  • Meet expectations
Style: Dual Fans Size: RTX4070 Super
Jan 5 2025 update (about 1 week of use) The fan is quiet. I put the card intentionally under full load (99% utilization) running Topaz Photo AI Super Focus (beta), which lasted more than 26 minutes. I could not hear any fan noise; CPU load was low, so no CPU fan noise (AIO). I had to open the case, place my phone right under the card and record a long video in order to hear the faint noise. Power consumption was just over 200W; temperature never reached above 66C for the entire Super Focus operation. Original review This GPU is a replacement for an RTX 4060, which is not bad at all. Since photography is my main hobby and I also like to do editing. The recent capability additions in Photoshop and Lightroom as well as Topaz Photo AI rely heavily on the GPU, resulting in a need for a better GPU. Obviously, 4090 or 4080 would be great, they are just outside my willingness to part with my money. While 4070 Super is not cheap, it does represent a reasonable compromise between performance and cost. BTW, I must point out that I have never spent more than $300 on a GPU prior to this; so, this is still a considerable investment. Besides getting this GPU, I also need to upgrade to an 850W PSU. So, this complete package is not a small investment. Long story short, it meets all my expectations. Installation was straightforward. Many people reported difficulties with installing the power cable, I had absolutely no problem at all. I made a stupid mistake though. I have 3 monitors and expected to see all 3 monitors showed up; only 1 monitor came up. Very disturbed, even panic at this point. Then I realized I had not yet installed the driver, which I already downloaded. Everything worked after the new driver was installed. I left the Dual Bios switch at the "P" performance position, and it was not noisy at all. My CPU fan makes a lot more noise. No idea if performance would be worse at the "Q" position. In terms of performance, which is the main reason for getting this GPU, it really shines. LrC denoise took almost 30 seconds to denoise a 50 MB raw file using 4060; this 4070 Super only took 14 seconds on the same file. Topaz Photo AI completed most tasks almost instantly. I must also point out that the standalone Topaz Sharpen AI was CPU limited, but I stopped using it in favor of Photo AI. I have not encountered a reason not to like it, except perhaps the cost. If cost is not a major consideration, I highly recommend it. I am sure 4090 and 4080 are even better, I do suspect they are reaching limiting return status. ... show more

  • Great compact card
Style: Dual Fans Size: RTX4070 Super
Relatively quite operation and never experienced coil whine. Enables me to play most games at high settings on 144hz ultrawide. 12GB of memory is a must in 2026 for modern games. I like the smaller form factor to fit into my smaller case. No glitzy lights or anything, just a high performance card with low power draw compared to newer models. ... show more

Ran this thing for over a year and its still going strong. Runs games like a champ, both AAA and not, at 1440p and 100+ hz with no issues. Fans may spin up, but It never gets too hot provided you have a good case. Its small, but aesthetically I like it. You wont be disappointed if you get a good deal on it. ... show more

  • 4070 Super OC Right Tool For The Job 4070 Super OC Right Tool For The Job
Style: Dual Fans Size: RTX4070 Super
Just switched over from AMD to NVIDIA. I'm running LLMs for AI/Machine Learning, and the performance difference between an RDNA2 AMD card to one of the latest GPUs from Nvidia is jaw dropping. Sure, there's a huge price difference, but the results are orders of magnitude better. When I reinstalled Ollama to run the latest 70B Model, the script told me "Nvidia GPU detected". I didn't have to piece together drivers, install PyTorch or Tensor Flow. The software & hardware just work together like they're supposed to. The RTX 4070 Super OC produces fast accurate results. The speed power & efficiency mean the Model doesn't work as hard, so CPU/GPU don't overheat. One of the most important things to note is the 4070 Super is running off the system's original 600-Watt Power Supply. The card requires the user to connect two 8-pin PCI-E cables to the supplied 12 pin PCI-E adapter for the 4070. If you're building a PC/Server for AI/ML, consider this as a first choice, if you're upgrading your current build stepping up to a 4070 Super with 12GB of GDDR6X RAM is the way to go. I highly recommend this card over any AMD product because the 4070 Super is future proof at this point, the next gen GPUs aren't coming until year end, or 2025 & who knows at what cost. With the supply of GDDR6X RAM in question I wouldn't wait to buy a current high end Nvidia card as the replacement models will only have GDDR6*. This card is the best option for "Budget" to Mid-Level builds b/c of Cost, Efficiency, Power, Speed & Accuracy. AND it does all that without the need to upgrade your power supply! ... show more

  • Great performing video card for AI
Style: Dual Fans Size: RTX4070 Super
I am using this 4070 Super video card for making images on my PC using Stable Diffusion (through the Fooocus interface). It works great. Card runs quiet and cool with a 550 watt power supply. When using AI program, the AI program uses the CUDA cores in the card to perform its functions, and it's fast. Much faster than the 3060 I had before. In fact, all my AI programs which use CUDA cores are fast, like Topaz Labs Video AI, Photo AI, Gigapixel AI. A check of resources in use via Windows task manager shows that the card doesn't heat up too much. The two fans will sometimes speed up but unless you're paying attention, you don't really notice it. Installation and upgrading from my old video card was quick and easy. Installation of driver software was easy too. A check using online evaluation software showed this video card ranks with the best, topped only by 4080 and 4090 cards on benchmarks, as one would expect. And it does this on my 550 watt power supply, which is good because it meant I didn't have to change that out. So, if you're looking for a good, reliable video card that works with a lower wattage power supply (under 600 watts), look no further. As of mid-2024, this is the one. ... show more

It works, after some coercion. Initially the HDMI port on the card was not working, constantly flickering while under load. I fixed this by hitting the GPU near its I/O

  • One of my better upgrades. Awesome gaming, great AI performance.
Style: Dual Fans Size: RTX4070 Super
Great Video Card. Owned it now for about 6months. The nice thing about this card, compared to higher-level offerings (ie. 4070ti, 4080, 5080, etc) is it's power consumption is reasonable and is compatible with many more power supplies / motherboards. It's very quiet as well. Performance wise, for me, playing at 1080 or 1440, I can play any game on max/ultra settings without any compromises. This was such a noticeable upgrade from my previous (but still pretty good in 2025) 2070Super. I have not even adjusted any of the overclocking settings,.. really, no need too. Recently this card has served new functions. I've loaded and started enjoying several 'local' AI solutions via way of Myst and Ollama. Runs models up to about 14Gb (not a surprise with it's 12GB of VRAM) at very fast speeds (i.e. dozens or hundreds of tokens/sec). So I'm quite happy with that as well. Anyways, considered the mixed launch of the newer 50-series cards ; this may be the sweet spot and ultimate-end game for any non-4K gaming solution, and introductory / moderate local AI work. If you are gaming at 4K, or AI-ing with larger (i.e. 32GB+ models), you'll need a card (or cards) with more VRAM. Great card, great company! ... show more
