  • They do not make them like they used to.
Style: Microphone
To me, this D104 has an awkward feeling in the hand, and the PTT would be better on the other side. The modulation adjustment is difficult to adjust without full attention and will move with use. The sound quality and cutting through the white noise is pretty good. However, my PEP is cut in half on the meter compared to my Road King and Astatic standard mics. Used with a mobile, you can talk normally with the windows up going down the highway. I first got into Citizens Band in the 1970s, and I can attest, the quality of a CB or microphone is not what it used to be. ... show more

  • Best price found.
Style: Microphone
Shipped very fast, each item was packed very good, packaging of the items was very clean and new looking. As with most things built this day and time the item workmanship is below older items in comparing. They still work good and hope to get 5 years out of the new ones.

  • PURCHASED 2, BOTH WERE JUNK ! STAY AWAY
Style: Microphone
Astatic only in name. It's a shame what happened to this company. Ordered 2 of them, first worked for about 2 mins, typical astatic audio, loud but on tinny side, then push to talk switch stopped working. Sprayed crc contact cleaner, worked for a second, than totally dead. The second one produced no audio. Brand new 9 volts were used, no broken wires. Been on cb for 3 & half decades, DO NOT BUY THIS MIC, ITS JUNK. The company is well aware of the ptt switch issue, they could care less. Then china gets blamed for making junk . Who do u think makes Stryker ? China made and damn good quality, u get what u pay for. . The Stryker owner pays more to the Chinese for a better product, and that is why they sell like hotcakes. Blame the company, as the builder in china offers them several choices, if they built a mic for say $50, it would be quite good, but it's all about profit, so they go with cheapest company ,, and cheapest product. Much smaller customer base now than 30 years ago, so less demand and that is why very few mics are even being produced currently... Same with radios. Majority of hobby cb users today are at least middle age and up to senior. This mic, if it actually worked , would Maybe last a year or so if your lucky, then in the garbage. Disposable society right ? Could not beleive it, not 1 but 2 of them . And also 1 mic had a different size screw in back and button gets stuck, I beleive they are just sending out returns. Someone else will buy the 2 I'm sending back now. I belong to about 15 cb and ham forums, I'll be sure to spread the word , this company should soon be input of business . If u buy it, u will send it back, they can send u another 1, but for what, same non working garbage. Like the m6b ? buy an older minuteman that is in good condition, and works, those last for years and no issues with talk switch. It's no wonder so many people prefer 30 year old equipment, go figure !.... U can purchase a better switch on ebay for another $15 or so and if u know how to swing a solder iron, u could fix switch issue , but then your up to $50 something and time spent swapping out switch, better off looking for another mic. They're banking on people that are oblivious to this mics issues, to purchase them. ... show more

  • Powerful, Clear and Punchy... One of the Best
Style: Microphone
This is the legendary power mic I've heard so much about for years. With the stellar reputation that precedes it, my expectations for this mic were very high. I am pleased to say that my expectations have been thoroughly met. Overall Quality: Excellent. From the plastic housing, metal grill, cord, push-to-talk button to the overall sound, I rate this mic a top rating. I am using this mic with a Galaxy DX 959 radio. The combination of the radio with this mic is a win-win. I am confident that this mic will improve the audio of any radio it is paired with, and I recommend this product to anyone seeking clear, crisp, punchy and powerful audio from their rig. The mic came to me in perfect working condition. The battery install was easy... simply remove the four screws on the back of the mic, remove the back cover and you will see where the 9 volt battery goes. There are no leads for the battery... it installs right onto the circuit board which has the battery attachments soldered right to it. Be sure to support the circuit board with your finger as you press the battery into place so that you don't accidentally damage the circuit board (this should be obvious). The mic volume adjustment knob is on the back side of the mic. In most situations, you will not need to turn this up very far. I have mine turned to 3. I have heard many others say that theirs are turned even less than this. Since each radio is different and each person wishes to have a different type of sound on the air, you will need to experiment a bit with this setting. I did notice that turning the knob all the way down resulted in no audio whatsoever. Turning the knob past 4 resulted in feedback through my talk-back feature. I am very pleased with this mic, and it is by far the best mic I've owned! ... show more

  • No screws to hold it together
Style: Microphone
This is a great microphone to have the same quality is second to none it is a very flexible cord so that means in the winter time you do not experience a stiff cord it looks to be fairly well constructed but the only issue that I have when I order this it came well packaged but the microphone has four small screws that hold the back together on the microphone my microphone came with no screws so now I am in search for four screws to hold my microphone together so I'm able to use it that was a very big disappointment to me other than that is a very good microphone for sound quality and durability ... show more

  • Excellent, if you get a good one!
Style: Microphone
I have been using these for years and they really are best power mic available, I just bought a new one and it has been working great but the new ones are made cheap so you must be careful with it, be gentle taking the screws in and out don’t over tighten and the ptt switch can be problematic. If you get a good one should last a long time. ... show more
