  • Expensive, but worth it
Used this in an open-case build (XTIA) and wanted something that was well engineered and looked good. The build went together great and this board is excellent. Some people complain that the BIOS is a little difficult to navigate, but everything is there including all the AMD knobs and dials. The included wi-fi antenna is actually very good as is the integrated wi-fi networking - I'm getting near hardline speeds out of it. The VRMs are under a heatsink, which is a little disappointing, but for an m-itx board it's to be expected, I guess. I added a row of stick-on mini heatsinks over the VRMs (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07217N5LS) and it dropped the temp by 2-3 degrees C, running under 80C now. The m.2 heatsink looks nice but is comically over-engineered, so I set the BIOS to spin that fan down to 0 when it's under 50C (which is, always). Plenty of I/O on this board and the BIOS fan control curves are very useful. I'm very happy with how this build turned out - small footprint and completely silent on my desktop with an under-volted Ryzen 5 7600X capped at 100W/77C TDP - and better performance than stock. ... show more

  • DOES NOT SUPPORT 9000 SERIES CHIPS
Even though this listing used to say it supports 9000 series processors, it does not! It also says the same on their website for this model mobo. According to Asrock support, you need a 7000 or 8000 series chip in order to upgrade the bios. So, you would need to purchase another chip in order to use the chip you have. Bought a Gigabyte X870i Aorus Pro. Worked right out of the box for my 9800x3D for the same price. Please see the other reviewers who state the same thing. ... show more

  • Awesome for small builds but...
Awesome for SFF builds but it is VERY picky when it comes to Ram. The rams that I got refused to boot up with both installed, boots only with 1 piece installed. Had to buy new ram according to QVL.

  • DO NOT BUY if using 9800x3d, unless...
It is possible i just didn't read, and i do know PPP said it might need a bios update; i didn't know that meant the board literally won't give a display out without you having another CPU, to install aforementioned bios update. I went through a VAST process of diagnosing why i couldn't get any display out, Purchased extra ram, purchased a motherboard replacement incase the first was just DOA, Took it to a PC repair place to no avail. SOMEHOW i eventually looked at this motherboard's reviews on amazon here, and saw other people also mentioning the bios and not getting a display. [Maybe it's "obvious" that it'd be the bios to some, this is the 6th PC i've built [not to sound cringe] and never had such an issue, so it was a new experience for me] Con 1 - So this is just a heads up, if you are using a 9800x3d, or maybe even "8000" cpus, and you don't have another CPU you can use, you might look at other motherboards or buying a "Ryzen 5 7600", which is what i purchased and worked for me to get a display and install the bios update. Con 2 - The CPU power connector is pretty far away, even in my small case. Con 3 - only like 3 motherboard fan connectors, however one is already in use for the M.2 Fan; so if you have a CPU cooler that has 3 connectors, for like VRM/ETC/ETC, only two of those are getting plugged in. ... show more

  • Perfect board except for one weird addition and glaring ommision.
One of the few B650E ITX boards that isnt priced outrageously. One of rhe few rhat has PCIE 5.0 x16 x1 and 5.0 x1 M.2 slots. performance and ran Expo profile for mem 6000mhz and PBO with -20 curve optimizer on a 7800x 3d no sweat. Which takes me into my one and only con. No bios flashback feature. This is must in my eyes because of how new the AM5 platform is. I plan on keeping the board but most likely will swap it for a board down the road with that plus the PCIE 5.0 features. Now to the weird addition. The m.2 heatsink has a horribly loud fan with a super aggressive fan curve out of the box. Bios setting resolves this but what is also odd is that they devoted a whole fan header to this one little fan. I plan on removing the fan in the future and run it passively but I dont have a 5.0 m.2 yet to worry about it. Good board, needs bios flashback to be a complete purchase. M. 2 implementation is a bit goofy. Overall solid. ... show more

  • BIOS update needed to POST on AM5 (9800X3D)
Took a gamble on the out-of-box Zen5 (9800X3D) support. Turned out it would not POST at all until first socketing an Zen4 (7600) chip to update the bios, despite ASRock (like all other mobo vendors) updating their product pages to indicate AM5 compatibility. Heads-up for anyone who is upgrading from AM4 platform to their first AM5. You will need a sacrificial Zen4 chip for the first BIOS update. In theory this should also be doable with a CH341A or similar chip flasher, but did not want to take that risk when this board has only 1 BIOS chip and no built-in flashback. Non-QVL ram (2x16gb PVX532G76C36K on any of the XMP profiles (7600-36, 7400-34, 7200-32)), the other gamble I took with this being my first move to AM5 platform), posts fine on AM5 after the bios update (11/20 beta bios for 9800X3D ... show more

  • Useless with newer AMD CPUs, avoid because of low quality otherwise
This board has a few problems that combine to turn it into a useless brick if you have a newer CPU (e.g. 9000 series) 1. Arrived with ancient BIOS that will not POST successfully with a newer CPU 2. No BIOS flashback. You can’t update the BIOS unless you install a supported (i.e. old) CPU. This is a standard feature, it’s ridiculous that ASRock chose not to include it. If you already own or plan to own an older AMD CPU, I’d still recommend away from this board. The machining tolerances are all over the places; overly tight memory sockets, crooked threads, etc. ... show more
