  • The laptop can produce 1440p at 144hz on external monitors for WoW Classic
Style: RTX 2060
When I was shopping for a gaming laptop there were several questions that I had that I had to dig deep on the internet to find the answers for. I have a particular use case for this machine. I wanted to have a powerful gaming laptop that can connect to an EXTERNAL gaming monitor for gameplay at 1440p and 144 frames per second. I also wanted it to be able to do G-SYNC on the external monitor. This laptop can do this easily for the games that I want to play (WoW Classic mostly) and I was getting 90 FPS in Fortnite when I tested there under high settings at 1440p. All you need is a USB-C to DisplayPort 1.2 cable and of course a suitable external monitor. This laptop will not do 1440p on the built in screen, as it is for 1080p max. By the way, I got the option with the RTX 2060 as to not break the bank, and I rarely every go below 144fps in WoW Classic with ultra settings on the external monitor. As for the features on the laptop itself: The RGB lighting on the keys is very nice. It is configurable to many different presets and makes the laptop look very modern. I haven't used the Keystone because I don't have much use for it. But essentially it is for having a "key" to an encrypted drive that you can create on your machine, and also to transfer the lighting options to another laptop. The battery life is untested as I keep this thing plugged in all the time, but what else can you really expect from a gaming laptop? All in all, very happy with my purchase! ... show more

  • A great laptop that has good specs, but a few things needs noting
Style: RTX 2060
2 year update - Man I am glad I bought this laptop before the start of the pandemic, It still works excatcly when I first opened up my asus laptop. The build quality is still good, not worn out, and the hardware still have no issues for me. But now this laptop has become as my backup, which I still use. because I bought a new laptop that had a 3070 series and more powerful cpu. I know cleaning monthly and caring will keep your laptop to last a long time. I have been courius to check the prices now and geez, 2,300 dollars for this asus laptop? that is too expensive and I do not! suggest buying this laptop for this price, I bought this asus laptop at 1,600 US dollars pre-pandemic. And my newer laptop I bought that is twice as powerful costed me nearly the same price which is 2,500 us dollars. -The Build quality: The laptop has a nice sturdy feel to it with a metallic feel. I like how it feels well made than the last HP laptop I had which was mostly plastic-e and felt like it was more fragile. The keys and mouse pad feels more responsive, but for the mouse pad I would rather use a mouse, still the response on the pad is great while the texture is good too. Also one neat thing is the amount of vents this laptop has, the underside, two vents on the back, in-front of the screen and one on its side. -Cooling: The laptop does get really hot when playing on a Intensive game yet it keeps a great job at cooling. The CPU reaches around 80C-90C while the GPU reaches at 60C-70C. I haven't experience any throttling in my games, but I did buy a cooling pad to help the laptop cool down. There is a vent opening on the under of the laptop, which is a great thing because my laptop would be able to cool the inside and not on the outside, which never works too cool down. With a cooling Pad, my CPU reaches at 70C-80C while my GPU reaches at 50C-60C, which is a -10C drop. -Backlights: The laptop back lights are pretty cool, and how easy it is to customize the lights like the underside, keys, boot-up lights and when its charging. The Armoury crate was a bit of a learning curve for me but it is easy to use once you have gotten used to it, including to change the back-lighting. -Gaming: As the product says, gaming laptop is literally a great gaming laptop if you are looking to get into gaming to play 2020 titles just to have fun, but if you're looking for Ultra Max settings running at 1000fps without turning into a rocket engine, and 58 fps is enough to trigger you below 60fps, then this laptop is not for you. Games that I tested where at High settings, while some settings where lowered that had the lowest visual difference with big FPS differences. Arma 3 in Altis at Kavala, 56 FPS. Red Dead Redemption 2 with Xbox One X settings set, 77 FPS. Modern Warfare at max, 80 FPS. Minecraft (No Shaders) 322 FPS. Minecraft (With Shaders) 50 FPS. Pretty much on average of all the games I play I get around 60fps. On VR it works really amazing with many games I tried, there may be some issues but usually tweaking can fix the problems. -Tweaking: What I always see in the reviews, those issues about dead pixels, graphics card not showing up on a laptop, stops working at any time could be many factors that resulted this problem or during shipment of the laptop, or maybe just unlucky to get a laptop that was built properly during the manufacturing process, which can happen to any laptop, desktop and other electronics. One issue I kept noticing from the reviews is a game not detecting the Nvidia Graphics card. That is always a common issue if you don't know how to fix it. The most simple way to fix is updating your Windows 10 and downloading GeForce game experience to get your updates for you graphics card. If everything is updated and the game is not detecting your graphics card, here's a easy fix to that. Go to your Nvidia Control Panel, go to Adjust image setting and preview, then look for the option that says "use the advanced 3d image settings" select it. Then go to Manage 3D settings, and you find the program settings tab, from the you can find your game and make sure preferred settings is on your "Nvidia high performance processor" and not your "Integrated graphics card" which is Intel. ... show more

  • Incredible for gaming, but terrible for anything productive
Style: RTX 2060
The specs on this computer are mind boggling. As a game computer it smokes most desktops. But don't buy it if you are trying to get a single computer that does everything. The keyboard doesn't go all the way to the sides, leaving the keys a little too small. Plus there is inexplicably a piece missing from the space bar. If you are used to anything close to a normal computer you will find yourself unable to type consistently. The numpad keys are even smaller, and the arrow keys are even smaller than that (like pinky nail size). The touchpad is also a fail. It is further away from the edge than most computers, and the buttons are flush with the case and half as wide as they should be. The result is you can only hit them with the tip of your thumb. (Not like you hit the space bar with the side.) None of this matters for games, I know. But my last RoG was great for both games and work. This one is a toy. An incredible toy. (Oh, and I think the ports are in stupid spots, like the power being in the back and the USB being too close to the front, but those are probably just me.) ... show more

Style: RTX 2060
This laptop has alot of thing to make most gamers happy, Its got a great 144Hz with a 3ms refresh rate, it's got a great GPU for a laptop, its fast, has great rgb, it plays games on ultra very well, out of everything the one thing that needs a little more is Hard drive space with most games being 40+ GB I see the 500GB filling up really quick. ... show more
