  • Starting to loose my temper. Bad support, unfinished software.
The media could not be loaded. If you want a board what turns off when you shutdown, do not buy this one. More on this issue later. I have had several issues with this motherboard. These last issues however are problems I can't seem to get resolved. The VRM fans are making a horrible noise. Sounds like mice are playing the kazoo inside my case. I would like to just purchase a replacement fan and move on. Asus support does not know where to get replacement fans for this (brand new, flagship) motherboard either. The support person said it will take up to 48 hours to get this information. I would HATE to have to break this build down to RMA the motherboard over a noisy fan. -update I am done with ASUS. Last year I got the Gigabyte AORUS Extreme. No issues with that board. I should have got another one instead of this joke. It is a minor problem that the support department has to escalate me to 3rd level support. FOR A FAN!!! They should be ashamed that the first level or second level can't deal with this. Asus 3rd level support just emailed me back. They sent me directions on how to trouble shoot a network issue. This is unbelievable. I am going to post this email exchange with half answers and answers to questions I have never asked. Its like I am dealing with cartoon characters'. I just want a fan. Now to add insult to injury. The software to run the LiveDash and lighting conflict with each other. I had to switch to their replacement bloated software (Armory Crate). By default the RGB and LiveDash stay on even though you turn off the computer. You have to search the settings of their worthless software to find out you can turn off the RGB with the computer shutdown, but the live dash flashing stays on. I have shopped on Amazon for a long time. This will be my first time saying do not waste your time or money on this expensive board or with ASUS for the following reasons. 1. Bad support from people who don't bother reading the support ticket before sending answers. 2. Conflicting software that is still on their site for download. 3. Unfinished software replacement. 4. Boards that do not turn off when you shutdown. ... show more

  • Excellent upgrade from the original Zenith Extreme
I am very pleased with the Asus Zenith Extreme Alpha. It’s a nice upgrade from the Zenith Extreme with all the necessary fixes so many of us suggested. I decided to give the Alpha a try and it’s worth the wait. Be sure to disable the Intel wireless card as suggested by ASUS. There is a printed piece of paper in the box, so follow the instructions to avoid issues with certain Windows 10 builds. The setup was easy and as I expected. Once I hooked up all my parts, I booted into the BIOS and immediately updated to the latest BIOS which is 0405. Pros- I currently have 4x16gb sticks of Corsair RGB Pro 3200 DDR in this PC. In the BIOS when I setup XMP(called DOCP in the BIOS), it auto set the timings and voltage correctly. Overclocking works great for my 2950x. The board is very stable with no issues. Cons- Asus software can be messy… I am very picky with ram, so I only use ram recommended by AMD. It’s not really a con, but for the best performance use quality ram. ... show more

  • Couldn't register my product online so Asus support did it for me
Board boots up fine. Will know more once I stage a build. Had a problem registering product so I contacted Asus support who sent an email which my user account is under. I provided them a receipt form here and a screen shot of the S/N on the side of the box and they will register for me. I've been a loyal user of Asus motherboards and graphic cards since 2006, had very few problems with them. ... show more

  • If you're using a second gen threadripper (2950) you will probably have to flash the bios.
Installation went fairly well except I couldn't get it to post, finally realized the bios were probably old after watching LTT struggle with it. Flashing the bios is easy with the left USB on back panel, but with a board this expensive it would have been nice to just have it working out of the box for the CPU it's being advertised for. Otherwise love the LCD display with temps which helped me quickly figure out my AIO wasn't working and so far haven't had any issues. ... show more

  • OK but not premium as the advertising
Looks good and that's about it . Sadly the drivers are trash for wireless and SupremeFX Audio. Sadly if you expect to use the features you paid for on this board forget it they will be working on generic drivers from where you can get them Asus has already tossed support down the road for this product as far as I can tell . Crippled drivers no fix in sight and Micro Crap keeps breaking their OS so is it the drivers or the OS ? Looks like a bit of both. If your x399 buy something else that has a working developed Bios this thing is a train wreck. Asus won't be fixing this flash in the pan ever. It works kinda if you only use a single graphics card plugging certain devices to the pcie bus causes all kinds of bugs. ... show more

  • Never buy from Asus, BUYER BEWARE.
We ordered the Asus ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha, for reference. The 1st product broke, we got a replacement and it didn't work, just gave two errors. Memory 00 and cpu 00. When pressing start it said memory 00, and if you pressed reset, it'd switch to cpu 00 and then soon go back to memory 00. We replaced the cpu and ram and the issue persisted. Due to how long it took to replace both parts, we were out of the 30 day replacement period. So we got in contact with asus, and they say "since you've already RMA'd the cpu, its probably the motherboard.". So we sent in the motherboard and they cant repair, refuse to replace it, and are only willing to give us a refurbished model. This is ridiculous a $630 dollar product, on top of that, their tech support wasn't that good and even if you sent an email quickly after they responded, they'd take another day and sometimes even two to respond. I would absolutely not recommend anyone buy this product, and to be wary of their other products. As a side note, there was NOT any user damage, and the product refused to boot right out of the box. ... show more
