My son has been wanting this gaming headset for quite some time, but I didn't want to spend almost $250 on a pair. I decided to go ahead and get them for him for Christmas. I just happened to see these renewed ones and was shocked at how much of a savings they were. I figured I'd give them a shot, since I can always return them, if needed. These look and work just like new. I had to try them out when he was at school to see how they performed and WOW!! These are going to be a total game changer. He's going to be over the moon, because these are 100% a Twitch streamer's dream. They're definitely pro quality with all of the offered features. There's ASTRO Command Center software that comes with it that allows you to customize every input and output parameter, like mic level adjustments, and you can create your own EQ modes. The quality of the Dolby 7.1 surround sound is fabulous. It's got a precision boom microphone with optimized voice chat and flip-up mute functionality. These easily pair and the range on the bluetooth feature is crazy. I tested to see how far it would go and I can go on our 1st and 2nd floors without ever getting static. The design is phenomenal. I love that it's Mod Kit ready. The ability to swap out components is definitely pro level. I can see my son eventually wanting to switch out the headband and ear cushions, so it's nice that he's got that option. I'm in love with these headphones and my son will be too. Honestly, they feel like dirty gamer headphones except I was not happy with how they fit on me. I also did not like how the base connects to them. Sometimes it would connect and other times it would not, which would cause it to not receive a full charge. The earphones fit tight under my ears which seem to give me a headache after hours of use. I tested these headphones against two other headphones and ended up returning them. Since headphones are subjective, these did not work for me. The media could not be loaded. I would like zeros stars as my rating. I can't believe this would be sold to someone. Absolutely crazy to think about. Yes I do understand the product is refurbished. That was the intent of a cheaper product. But when it says REFURBISHED in EXCELLENT CONDITION. I think almost brand new right? Wrong. This is what was recieved. I didnt expect it to look like this. If this is EXCELLENT quality what does GOOD quality look like. As well as the wireless charging from the video isnt operational and the ear piece is practically falling off. (It eventually did) So loss of functionality doesnt even sound like a selleable product. As a prime member I had no problem with calling and handling the return process. While doing so my customer support member informed me that, "Due to price and it being an electronic device". "You (as in myself) would have to schedule a date to return it back to a UPS DRIVER at any given time throughout a day chosen." "So the correct return label could be processed on that date received." I said that isnt going to work considering I work the same days and times UPS does. Customer service rep then told me there is nothing else we can do for you at this time. So I was just told that the ABSOLUTELY ABYSMAL product that I've already paid for, has to be returned by me which I would have to miss work for. This is my first over-ear gaming headset. I've always used the smaller on-ear ones in the past. I've also typically bought much cheaper ones through other brands (logi-you know who). I've had these for about a month now and I feel I can give an honest review. First off, the whole Xbox/PC thing. Yes, you can hook them up to your PC OR you can hook them up to your XBox. You cannot have them connected to both at the same time. While there is a button to "switch" that button determines whether it's using the optical input from the xbox or not. I typically just move the base from one to the other with cables ready to go for both - but you cannot switch between them without disconnecting one and connecting the other. Second, what you read in the other reviews is absolutely true. Cons: * The sound quality is good, not great, but good * Switching Dolby on/off is noticeable, but won't blow you away * When watching movies/listening to music the headset will occasionally cut out - not a lot and not necessarily often, but it will do it - most of the time it'll come back after only a couple seconds but occasionally you have to turn the headset off then on again * When battery is low/dying it gives an SOS morse code series of beeps which is very annoying and was disconcerting until I looked it up * Sitting the headset into the charging base is like precision surgery, getting the contacts to touch so it actually starts charging isn't a simple matter * The microphone/auto mute requires the boom mic to be almost completely up, and there's no mute button or anything else * The buttons/controls on the headset aren't very clearly labeled/explained in the manual (from top to bottom: on-off switch, surround sound enable/disable, settings button - utilizes presets in the software you can download and install though you gotta configure it and figure it out yourself, volume control) * The right ear also has volume up/down pressure points which you're going to accidentally press as you adjust the headset or take it off, but it's not super annoying * Fairly big and bulky and not very light - but I didn't expect them to be Pros: * Well padded and fairly comfortable on the top of the head for the first hour of use (I typically have to adjust or move if I'm going to wear them longer than an hour at a time) * Comfortable on the ears (haven't had any issue with this part being uncomfortable) * Easy to set up and use, drivers all self-install and haven't had any issues with them (other than the intermittent sound cutting out mentioned above) * Doesn't block out sound (this could be a con if you want a more immersive experience) but I often have my kids/wife in the room and I can still hear when they're talking to me without having to take the headsets off * Good sound quality with surround sound on/off * Pre-set button is a plus, being able to install the software and change the settings for gaming/movies/etc. makes them much more versatile if you have the time and inclination to play with it * Durable - they aren't lightweight, but they're also not cheaply constructed - I've gone through a LOT of headsets and eventually they all fail, when these do I'll update the review, but they seem well constructed and hearty so we'll see how long they last Conclusion: I definitely wouldn't buy a pair of these brand new for full price. But "renewed" or discounted I think it's a decent bargain and you'll definitely get the value of what you pay for. ... show more
