This review is for the Vizio book 14 inch, with the i3 processor and 16gb of ram. The model per the computer is x1404za. It's not listed on Amazon but that's what it is. First this has pretty good hardware for the price of ~$300. The processor is about 4x better than the i7 in my old (10 years) laptop. The ram is fast. DDR4 3200 Mt/s which is very good and not listed so figured I'd let yall know. On task Manager it says it has Intel 8gb GPU. But I do not think this laptop has a dedicated GPU. So this might be a semi -lie. Basically it's a software that converts the CPU processor into GPU functions. But that's not the same as a dedicated GPU. Intel doesn't make GPUs anyhow. It's not a gaming laptop (regardless of the 8gb GPU listed) and I don't plan to even try to run games from it. It's probably going to be perfect though for viewing videos or anything like that. It's a work laptop for me so as long as I can do zoom, PowerPoints, and some stats software, it's prefect. The laptop is light weight which will be nice considering I pack it around daily. Additionally the housing is aesthetic. I also really like the number pad option. The screen seems pretty good. I have a 4k TV and looking back and forth, the laptop screen seems about the same quality and resolution even though technically, it's not. But it does look good. Be sure to do all the updates and bios updates when you get it. You will need a Microsoft email to set up Windows. That's how Windows works since a few versions back. Hotmail email works fine. It didn't come with a bunch of bloatware, for once! I appreciate that. Nothing like spending hours removing junk from a brand new PC. Glad they stopped doing that nonsense. Overall , had it a week. Medium level laptop with lots of power and features. Excellent value for a quality Asus line.

This 14" laptop is compact enough for travel especially on airplane seats when the table has so little space. I used to have a 17" old laptop and the screen gets "crushed" when somebody in front reclines the seat. However 14" can be little small for daily use but I am at a age using reading glasses so I don't have any problem seeing smaller words. At first I was afraid to go into a new laptop with windows 11. I got used to it very quick and no problem from the beginning. You can modify Windows 11 to look like Windows 10 but with better features. The monitor is bright and clear, pad easy to work and I can trust Asus with all its features and quality as I had Asus before. 512GB SSD is lightning fast and plenty of space after Windows 11. Even though it is Intel core i3, the 16GB Ram helps speed up with most common daily tasks even with moderately speedy games. WiFi and Bluetooth connections are fast and smooth. Honest Review After Using This Laptop for a While

I’ve been using this laptop for some time now, and here’s my honest review: Performance: For the price, this laptop is surprisingly fast. It handles everyday tasks with ease, and the performance is consistently good. Of course, it's not designed for gaming, but for work and casual use, it does the job well. Display: The screen isn’t the best, but it’s decent. It’s perfectly fine for regular use, but don't expect exceptional quality or vibrant colors. Size: The compact size can be a positive or negative depending on your preferences. If you like portability, it's great, but if you prefer a larger screen, it might feel a bit cramped. Battery Life: Unfortunately, the battery is pretty poor. It drains quickly, so you’ll likely need to keep it plugged in for longer usage. Noise and Overheating: The biggest downside for me is that when using heavy programs, the laptop gets quite noisy and overheats a lot. It’s definitely something to keep in mind if you plan on running resource-intensive tasks. Trackpad: The trackpad is another area where this laptop falls short. Sometimes, it activates the calculator mode randomly, which can be quite annoying. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s definitely something to consider if you rely heavily on the trackpad for navigation. Best value for the price!

Bought this for my father to upgrade from an older 9-10 year old laptop that became ultra slow. The laptop so far has been excellent. Very fast. It’s plastic but it’s the good durable plastic. It’s very portable and doesn’t take any room. Got the one with 500gb ssd along with 12 gb ram, so should last him a long time. All he does is pay bills, stream and check emails, which this laptop is more than beyond capable of doing. If you’re a student this is a great laptop as well. The sound is not bad, not as bad as people made it out to be. The trackpad is ok, and the numberpad on it is surprisingly pretty good. I really recommend getting a wireless mouse for this laptop however. Overall the best bang for your buck I could find. ... show more

The Dreaded Windows 11 in S Mode -- don't be fooled!

I had previously purchased this laptop in October 2024 and was completely satisfied with it until my cat ran into my room on Saturday and dumped an entire fresh cup of coffee onto it. I saw that the exact same model and OS were still offered, so I decided to purchase it again. Today when restoring my files and apps, I was greeted by S Mode! Apparently, I was sent a device with the WRONG operating system, and the Microsoft Store will NOT allow me to exit S Mode. Because the laptop just arrived, I cannot troubleshooting until April 3rd, which means I am unable to complete further tasks in the interim. I love this laptop. I needed a laptop that worked with my Cricut machine and this one did. Setup was easy and quick. When I installed my cricut machine, the laptop recognized it right away. I struggled with my previous laptop which was an aplle product. One of the features I liked was that the number keypad can be turned off and on located on the mouse pad. I like having one but don’t need to use it much but is great to have when you do. Having it on the mouse pad makes the laptop a smaller, sleeker size. ... show more

let me start by saying this laptop is fast enough at the price point and is enough for very, very basic web browsing and emails. everything else is a no go. even playing youtube the fans cranked up to max. it has 16 gigs of ram but the ram is so low in speed it could have 64 and feel like 4 gigs, it’s also constantly running ASUS’ bloatware in the background and a million random things from windows. expected, but the laptop simply can’t function correctly with all of that going on. the best aspect at this price point is the processor, it’s not bad, but the ram and iGPU integrated with it makes it super slow. windows constantly freezes up, start menu doesn’t open (have to reboot and lose all of my tabs i had open) and if you’ve used windows before, you know you can’t open apps without the start menu. text boxes get glitchy and won’t let me type, and just general random glitches. the screen quality and contrast/viewing angle are horrid. expected for a cheap laptop, but i’m convinced a chromebook for $100 at walmart is better than the screen on this. this wasn’t a big issue for me as i had it hooked up to an external monitor. i will say externally the HDMI supports up to 120hz, though. the battery life is really, really bad. i mean that’s just that. light web browsing for 3 hours or so and the battery seems to drop 50 percent, and that’s with constant sleeping and on low performance mode, with the brightness lower than max. speakers are decent, expected for a laptop at this price point. haven’t tested the camera as i dont need it for anything. trackpad and keyboard are probably the best part of this laptop. the trackpad features a “touch” keypad and it’s pretty nice to use. keyboard feels great aswell. offers plenty of I/O ports. durability wise, i don’t take it to work or anything but just for personal use so no definite say on it, but it seems decent along with the build quality. of course, again, expected at this price point. made of plastic but still feels mid-tier. overall if you just need something for shopping, email, or business use (that can be used on a web browser) this would work for you. note that it does heat up a lot and very fast, like within a minute of booting up so keep a laptop stand on handy as it does have a fan inside. ... show more
