  • Best earbuds I've ever owned Best earbuds I've ever owned
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
I've had these for about a month now, so I wanted to share my experience with these so far. PROS: +Audio Quality: Surprisingly, despite not needing to be plugged INTO your ears the audio quality is still great. It's loud and clear, while not preventing you from hearing the outside world. I'm not an audiophile so I can't tell you how good the bass is or the like, but I found the audio quality to be good for calls, games, videos, and music. +Battery Life: I'm not a heavy user, and I don't use them everyday, but so far I've found the battery life to be pretty good. I've had it for about a month now, and the case is only down to 49% and I had not recharged them since the day I got them. And I can wear the buds for a few hours with barely draining the battery. So, based on my limited, non-professional testing, I'd say the battery life is as advertised. +Comfort: I haven't felt any discomfort from wearing these for multiple hours, thanks to not having to be plugged into your ears. This is on top of the fact that I wear glasses, so I did not find the ear loops to be uncomfortable. The buds are pretty lightweight. +2.4 GHz USB-C Adapter: I had previously considered ASUS's previous buds, the ROG Cetra SpeedNova, but passed on them due to no space in the case to hold the adapter. That is not the case here. Additionally, the USB-C plug on it is long enough to make it case-friendly for phones. For comparison, I had previously gotten another brand of 2.4GHz earbuds (OniKuma), but could not be used with a case on my phone. The charging pass-through is also useful. More importantly, the 2.4GHz connection has nearly no latency (as far as I can tell) which is a MUST for gaming. Without it, the Bluetooth connection is still fine for calls/music/videos. +Customizable: Through the Gear Link app (Android/iOS) or website (Chromium-based browsers on Windows/Linux/macOS), you can adjust the audio profiles and equalizer, change the RGB lighting, adjust the idle and power saving, customize the button gesture controls, enable/disable voice prompts, and even update the firmware (as of writing, there are no updates yet). +Hybrid Multipoint: The earbuds can connect to two devices at once (either the 2.4GHz adapter plus a Bluetooth connection, or two Bluetooth connections), and can remember up to 4 Bluetooth connections. CONS: -Price: No getting around this, $230 USD is a lot to ask for when it comes to earbuds. In my case, these were exactly what I was looking for (open ear with 2.4 GHz wireless), and not much competition (currently) in that particular niche. They suited my needs,, and (so far) seem to be pretty high quality. Whether or not they're "worth" it to you, is entirely up to you. -Instructions: No where in the included instructions did it mention you needed to use Gear Link to customize the settings on these. I thought they would've used ASUS's older ARMOURY CRATE app, but it wouldn't even appear reliably in that. Only after struggling with ARMOURY CRATE a bit did I learn that ASUS had a new app for managing connected devices. -Buttons: While not terrible, having physical, non-touch buttons on these seem to be a bit of a design flaw. By default, you have to press the buttons FOUR times to raise/lower the volume, which just seems silly. A touch sensor that could accept taps or sliding motions would've been better. Overall, I have a lot of good to say about these without much bad to say. Really, the buttons is my only true complaint with them that can't be fixed. If you're looking for new earbuds, and the price is reasonable to you (or when the eventually go on sale), I can wholeheartedly recommend the ROG Cetra Open. ... show more

  • Expensive but currently the only product in this niche.
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
So far I'm very happy with these. Great sound for a non-audiophile. Punchy bass, great highs & mids. Fast to connect and switch + good enough mic for Discord. Would still pair with a desk mic. Very comfortable with no pressure on ears. Very light especially compared with a wireless headset. You kinda forget they're there. Perfect for gaming. No delay, good battery life, fast charging. Software is pretty bad but you don't really need it. I turned off LEDs, set some levels, and then never used it again. If you're looking for a lightweight wireless headphone option for gaming this might work for you. ... show more

  • Rough Start, Excellent After Tuning Rough Start, Excellent After Tuning
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
They are expensive, I know. Around $179.99 would feel like a much better price. But for now, let’s talk about the ROG Cetra Open Wireless. At first, I honestly thought these were some of the worst earbuds I’ve tried. The sound felt off, and if you’re a bass lover, you’ll probably be disappointed out of the box. The bass is just average—nothing impressive compared to other well-known brands. But after some tweaking, everything changed. Once you dial them in properly, I can confidently say these are some of the best earbuds available right now. The sound quality becomes amazing, and they’re very comfortable for long gaming sessions. They fit my ears perfectly, to the point where I forget I’m even wearing them—I’ve even kept them on when going outside without noticing. Battery life is also great. I played Pragmata for about 4 hours straight, and they were still at 79%, which is impressive. Just make sure you update them to the latest firmware and download the utility and audio companion apps—those make a big difference. I’ll share some pictures of my settings if anyone’s interested. ... show more

  • The worst sounding earbuds I've ever used
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
TL;DR - The worst sounding earbuds I've ever used. Sound quality sucks. Too loud even at minimum volume. Nothing Ear Open and Cleer Arc 3 Gaming sound better. Do not waste your time with these Asus Earbuds. I daily drive the Nothing Ear Open BT earbuds for nearly everything, but I needed something low latency so I could use it with gaming. I thought these would be great for that, but I was very wrong. I'm not an audio engineer, but out of the box, the sound quality is terrible. The bass is too pronounced, and the audio almost sounds compressed. The best I can describe it is - put on the best pair of headphones you have, go watch a movie at 1080p or 1440p, then drop the video quality down to 360p or 240p. The audio coming from these earbuds sounds like a really, really compressed audio stream. Compressed and low quality. You can kinda recover it a little bit by messing with the EQ in Asus GearLink, but that web app is buggy, has issues where you need to reload the page and reset the buds just to get settings to stick, and nothing you do will solve the actual problem, which is that the speakers in these earbuds just flat out suck. To make sure all low latency earbuds wouldn't have the same issue, I bought Cleer Arc 3 Gaming as a test. And they're great! Sound quality is clear, full, no compression sounds, latency is good for gaming, and I can actually make them quiet if I want to. So go buy those instead. These Asus earbuds are trash. Please do not waste your time like I did. I'm writing this review and sending them back for a refund. ... show more

  • Great headphone great battery life!!! Great headphone great battery life!!!
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
Great headphone was hesitant to buy them for a few days then I just bit the bullet, best decision I’ve made for headphones. New to open hear so was weird at first but you get used to it fast. Long battery life on headphone I normally listen to podcasts to sleep and I need headphones to not wake my partner I do knock the off my ear sometime but one headphone last me so far 9 hours single charge. I do workout and they are great for the gym too, they stay put in my ear and there loud enough to just focus on my sets. The phantom bass and the noise isolation is great too surprisingly bass’s and the noise isolation is a slight difference but I can notice it. I haven’t tried them for gaming yet because I have IEM’s but I’ll give them a shot but overall amazing headphones! They replaced my skullcandy and my AirPod never need another pair. ... show more

  • Easily the BEST Open earbuds on the market for zero latency gaming
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
Easily the BEST Open earbuds on the market for zero latency gaming. And THE BEST open earbuds period. Though they still have a few issues. They sound great. They can get very loud. (An issue with some other open earbuds) Rock solid connection. For some reason all other gaming earbuds have extreme connection issues. I would not recommend ANY of them for reliable gaming and discord. So these are the first to work as advertised. And so far after 16 hours over 2 days. Rock solid. Range is fine. It was better before the firmware update I did March 29th. I was all over my house with perfect audio 100 feet away though 4 walls. Now it make it about 30 feet with some flickering in the signal. But in the same room, or if the bathroom is close. Perfect. Audio. For those who are closer to the audiophile end of things. These are solid, while lacking in bass. As most all open back options do. But even then, they can hit some bass depending on the situation. Overall a more sibilant pair of cans. But it does the work to bring in the low end fine. The microphones are fine. Not the best audio quality. Roomy and reflective sound. But it's clear and it works for communication. I prefer this over the nasal and enclosed feeling of Samsung and Apple buds. Fit. Comfortable and light. Slightly more obvious on my ear than Bose or Arc open buds. But I would call these a 8.5/10 comfort if those are 10/10 And what good is comfort if you're laggy and have poor connectivity like Arc and Bose. The 2 biggest issues: Multiple connections. There is no way to control when it switches. At all. So if it switched to your phone mid game. There is no way to switch it back without turning off BT on your phone. This needs a fix ASAP! Multiple connections part 2. For this price point. It should be able to do BT and 2.5 simultaneously like Steelseries. No excuses. A$100 steel series can do it. This needs to. Hopefully they fix this in the next version. Software. You have to use a website interface to manage them AND it needs to install 2-3 different apps so the website works. What a STUPID idea. And 1/2 the settings do not hold. Give me an app or fix this website to actually work. These are THE BEST open back earbuds on the market. Period. They still need work in hardware and software. But there is nothing that comes close right now. Especially for gaming. ... show more

  • Potentially incredible ear buds with some glaring issues
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
I wanna rate these higher because they're incredible when they wanna work but that's only when they wanna work...I was gonna give em 3 stars but it feels like they're getting worse. Pros -fantastic sound quality for both gaming and discord use. -super comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. -decent enough battery life for what I'd use em for. -I actually rather like the case the they come in. Cons -the right ear bud constantly disconnects when connected through the dongle. Connecting through Bluetooth doesn't seem to have this issue but there's a noticable drop in sound quality when I do that. -mic quality according to friends is abyssmal. Which is likely due to the disconnecting issues. I really wanted these to work out because they seemed like the perfect substitute for a full size gaming headset on occasion but they're not usable in their current state. Not sure if more firmware updates could possibly fix it or if it's just an issue with the hardware itself but I'll likely be returning these unfortunately. ... show more

  • The GOOD and the BAD
Color: Black Size: Cetra Open WL (Open Ear)
The GOOD: In all honesty, I wasn't sure about these for the first couple days when I started using them. The way they fit on my ears kind of annoyed me to no end... After a couple days I got used to them and stopped noticing. The thing I had to get used to was not having a wire to stop me from moving. They're VERY easy to set up. Basically just plug and play. They sound great. The BAD: The battery life is not that great. On a full charge I'm able to use them for max 5 or hours at a time before having to charge them again. BUT they do charge rather fast. I think it took me about an hour or less to get them to a full charge. I probable spend more time on a computer than a regular person so don't take my word for it. The other bad thing is that there is NO SOFTWARE to download for these. Basically if you google this particular type of headset it takes you to the ASUS ROG website and you can fiddle with the sound in a web based program. Other than that, I highly recommend these. The sound is great and the fit is great. ... show more
