows point to restore functioning. 3: Trackpad stopped working. No mouse suddenly, used keyboard to reach windows restore again, fixed the problem. 4: Fingerprint sensor does not work great. Registered multiple angles, fingers, and 2 different people to test it out. ... show more
