  • Using with a 9900X, good motherboard, no issues so far
Style: TUF B850-Plus|DDR5|PCIe 5.0|M.2 x3|WiFi 7 Size: ATX
I'm not a gamer. I use my personal computer for various hobbies, such as routing circuit boards, rendering video, the occasional AI project, running Linux VMs, etc. I had no trouble at all with this motherboard. I purchased 64GB of DDR5 RAM at the same time, as well as a new 9900X CPU, a Noctua cooler, and a Samsung 990 SSD. All of this worked well and booted properly on the first time. I burned in the system using Ubuntu 24.04 live distribution on a USB stick, ran some performance tests, and used Ubuntu to copy over my existing Windows 10 image onto the new Samsung SSD. Unlike the other reviewer, I had no problem using the Wifi under Ubuntu. I don't use Wifi on Windows, so I wouldn't know whether it works there or not. As a productivity user, I don't really care about some of the "Gamer" features of this motherboards, nor do I care about aesthetics like glowing LED lights. I picked the Tuf series over the ASUS B840 because it seemed like a beefier build overall. The only drawback is the relatively large heatsink at the rear of the motherboard -- it precludes me from the possibility of installing a second fan on my Noctua cooler. I'm skeptical whether such a large heatsink generates any real benefit, other whether it is done for appearance sake. Nevertheless, I don't really need that second fan anyway. Installing the SSDs was a little bit unorthodox with a plastic springy clip that ASUS uses rather than a screw, but it worked fine. There's a hefty heat sink that fits over the SSDs and will further hold them snugly in place. One complication I had during boot was that I had the enable Compatibility Support Mode (CSM) to get it to boot from the Samsung 990 SSD. Not sure if that's typical or if it was because of the idiosyncrasy of the existing SSD image that I brought over from my old computer (it was a new Samsung 990 SSD, but an existing image that I wrote to it). All things considered, a good motherboard that feels like it's more than tuf enough for my needs. ... show more

  • Excellent value and high quality motherboard
Style: TUF B650-Plus|DDR5|PCIE 5.0|M.2 x3|WiFi 6 Size: ATX
Excellent motherboard, I have had zero issues with it, and it is very reliable even two years later. ASUS also made it so you don't have to install Armoury Crate anymore and can just install a driver update manager, which is good to see from a landscape of bloatware on modern desktops.

  • Reliability
Style: TUF B650-Plus|DDR5|PCIE 5.0|M.2 x3|WiFi 6 Size: ATX
Simply just works. Tried a MSI tuf gaming one and just could not get it to book this motherboard same exactly components. Did my research before and this motherboard ran it flawlessly when the MSI couldn’t even turn on and keep up just kept shutting down after a few seconds. This motherboard was so worth the buy and I don’t care what anyone says. I’m going ASUS every time. Every every time. One word. Reliability. ... show more

  • A couple poor design choices, but overall good model
Style: TUF B850M-Plus|DDR5|PCIE 5.0|M.2 x3|WiFi 6E Size: mATX
Motherboard is great. My 9800X3D works on it right out of the box, no BIOS upgrade needed. I wish they included more M.2 rubber pads for single sided SSD’s. They include 2 but there’s three slots, so you’ll need 3 if you plan on filling all 3 slots with single-sided NVMe’s. The PCIe slot leaves a lot of be desired. The releasing mechanism is so flimsy that it’s never once worked well. You push down the latch and it doesn’t help to eject the graphics card. It flips up but slides past the graphics card, pinning it in the open position. Cheap design. Other than that, I have no complaints. Plenty of USB ports and support for lots of RGB and fans. One last thing I want to mention is the board came with two slightly bent pins for something on the bottom left of the board. I don’t have the manual in front of me nor did I use it, but it arrived bent, like it was manufactured like that, but not supposed to be that way. Doesn’t really affect my use case but I wanted to mention everything. ... show more

  • This was a waste of time and money
Style: TUF B650-Plus|DDR5|PCIE 5.0|M.2 x3|WiFi 6 Size: ATX
Again and again I had crashes with this board, replaced the video card (regret there, but it seemed like that was the problem). Audio hissing and pops, okay, fine- typical from realtek, but it even made noise when the machine was *off*. Eventually this motherboard determined the CPU was bad, and refused to boot. Checking online, reseating the CPU might solve the problem. So I did (which means more wasted thermal paste), and then, finally it determined that the issue was I had USB power overloads. Even when I unplugged EVERY USB device on the the board. It just wouldn't boot. I spent over a month and am now outside my return window. The solution? I bought an ASRock motherboard and it's been fine. This product is trash, and ASUS should be ashamed for making it. I've been building computers since 1988, and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. Absolute junk. And the ASRock board? Not only does it "just work", it's got a 100% better UI for the BIOS. ASUS bios still feels like it's 1990.. I would not recommend. I don't even know what to do with this trash. This *probably* cost me $400 because of me not knowing WHAT exactly is wrong; I spent $1200 on a GPU and based on it constantly crashing, I went all out and spent $1700 on another, then the board just decided a permanent reboot loop at 15 seconds due to USB issues (with NO usb plugged in) was how it wanted to go. Maybe I just got a bad board, but if you google ASUS motherboard, I sure don't seem to be the only one. 100% money wasted Edit: sent to ASUS for repair, they refuse warranty repair claiming there is a bent CPU pin, which is somehow my fault. They want $130 to repair it, at which point they will send a replacement. I didn't bend it, it came that way. I can't even imagine what you could do to bend one (1) pin and not affect any of the ones around it. So apparently they aren't QCing their boards and blame the customer. I'm 100% out the $220 I spent on this board, they wanted to kick it up to $350, and on top of that, I had to pay $25 to send it in for an RMA they denied. Do not do business with ASUS. I'll be looking into litigation over this one. ... show more
