  • Good Laptop
It had better build quality than it looks in the pictures. I have not had it too long yet, but the battery life seems pretty good I've also played a few games - on Fortnite I got over 170 fps on low settings Overall, it is pretty much exactly what the listing says

  • Broke after less than two years, unrepairable.
I was initially impressed with this laptop computer. It had all the features I wanted, and the price was fair. I owned this laptop for almost two years, purchased in August of 2023. I bought this laptop for school, and I am studying engineering, so I needed something that will last the four years of my degree program, and can handle compiling various programming languages quickly. Keep in mind that this computer was only used a few hours a time, once or twice a week for 34 weeks a year, as I have a desktop at home that I use most of the time. With that said, it had issues waking up from going to sleep after using it for about two months. At first it was intermeittent and just annoying, I had to hold the power button and reboot it to get it to work. Initially I blamed it on windows, and changed the power settigns so it wouldn't go to sleep. Also the battery life isn't all that great. The advertised battery power output time is based on lowering preocessing speeds, turning off the GPU, and lowering the screen brghtness to a point where I can't see anything, as well as turning off the blue tooth and wifi. So the battery time is way overinflated. The laptop battery would also completely discharge if it sat off, and unused for more that two weeks. During summer breaks, this laptop did not really get any use. A few weeks ago (Around June 14th, 2025) I needed to use this laptop for a short project. I charged it overnight as the battery was dead, as expected. The next morning, it would not power on. I figured that it might have gone to sleep or been acidentally left on last time it was used, then the battery drained, and it went to speep or hibernated, so I held down the power button like usual to reboot, and nothing happened. Only blinking LEDs for power and status buttons. Tried holding the power button down for 60 seconds and relesaing and pressing the button again, and nothing happened. Tried this a few more times, and eventually the BIOS splash screen appeared for a while, but still wouldn't boot into windoiws. Just had the spinning circle. So held the power button down and tried to reboot. This time I got to the sign in screen, and it froze. Attemtped repairing windows, froze. Got it to finally load windows, randomly freezes. The compouter has a major issue with RAM or the motherboard. Luckily, I purchased the Asurion 4 year protection plan. They accepted the claim and I sent the laptop to be serveced. They eneded up refunding me the purchase price of the laptop as they said it could not be repaired. I was going to purchase this laptop again, but stopped and thought about it a moment. This would be the fifth ASUS laptop I've ever purchased. The fisrt one I owned lasted nearly TEN YEARS before the hinges for the screen/cover separated. I still have it, and it still works, other that the screen is crooked when opened. It's why I bought a second one in 2017, but was so poorly made, it lasted only five months. I got a refund for that one, and wrote it off as a one time fluke. I bought another vivobook in early 2021 when the lid on the fisrt one broke. I still use it, but it lacks the pefromance I need for programming and compiling code for microcontrollers, it will do it, but it is SLOW. It it acceptable for daily web browsing and, is still wroking ok. But this last one was the most expensive computer I have ever purchased. I expected it to have the quality to last for four years of college. It only got me halfway there. That is truly a disappointment, to say the least. If it it could have been repaired, I would have given five stars. It is a really poerful computer, and it will performe. It has a good screen, and nice backlit keayboard, and feels solid and is heavy. The cooling fans are quiet, and the case and keyboard are treated in an anti-microbial coating. Thescreen is even Pantone certified. The added a like of nice features and touches. The fact that it couldn't be fixed (and no reason was given), points to a lack of replacement parts. This is unacceptable. Too many items are considered "disposable", and I feel that a $1500 laptop (now reduced to $1300) shouldn't be considered 'disposable". Again, if the parts were theoretically avaliable to repair the computer, I would still have given it 5 stars on its merits alone. I will be shopping around for a replacement for this in August of 2025 when we get our refund checks from the college week before class begins. I don't think I will be purchasing this laptop gain. I am looking at some options with HP computers, as they seem to have some good reviews. I am open to other brands as well. As far as this laptop goes, be aware that ASUS quality isn't what it used to be. ... show more

  • Unreliable, sent in for hardware replacement 4 times, died ~60 days after warranty expired
First off, I have a lot of experience with computers and laptops. This laptop seemed like a good quality, but it quickly encountered multiple issues. It spent 3-4 months at Asus support, fixing the wireless adapter, screen, overheating problems, loose pieces left inside the laptop after getting it back from support, etc. Asus extended the warranty by 1 month as a courtesy, but not the 3-4 months where we didn't have the laptop in our possession. It seemed that we were past all of the major issues. Then, it just up and died. No warning, no sounds, just shutoff/blackscreen. Cannot get it to boot/post, even attempting common support fixes. Now we have a $1600 paperweight that Asus is not willing to look at again. Shame on you Asus for this abysmal quality, as well as the awful support process. I am 100% done with Asus as a brand. Never again. ... show more

  • All great except for one thing
The look of the laptop is great. The durability seems excellent. It's powerful. The only issue I had was that it would say "Secured, no internet" when I tried connecting to my wifi. Yet, every other device in the house connected just fine. I looked online and tried many things, but to no avail. I called ASUS customer service and they ran me through the troubleshooting, and nothing worked. So I returned it. I repurchased it again, and had the same issue. I called my internet provider, and a technician came by. He tried replacing the modem, and that fixed it. He said that new computers need newer modems to keep up with the advancement in technology, which makes complete sense. However, there's literally zero indication of this regarding this laptop, nor was there a suggestion of this made when I spoke to an ASUS customer service technician. Bottom line, if you buy this laptop, make sure your modem is not older than 2 or 3 years. ... show more

  • Great laptop for GIS work
I spent a ton of time trying to find a laptop within this price range that I could rely on for my geospatial work. I landed on this one and it doesn't disappoint. I like the fact that it is able to handle software like ArcGIS, CAD and Terra simultaneously without freezing or crashing.

  • Don't buy this laptop
This is the worst laptop I have ever used. Frequently, internet was disconnected and very slow to copy file from our network. Finally, this laptop said there was a problem when I turned on the laptop. I did all things I could do to fix the issue. But I could not make it work. So I just wanted to take out the ssd but I could not find it. I sent an email to Asus but I did not get any reply from Asus. ... show more
