This laptop is exactly what I wanted. All AMD and great performance. It chews through my video edits easily. I'm able to edit and play back 4k in realtime while editing, no problem. For gaming, I've so far tried BF 2042, Dirt Rally 2.0, World of Warcraft, and Spin Tires Mudrunner. It can handle them all at high or ultra settings and easily gets 140-170fps in each game. I love that it has two USB-C ports and one that is 4.0. It makes gaming from an external drive totally feasible. The I/O is generally good. Some people point out the WiFi card as a weakness, but I've had no issues so far. The stock 512gb drive is still running Win11. Nothing really was needed to set it up. Just turn it on and deal with the Windows BS and go. I've installed a 2tb m.2 2280 NVME that's dedicated to Linux. Being all AMD, it runs great on Linux and that is where I spend most of my time. I'm using Fedora with no troubles. All the games listed above, except for BF2042 (thanks EA), I play on Fedora and it's awesome. I'm also doing most of my video and photo editing there. I wish the drive it came with was larger, but it's also easily replaceable if I decide to upgrade it. Speaking of replacements, I upgraded it to 64gb of RAM immediately. That should be the max the CPU can handle, at 4800mt/s. Stock, it would heat the CPU up to around 95°C pretty frequently while gaming. After the new RAM, it rarely exceeds 90°C. I paired that with one of the cooling pads with a foam seal, single large fan, and filtered intake and the laptop now stays below 85°C no matter what. This should keep it running great for a long time. Lastly, the screen and keyboard are pretty nice as well. The screen color is great and seems super accurate. Not the brightest screen ever, but plenty good for me (an upgrade from my ancient Alienware 17"). I like the ASUS chiclet keyboard, and really love having the numpad, the dedicated volume buttons above the F keys, and the basic backlighting. ... show more

    • A Great Machine
This computer is everything I wanted in a system. I've had it for about a month now and it absolutely out performs everything I throw at it. Light gaming is a breeze and heavy games such as GTA and Need For Speed as well as a few emulators can be ran a ultra settings no problem. Battery performance is also good when you're not gaming. Creating a power plan got me about 7-9 hours out of it while doing some light browsing. The 1920x1200 screen is the absolute best. Vivid Colors all around and with the slim bezels, it makes the experience more immersive. While it's a great machine, I had an issue for the first couple weeks. Whenever I would put the computer to sleep, I was unable to awake it without the use of the charger. That issue has since resolved itself. I speculate that it was because it was not turned on for so long that the battery needed time to recalibrate? I am not sure but I no longer have this issue. ... show more

amazing hardware and runs games flawlessly, however Asus seems to have skimped a bit too hard in the hardware reliability/testing on these...haven't even had it for more than about a month now and the power supply completely died literally a few days out of the return period window which is quite frustrating. also the asus software is an absolute nightmare and caused so many issues all over the place! uninstall it as soon as you get the machine and use a 3rd party software called G helper. It made a world of difference for it in terms of performance,reliability, and battery life! battery life in particular is great after using g helper you can use it for normal non gaming use for around 8-12 hours on average from my use case of typing up reports and internet browsing and watching movies most of the day while working. also it has a 2nd slot for another M.2 ssd and the ram is completely upgradable up to 64gb I installed a 2nd drive and upgraded the ram and tried a few different Linux Distributions on the secondary drive I added and they all ran flawlessly, oftentimes better than windows honestly but without ghelper the battery life did take a bit of a nosedive overall. The speakers are passable...not great but not awful either, they get the job done for gaming but the fan noise when the laptop is pushed hard with games can be a bit overbearing unless you max the speakers out and even then it'll still be heard alongside the fans and not over them. screen's also 1200p and is passably bright, better than most budget business laptops and laptops around its price range overall and barring a few stupid branding logos inside the laptop it looks mostly like a business laptop if not a bit thicker. If you're looking for a solid budget gaming laptop that doesn't look gawdy like msi and won't completely fall apart this is a great one to look at and shop around for, they go on sale often so shop around. I managed to pick one up from bestbuy fot instance for 600$ for a family member's christmas gift for this year. ... show more

    • Lots of random small issues
I bought this laptop just under a year ago. It worked pretty good for a while, but the main problems I have is that the battery life is terrible even when I'm not playing video games and just doing regular boring computer stuff. The screws on the bottom plate started randomly falling out and even after I went in a tightened all of them I have still managed to loose around half of them causing the bottom plate to be quite loose. And I'm not a huge computer person so I'm not 100% sure what is causing this but randomly the computer will get the blue screen of death, reboot itself and then be completely fine. I've never had this happen with any of my other laptops and I only use it for my school homework and playing a few games that I got off of steam. Also the power cord stopped working like 6 months after I bought the computer so I had to buy another 30$ charging cord. Tbh I don't really like the computer that much and I feel like I'm having way to many issues with a less then 1 year old computer and if it was still within the return window I would swap it out for a different one ... show more

So... I want to love this thing, I want it to be my main machine, I want to take it everywhere with me BUT: the Battery life is not good on high to mid settings, it's heavy and the lid is an odd shape, and three days after getting it Asus updated the Bios with out my consent and disabled all USB 4 functions... Why, Asus. Why!? However, it is still a really good mobile workstation that plays PoE2 well enough. ... show more
