  • Working so far as a replacement board.
Gonna start this review off that this is a replacement board for a Asrock B365 that had the USB controller die on me and this board was my only option for replacement in a timely fashion at a reasonable price. I am a gamer first and foremost and my previous board was a business class board due to how I got the CPU. Immediate impressions upon replacement was that this board had worse memory compatibility as it did not want to cooperate with my mix-matched memory modules (2 12gb sets from SK Hynix and Kingston), after various attempts I did find a way to get it to boot off them which worked for a few weeks until it randomly decided to start hard crashing and not post again due to a memory issue starting yesterday which swapping out the Kingston memory did fix. Moving on from a little worse memory compatibility, the motherboard includes all the IO I could want, with plenty of SATA ports, M.2 wifi slot, 2 full speed M.2 NVME slots, etc. The board doesn't seem to be limited my I7-8700 at all, supports my RTX 3080 with speeds that seem correct, and also sports my sound card. One thing I will note about this was the old motherboard would create a small amount of static with my sound card whenever the 3080 was nearing full load, upon switching to this board that stopped happening for awhile but began happening again to less capacity recently, so I need to do further testing on this however it hasn't been as bad as before and isn't there most of the time (primarily noticeable when booting up FFXIV). As mentioned a moment ago as well, I can't comment on the onboard audio much since I opt to use a sound card, however the one thing I can mention is that there doesn't seem to be any software with it that other integrated Creative solutions usually include, tho it does look pretty cool on the motherboard. Speaking about looking cool, the RGB is subtle enough that I don't mind it either which is something I didn't think I would care about. I can't see inside my chasis since I use an old alienware case, but it matches my sound cards red LED so I'll give it a solid "nice". In conclusion, roughly 3 weeks in and the boards been doing solid. Gaming performance for my components seems to be fine, while obscure mix-match ram compatibility is worse than the business class board in my experience it's still fine, all ports seem to be working and the board looks cool while doing all of this. Power distribution also seems to be a bit better when compared to that of the business class board as well which is something to take note of if you intend to use a high power GPU and a sound card at the same time. I'm giving 5 stars based on first impression however if the board breaks (has a critical feature break) within a year like the last Asrock board than I will update this review to reflect that as they do not have a good warranty program for replacements. ... show more

  • PCIe x16 does not work
I purchased this as a board for my mining rig, specifically because of the number of PCIe ports and the fact that you could run the main port as x16. However, after downloading the latest BIOS and adjusting the lanes to the right gen, I could never get the main PCIe lane to be x16. Tech support was useless. ... show more

Easy to set up with my i7-8700 and is working flawlessly so far. Plenty of fan connectors. It came with the initial BIOS installed and wouldn't reboot properly until I upgraded that. One big minus is the lack of Creative Soundblaster Cinema 5 software on the supplied CD and at the ASRock web site (that takes away a star). It's touted as being supported, but there's apparently no way to get it. I also have the H270 incarnation of this board and Cinema 3 software was supplied with that. ... show more
