  • Excellent gaming laptop
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
This laptop particularly the one with the 2060 rtx graphics card is excellent. I mainly play Destiny 2 on it and it runs good (considering the game has so much detail and a lot of stuff to strain performance) It would fluctuate in the 60's and 70's (fps) most of the time, and hit 40's sometimes. I don't think D2 is a good way to show it since even on killer desktops, the game goes down into the shitter. I installed RDR2 and it runs very smooth, the same with GTA V. (all on ultra graphics). The screen is also very good and I used to play on a crappy monitor and the 144hz feels amazing. The bad stuff This laptop has downfalls, and some annoying ones, not with the hardware, but you'll see what I mean. After 3 months I have some dead pixels, albeit very faint and only noticeable with a fully black screen. Next the noise, now I have no empierce on previous laptops and didn't know how much noise they would emit, but, sometimes, I thought I was playing next to a Boeing 737 plane turbine. And lastly, the most annoying part; I DON'T WANT YOUR FRICKING ANTI-VIRUS STOP TELLING ME ABOUT IT. Every time you boot it up and when you first get it, it will keep telling you to buy their anti-virus software even if you click "accept risk" they will keep asking you. Overall the laptop is great and also for people that didn't expect it like me, the games runs like doggy doo when the laptop is not connected to the charger. ... show more

  • More powerful than my old desktop
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
I accidentally ruined my old desktop, it was a gift and had sentimental value. I grieved the loss for months, deciding if I even wanted to fix it and found other hobbies outside of gaming. But many of my talents and hobbies involve computers and I missed having one. My tax refund came around and I developed a budget for computer parts around this price, but if I repaired my desktop I would only have enough to fix what was broken. I've never taken gaming laptops seriously, overheating enough to singe the hair off your legs being the main bullet point. I decided to look at laptops and see what kind of hardware they had since my desktop was so outdated. It was very important to me that it could run Red Dead Redemption at 60 fps at 1080p resolution and would be able to play Bannerlord and Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 which weren't out yet. I looked into the minimum and recommended specs for each game and was pleased to see that this laptop meets or exceeds the recommended hardware. Upon receiving it I was careful to update Windows fully and download the latest graphics drivers from Nvidia. The laptop comes with it's own software for controlling the fans and overclocking. I keep my fans on turbo as I never turn off my PC and basically use it like you might a tower. I bought a powered USB 3 hub that extends the amount of USBs I can have at once and plug my old keyboard, mouse, headset and mic into it. I have a nice monitor I enjoy, but it's only 60 hertz so I bought a nice HDMI cable that is capable of reaching that refresh rate comfortably. The only issues I've had so far have been with Windows and it's updates, but now that I'm fully updated it's all been resolved. I would recommend looking at your power options and maybe disabling hibernation/sleep mode while plugged in. I run all my games either on highest settings or slightly tweaked to disable things I don't care for. I'm a hobbyist programmer who dabbles in game development and have experience with the usual game options and can vouch for this laptop's hardware and capabilities. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it for the price. ... show more

  • I love this laptop, but it is flawed. I think this model is likely a balance between two flaws.
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
I'm an IT professional and a life long PC gamer, so you give me any piece of tech and I'll end up drawing up a long pro/con list for it. This laptop is the best deal I've ever gotten for my money in terms of components and form factor. Here are my gripes: "Ryzen 7" CPU is actually a mid-range CPU that has 4 cores instead of 8. This has led to CPU bottlenecking in games. There's only one heat dissipation assembly for both the CPU and the GPU, and only one temperature sensor between the two. When set to high performance/cooling boost mode, sometimes the fans can spin so fast for so long that they start to come off their bearings and grind (particularly with the GPU fan on the right side) So my CPU is weak, but the thermals are also less than ideal. I see there is a newly updated model with a 4800H Ryzen in it, which actually is an 8-core CPU suitable for gaming, but I don't think any of the internals have changed otherwise, and I feel like (as with most gaming laptops) the thermals really become the main impediment. In the winter, I tried to use this laptop as a backup space heater and did some folding@home for COVID, but when the laptop's CPU and GPU are both 100% utilized, the system shuts down from overheating (and the fan likely grinds when it boots back up -- oddly enough an issue that has "fixed itself" a few times, likely due to BIOS fan control quirkiness). If I had to rank this laptop out of 10, I'd give it a 7.5. If it came with an 8-core CPU, it would've been an 8.5. If the thermals were more effective, it would be a 9.5. ... show more

  • So far, so good!
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
My boyfriend was probably more excited about this computer than I was. He is always stealing it to play Smite, Halo, anything really. He prefers to hook it up to his monitor over his own computer. I just love it for Minecraft, Don't Starve together, and general writing. I'm not good with techniqual terms so I can only confirm for the amateurs like me out that it runs beautifully and smoothly, games nearly never lag, and I love the way it looks and runs. Plus, unless you're running a really heavy game, the battery last for hours, even watching shows. ... show more

  • Laptop is great, Asus wouldn't exchange defective charger.
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
The laptop itself is fine, works great. But I bought one and the charger was overheating to the point where it was too hot to touch and stopped charging. Asus would not replace the charger, they wanted me to send the entire laptop in for repair. It was less than a week old, I just wanted to exchange it for different charger and they made it difficult. I ended up returning the whole laptop and getting a new one. ... show more

  • Everything is going to break on it.
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
Bought this before stimulus checks went out at around 1k. The moment stimulus checks went out, they shot up the price to $1200, so that's a red flag right there. But let's go over just how terrible this is. 1. It's made with reclaimed parts. How do I know this? The SSD shipped with it had a windows.old file. They forgot to delete it. Micheal, if you're out there, League of Legends is a horrible game and you should play something else. 2. Straight up had sound driver issues. Took a few hours of tinkering to fix it, eventually had to reinstall the entire sound driver through its website. 3. It runs stupidly hot. This is to be expected. But the fans stop functioning properly after a few months. This is significantly less expected. Had to replace the fans and the new ones started to rattle hard after a month. 4. Battery life doesn't exist. Unplug it for 45 minutes to watch youtube in the kitchen and you're running to find an outlet. 5. The motherboard died after 1.5 years. The CPU is basically soldered in and can't be removed, along with all of the expensive components. I did salvage the wifi and SSD for a home built tower, though. Replacing the motherboard is *not* an option. It costs $900 to replace it from ASUS. And you won't find it online, either. Good luck removing the CPU too. 6. The GPU began to die after 1.25 years of use. On top of this, it began to blue screen for fun. I'm not a super hardcore gamer; in fact, it literally died when I was simply writing in Google Docs, with no background processes running and no games on standby. As in, the entire computer shut down and wouldn't start again. Why? Motherboard fried. 7. WASD keys were rubbed away in a month. They eventually had massive grooves in them from use. Terrible design choice overall. 8. Wifi card died at one point within the first six months. Replacement was $60. It did run at okay speed, though. Could definitely handle a lot of the newer games. But I literally have a 1050TI in this tower, a six year old GPU, and I'm able to run all of the same games in slightly lower quality but at decent speed. And the total build for this tower cost me like, $700. TLDR: Build a tower. Avoid gaming laptops unless if you are *really* into LAN parties and staring at your screen awkwardly on a plane, with no Wifi because you're too cheap to get the Plane Wifi. Or if you like people seeing your Discord messages in public. And finally, get a gaming laptop if you enjoy the constant crippling fear of someone taking it out of your bag at all times, great for anxiety lmao. ... show more

  • A++
Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
After adding a 1tb 2.5 ssd this is hands down the best gaming laptop I have found for the price range. On battery with performance mode on, GTA Online plays for about 100 minutes before getting critical battery alarm. This is understandable bc of the quality I am playing at is way above medium. With bluetooth included I was able to link a new xbox one controller with no issues and haven't looked back yet. RTX2060 is way better than the GTX1050ti and for an extra $150 its is well worth it. 1080p gaming is perfectly fine for any laptop gaming, and this having a refresh rate capable of 144hz, games are beautiful. I haven't found any complaints about this laptop yet. ... show more

Style: 16 GB RAM | 512 GB SSD
Laptop battery was 0% when arrived, Downloaded steam, started Halo: Reach. ran good for a few minutes fan started getting loud and crashed. Now it just crashes every time a game is started. Reach runs perfect on my Desktop... I really regret spending this much ($1,188.98) on such a cheap PC. ----------------------- Pros: Good CPU and GPU combination for the price (RTX 2060 + Ryzen 7 3750H) 1080p screen is Crisp and accurate color. (Viewing angle and contrast is awful) Cons: Besides it crashes now every time a game is played Laptop build quality is cheap plastic made to look like metal. RGB keyboard is only one zone and is brighter on some keys. Fan is very loud on normal setting, at silent it is still audible and the FPS tanks. Very limited I/O and cheap looking screen. Very cheap speakers no subwoofer and no bass on stereo speakers. HDMI only so you're capped at 60FPS at 4k. what a shame. Huge 1.5" Chin under the screen. Unacceptable camera. any phone from 10 years ago looks better. Mcafee spyware preinstalled. ... show more
