  • Perfect Hardware, Terrible Software
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
The keyboard itself is amazing. Build quality is excellent, the keys themselves are buttery smooth and have a pleasing sound. Mine is attached via USB-C but having the option of Bluetooth and wireless are nice to have. Coming from a full-sized keyboard I was initially worried about going to a compact "96%" layout, but I completely adapted to the smaller layout in ten minutes. The software, however is a real sticking point. I thought other reviews were exaggerating about the awfulness of the Armoury Crate software, but if anything they undersold it. You have to register to access full functionality and even then, the Aura Sync feature is utterly broken, which means you're limited to basic, one layer RGB effects. After around 4 hours of troubleshooting I gave up and switched to third-party RGB software and it works great. At the sale price, this keyboard is a great buy as long as you understand the software to control its lighting does not work. ... show more

  • Excellent First Mechanical Keyboard – Premium Feel and Amazing Battery Life
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
This is my first time using a mechanical keyboard and honestly, I can confirm this feels incredible right out of the box. ASUS definitely did not disappoint with the quality. The keyboard has a solid weight to it and feels extremely well made and premium. I absolutely love the design and aesthetic, especially the 96% layout. I truly believe 96% is one of the best sizes for both gaming and productivity because you still get almost all the keys from a full-size keyboard while saving plenty of space for your mouse. One thing that really surprised me was the battery life. I played wirelessly for two days, around 3-hour sessions each day, and the battery only dropped by 1%. That honestly impressed me a lot. The RGB lighting is also super bright and vibrant. I really don’t have anything negative to say so far. I got it at a great price, and it honestly feels like one of the best investments I’ve made for my gaming setup. The aluminum plate feels premium, and the sound of the keyboard is amazing. I also ended up really liking the included wrist rest, something I originally thought I wouldn’t need, but it turned out to be very comfortable and useful. I’ve also played around with Armoury Crate a little bit and had no issues with it. It seems functional and easy enough to use. ... show more

  • Tri-Mode is a great addition, Armoury Crate Software is the only CON Tri-Mode is a great addition, Armoury Crate Software is the only CON
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
Nice and buttery with the Snow Linear switches, this is the best "clunk" I have had on a keyboard. Its is slightly heavy, but that just adds to the premium feel of the keyboard. Typing is great, I love how the keys are sloped and gaming is even better, so responsive, almost too responsive at times, but that's a fair trade for me. The Only bad thing is the Armoury crate software and its extra "gear" add on. Its not the worst software but it is an integrated nightmare at times. For the price, this is a decent value, there may be more value out there, but I have this way up in A tier. Battery lasts a very long time while gaming and every day use. ... show more

  • Quality build, Quality Switches, Quality Lighting, Sub-Par Software That Works Well Enough
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Storm Clicky
I have been looking for a way to have clicky switches on a board that would allow me to hot swap any time I felt like I needed a change. After doing extensive research, I settled with this Strix Scope II 96 because it was the only board I could find from Asus with the RX Storm switches. Most variants, even on the new Strix Scope II X, only have the RX Snow switches, which are linear. I couldn't find another keeb with the RX Storm switches than this one. I have to say, though, I am extremely satisfied with the build quality and feel of each click. Each press of the key as I typed felt like I finally had more control over what key I was pressing with the satisfaction of a tactile click. I was pleased to be reminded that it is harder to accidently hit keys on a clicky switch. Linear switches often lead me to accidental keypresses, which bugged me. While I have not attempted one of my longer gaming sessions with this keyboard just yet, I have typed quite a bit, and the experience is very nice indeed. The weight of each key is heavy enough that I have to want to press the key, but not so heavy that I have to try too hard to type. I think my only complaint is Armoury Crate, Asus' software to customize the keyboard and it's lighting (which by the way, the lighting looks beautiful and bright. I'm a fan). AC is a little janky, and I had some weird issues trying to update the wireless capabilities and keyboard it self. After a while, though, I was able to finally update everything in the software and it seems that everything works fine now. AC uses Window's adaptive lighting features in Windows 11 to control the lighting effects on the keyboard. It was a little troublesome at first, but once I got it to work, I'm very satisfied with how easy it is to change up my keyboard's lighting and effects. While Armoury Crate is a little wonky, once I set up everything to my liking, the typing experience was blissful. 5/5 ... show more

  • Excellent Keyboard! Very high quality and attention to detail!
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
I wanted a keyboard that had BT, RF and wired connectivity, and backlight with long battery life. on paper this keyboard met that criteria. I had a Logitech G515 and was not impressed on first opening. it had a laughable battery life, and you cannot change anything (lights, etc) without logitechs software, and you can't read the keys without the light on! Coming from the logitech, when i opened the package of the Asus ROG Strix Scope II keyboard, my only words were WOW! Packaging was excellent and top notch, the keyboard was firm, keys sounded great and the lighting is amazing! It is also a fully size keyboard (keys) in a 96% footprint! The sound of the keys are muffled but very pleasant and great feel. the function combination of the keys is very easy and the keys are very easy to read. (Even with the LEDs off! lol) You can easily change the colors and functions on this keyboard without the software which is exactly what i was looking for. if you use the software you can do even more! All around this keyboard is fantastic, and it puts the logitech keyboard to shame at about the same price. Too soon to tell on the battery life but on paper it is 1500 hours. (the logitech is 36! lmao) I am very happy I got this keyboard and highly recommend this keyboard if you are considering a wireless option for games or office! ... show more

  • Best keyboard on the market, hands down.
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
I rarely write any long reviews but this keyboard deserves a standing ovation! Initial Impressions: Upon unboxing the ASUS ROG Strix Scope II Keyboard, I was immediately struck by its sleek design and the quality of materials used. The keyboard feels substantial, and the matte finish combined with the striking RGB backlighting promised a blend of aesthetics and functionality. The setup was straightforward, connecting flawlessly to my gaming rig with minimal effort. Build Quality & Design: The durability of the Strix Scope II is evident from its solid aluminum frame which provides stability and a premium touch. The RGB lighting is brilliantly executed, offering a spectrum of colors that are both vibrant and customizable through an intuitive software interface. Key Performance: The mechanical switches under each key are a highlight, providing that perfect tactile feedback without the loud clicking noise often associated with gaming keyboards. This makes the keyboard suitable for both gaming marathons and quiet night sessions. Wireless Connectivity: The wireless functionality is flawless. You can choose between Bluetooth or a 2.4GHz wireless connection, and I’ve experienced no lag or disconnections during gameplay. Battery Life: Battery endurance is stellar. With extensive daily use, I find myself only needing to charge the keyboard infrequently, which is a significant improvement over other models I’ve used in the past. Extra Features: The inclusion of a Stealth key is ingenious, allowing for instant privacy and focus by hiding all apps and muting audio with a single press. The extended Ctrl key also proves to be extremely useful, enhancing comfort and functionality in games requiring extensive use of control commands. Final Thoughts: This keyboard exceeds expectations in every aspect, from its aesthetic design to its peerless performance. It's a perfect 5 out of 5 stars from me, for transforming my gaming and daily typing into a more delightful experience. Worth every penny! ... show more

  • The software destroys the experience. The software destroys the experience.
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
Overall the scope 2 is a pretty good keyboard. It has the robust build quality that you would expect from Asus and it has the versatility of being able to be used plugged in or wirelessly. It's heavy and it feels pretty sturdy. Where it fails is the software. It does need software to change various settings and the issue with that is that the software fails often. If I use it, it will normally hang then crash. Yes the keyboard can function without it but if you ever plan on changing any settings you can and will need to interact with the software at some point. At the time of writing this the software is in a bad state. Do I recommend the keyboard? Yes. Is the software crippling it? Also yes. I managed to get it on sale. I don't recommend picking it up for more than 135.00 until they can remedy its issues. When your keyboard is that software dependant you can't afford to make mistakes. ... show more

  • Review of the ROG Strix Scope 96 – 6 Months In Review of the ROG Strix Scope 96 – 6 Months In
Style: Strix Scope II 96 (Mechanical) Color: Black Size: Snow Linear
What I Love: I’ve been using the ROG Strix Scope II 96 Full Size since October/November 2024, and after six months, I can confidently say this keyboard is top tier in terms of build quality. Every keystroke feels super satisfying—the clickiness is just right, and I can actually feel the difference in pressure when gaming, which is a huge plus. It’s also my daily driver for work. The ability to seamlessly switch between Bluetooth and wired mode with the small toggle switch in the back is super convenient. Battery life? No complaints—easily lasts a full 8-hour workday without breaking a sweat. What I Dislike: If you’ve used any ASUS gear before, you already know the struggle that is Armoury Crate. It's honestly a bit of a nightmare. That said, I do appreciate that for this keyboard, ASUS offers just the AC module directly from their site—way better than having to deal with the full software suite. Overall Opinion: Despite the software headache, this keyboard delivers where it really matters. Solid build, amazing typing and gaming feel, great battery—would definitely recommend! ... show more
