  • I like it
All right, I'm not some techy who can rattle off all the technical stuff for you. I'm just a busy single mom and business owner, and I specifically ordered this for my business. I love the big screen. It's the biggest screen I've had on a laptop. I have an extensive raised setup for my laptop then I use an external keyboard and mouse. I have learned in all my years with laptops the keys on the laptop just get all messed up. That's why I started using external keyboards, because the keys would stop working. Then I realized how amazing it is to type with an external keyboard and I'll never go back to typing on the laptop itself. Set up with super easy and I followed the instructions. The battery doesn't last super long with this big computer, but it seems to last longer than I expected. I have to keep reminding myself to unplug the power source so it has an opportunity to go dead versus being plugged in 24/7 as I messed up my last computer by forgetting to do that. What's great us this computer also reminds me sometimes to unplug the cord which I didn't realize until later. So far I'm just using basic features such as word, calculator, browser connected to my business, and YouTube for music. I set up an external speaker because the computer speakers are not really that loud for music. I had no problem setting up my regular and label printer everything connected nicely. I haven't noticed any issues, and I didn't have any problems setting things up or things crashing. I'm not really a fan of when you first do the required registration with windows how it connects to your previous Windows experience and remembered things. I haven't had a new laptop in 6 years so I haven't really seen what has happened with Windows since then. Once I set everything up and it was ready to go the screensaver I had on the last laptop was remembered and put on this one and it was just alarming to me and I am not a fan of that spying sort of stuff. I don't like those robotic personal assistants either. Technology has just been pushing the limits a little too much and I don't like people in my business. I wish computers came with free Microsoft office like they used to because all I could get was a 30 day free trial. We pay enough so I think they should be included. Anyway, so far I'm happy with it. ... show more

  • Purchased in July 2021 - Dead in May 2024
I have no idea what went wrong with this laptop but I am not a fan! From the beginning I noticed the battery life was nil - it would last 2 hours at the most. I possibly got 1 good year of use out of this computer for Photoshop and work (not gaming) then it was left in storage (climate controlled for 2 years). I pulled it out from storage in March 2024 and IT DIED TODAY! I took it to Best Buy Geek Squad who tried a new cord and pulled the battery. They say it's the motherboard. So disappointed! ... show more

  • Good value
I went back to Asus after buying a Lenovo for myself and one for my wife, and being utterly disgusted with the Lenovo, it's a POS I ordered the used Asus laptop, for under $200. I received an X712DAP model, far quicker than promised, in excellent condition. It booted quickly, and worked well. I looked in advance to see about upgrades. It absolutely WILL accept a 16GB memory upgrade, and I had a Crucial stick left over from the POS Lenovo. It installed quickly and easily, the gain in speed was substantial. I was disappointed in the 256GB NVME SSD. However, for under $100, I bought a Western Digital Black gaming SSD, with 1TB capacity. I was able to clone the OE SSD to the WD Black SSD, and easily swapped it in. A quick use of Disk Management in Windows 10 allowed full access to the full 1TB. There are a couple of downsides, the keyboard is NOT backlit, as others have stated, and the visibility is pretty poor. Also, it doesn't have a port for a LAN cable. The wifi works well, though, and with multiple USB ports, you can connect LAN that way. Given the original $200 price, I was not disappointed. And having spent a total of $110 for a hard drive and memory upgrade, I'm happy with a $325 or so 17" laptop. It's only got a Ryzen 3 3250 CPU, and a mediocre on board Radeon graphics chip, so you're not looking at a high end laptop. But for what I invested, I'm more than satisfied. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. ... show more

  • Good quality for the price
I had a chromebook for a couple of years because it was cheap. When I finally got tired of the limitations of that laptop I started searching on-line for the best reasonably priced computer. I looked at all the big name models with touch screen and without. My wife had an ASUS for several years and I was impressed with the features. When I saw this one with a 17 inch screen, solid state storage, fast processor and windows 10 not 10S I jumped on it. I bought it for less than $500. Can't beat that. Couldn't get a better one cheaper at Costco. ... show more

  • Great value!
You turn it on and BOOM! It's up and fully running. No waiting for everything to load. The screen quality is excellent. Vivid colors. The keyboard is NOT backlit as I expected, but I am guessing they meant the screen is backlit. I have had this for a few days, so I don't know how durable it is, but, so far I am highly impressed. Also, bear in mind that I am not a gamer, just a regular Internet use and productivity applications for work. I haven't a clue how well it would handle games. ... show more
