  • Lovely gaming laptop
Style: 9th Gen Intel i7 Capacity: RTX 2060 | 1T SSD | 240Hz
I've been a console gamer for my whole life, so this was my first foray into having a gaming PC. I have not been disappointed. I bought this laptop primarily to play ffxiv on max settings (and to make macros which are tedious on the PS4) and it plays ffxiv beautifully. I have everything on max settings when it's plugged in and this game just looks GORGEOUS on the screen. Really beautiful. Very little lag - if ever. The fans get pretty loud and when everything is plugged on and at max I can tell that it it's getting hot, but I've definitely had hotter and less powerful computers. I bought an additional cooling fan lap stand and it's helpful I think. I haven't had any system problems. My only complaint is that I have trouble getting my custom aura sync preferences to load every time. It's hit or miss. Otherwise though, really great computer. If you're just browsing the internet unplugged, the fans really are "silent". And also, for a game like Sims 4 at max settings, the fans barely even need to work. UPDATE I've had this laptop for almost a year now and I still think it's an incredible machine! I'm still playing every game at max settings, it's gorgeous. Some firmware update fixed the aura sync issue I was having previously. I really haven't had any other issues with it. When you're playing games like an MMO at max settings and 240 fps it gets hot and loud, but it still runs well and lightning fast. Also since shelter in place happened, I've been using it as a work computer and woooow. It's absurd how nice this is for basic work. It takes about 10 seconds I'd say from turning it on to being on the internet. I still recommend it. It's a really fantastic machine, especially if you live in a small apartment like me and don't have room for a traditional desktop rig (or you don't have the technical skills to build one for yourself)! ... show more

  • It works with VR using an adapter.
Style: 9th Gen Intel i7 Capacity: RTX 2060 | 1T SSD | 240Hz
I bought this laptop for multiple uses but one of my concerns was whether or not it would work for VR. It does say "VR Ready" but at first glance it doesn't appear to have the appropriate DisplayPort connection to connect a VR device. In the ads for the laptop it says "USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4 Technology" so basically I found out that I needed a cheap USB-C to DisplayPort adaptor to plug my Rift S into. It works flawlessly using the adaptor with Oculus and SteamVR. I have ran a few games and simulators on it and it does very well. It also runs video editing and CAD programs without any issues. Best laptop I have ever owned and outperforms my desktop too! It feels very sturdy, keyboard is great, lighting is cool and customizable (you can turn it off too). Sound is also fantastic. The fans can get fairly loud in turbo mode but it isn't that bad. My one complaint is that it dropped in price by $100 4 days after I bought it..... ... show more

  • LED Malfunction/Untrustworthy Seller
Style: 64 GB DDR5 RAM | 2 TB SSD Capacity: RTX 4060
Got the laptop and had to send it back due to the LED lights on the bottom right side flashing/strobing. All the other LEDs were fluid and working great other than the bottom right one. Tried to fix it in the settings and couldn't, returned for a refund, it was the only option. The seller is working with me to try and get a replacement. Will update once the issue is resolved. Seller advised they would honor the discount for repurchase waiting to rebuy the item. Update: Seller didn't honor their word on getting me another one at the discounted price. They lied and tried to say they didn't have another laptop when they do and the listing is still active. Untrustworthy seller, I have never had this issue with a seller before. ... show more

  • Gets the job done
Style: 9th Gen Intel i7 Capacity: RTX 2060 | 1T SSD | 240Hz
The primary reason I chose to buy this laptop is for the portability. As a student in college (in a particularly small dorm) constantly moving between my school and my home, which are on opposite sides of the country, I found having a desktop would be majorly inconvenient and a general pain to travel with. I used to have a desktop but it got broken in shipping, so I decided I needed something more portable. This is where the laptop comes in. It is pretty big compared to most laptops but it is still easy to fit in any travel bag and can be brought on planes. The portability is excellent and allows me to move my setup on the go. (Note that I purchased the option with the 2060 and 1tb ssd.) There are a few things the laptop does very well. For one, the SSD is buttery smooth. The computer literally takes less than 5 seconds to start up and lets you start doing stuff immediately. (Not to mention you can fit a decent amount of games with the 1tb.) Another upside is the display. The 240hz display is incredibly smooth and satisfying to use for both basic functions and gaming. Additionally, the i7 is perfectly fine for the laptop and gets the job done well. Now for the downsides. For the price, the gaming performance is...okay. I've found that a lot of graphics intensive games run at less than 60 fps unless you tone down the in-game graphics settings a bit. This could be a result of the 2060's lower benchmarks, but my guess is it is related to the internals overheating as the cooling on a laptop is severely limited compared to desktops. The fan is pretty much full blast the whole time you're gaming and the laptop is constantly very hot. (Forewarning, don't put it on your lap while gaming, it will burn you!) Another issue I found to haunt me is the power supply (charger cord.) My suggestion would be to put the power supply in a cool, open area because it gets VERY hot. If it gets too hot, it will eventually stop working for a little while until it cools back down. When the laptop isn't plugged in, gaming performance drops dramatically, so it's best to avoid this scenario! Of course, this is all to be expected from a gaming laptop, they will always be inferior to desktop builds. If portability isn't an issue for you, I would HIGHLY suggest building a pc. You can get better specs for much less money. If you're like me and you need a laptop because you're constantly traveling, this will get the job done! ... show more
