After a year and change of having this laptop, I have found that it is breaking more and more frequently. After adding 32gb of 5600Mhz ram to the base model, it started heating up excessively despite official sources claiming there would be negligible effects. The control key popped open two months in, and keys are quickly wearing down faster than anticipated. I game actively on this computer, often running modded games that demand more computation than visual effects, and yet the heat at its absolute worst has pushed to nearly 104°F: This heat is expected. However, this led to the heatsink melting the mounts that hold the brass nuts to the bottom case; my laptop has had both brackets near the heatsinks melt towards the back of the computer, resulting in me having to repair them myself as the hinges of the computer rely on the screws that it melted loose. I am in awe at a computer not being designed to withstand heats the CPU and GPU are designed for. To make matters worse, one of the screw brackets were faulty and broke the entire mount containing the bracket free, once again resulting in me losing another screw from the bottom of my laptop. I currently have 9 of the 12 screws needed to keep my bottom plate connected to my laptop, and of those 9, both that are required to keep the hinge tight are melted free. Finally, the DC Jack does not charge properly anymore. After noticing the computer rapidly charging and discharging, I thought it was just my charger, but then I found that it only charges when constant force is applied in. This causes a lot of heat from the charger, and I now need to hold it against a wall just to charge it. Between the constant hardware and software issues leading to it being a slow to start, quick to crash computer, I can't say that I have had an easy time with this computer. I wanted to love this computer without regret, but it seems the advertisement that it was an easy to upgrade laptop was not one thought all the way through, and I am disappointed to see a laptop I have cared for fall to ruin because it was not designed as a gaming laptop. Overall, it's a good computer to have for light gaming, but heavy gaming or any upgrades made will lead to possible overheating, and connection issues with the charger may occur with time. ... show more
