I unboxed this car and installed one of the two included batteries. The remote control requires batteries to be installed as well. I was blown away at how fast this thing is! It has instant torque when you pull the trigger. Pulling the trigger towards you makes it shoot forward. When you push the trigger away from you the car goes in to reverse. There are adjustments on the controller for torque/max speed as well as adjustments for steering. This is not your grandma's RC car! I have previously used cheaper remote control cars with slow speeds and poor range and handling. This is none of those things. Its fast and responsive. The steering is excellent. The range is great, have driven it a few hundred feet away down the street and back with no issues. Always wanted one of these when I was a kid and now I get to experience it. Size: 1:18 RC Car
Pros: - 4 wheel drive - Max speed can be dialed down on controller - Easy to get to internal components - Includes tools, two batteries, and two bodies Cons: - Have to take the body off to charge (though it's only 4 pins to pop out) I gave this to my son to abuse so I could get a good idea of how well it'll survive. So far the only thing he's managed to do to it is lose one of the pins that holds the body on so that's a good sign for it's quality. He previously had a different RC truck that pieces kept breaking inside so I had to take it apart many times to fix things. I appreciate that this truck has 4 pins that come out and I can get to all the internal components pretty easily. That's also how the battery is replaced. It even came with a couple tools and some spare pins to help with any required repairs (which thankfully have not yet been needed). It does pretty well flying through the grass at full speed. It's 4 wheel drive so it hasn't gotten stuck yet like his old 2 wheel drive truck did. I also really like that there's a speed control dial on the remote so the max speed could be dialed down while he was getting used to controlling it (and when he drives it around inside). The only things I didn't like are that the body has to be taken off to switch the battery and that there's an extra battery connector inside that can get mud in it. Taking the body off isn't that big of a deal, but it's annoying (mostly because when my son wanders in to get me to switch batteries, it's covered in mud and I barely want to touch it). The other is that the battery uses two connections. One connects to the car and the other is used when charging. I'm guessing that's to allow you to charge the battery while it's in the car without having to take the body off (which would negate my first complaint), but it also results in a stray connector which has gotten covered in mud on a couple occasions and I had to clean before I could charge it.     • Small truck but goes through just about anything, not a toy but can be.
This truck is my first experience with what I would consider a quality remote control car, something thats more than a toy. Ive had a lot of remote control cars in my life and most arent meant to leave the house and arent expected to have a long play life. This however I think is going to last. I had a lot of fun testing this unit. Strong enough to knock over a 5-year-old girl should you hit her accidentally. Despite some small scratches on her hands, she wanted to keep playing. I think that says a lot for any toy. Design and Build: Smaller than I thought it would be but everything is what you might expect in higher priced vehicles. Mine came with 2 chassis. An orange and blue. They can be swapped by removing 4 clips and sliding on and off posts. I ran this through my yard, rocks, snow, long grass, pine needles and ice and it kept going. Once finished I brought it in the house and hours later I found a small puddle of water underneath it from the snow that had melted. Truck still working, so I can confirm some water resistance. Performance: Awesome, as mentioned above. Im not intuitive with the steering controls yet so I accidentally took this to a lot of places I didnt mean to and it did great. There was no stopping it short of flipping over or getting hung up on something. What I liked: You can correct drift directly from the remote. Way easier than the old switch located on the underside of cheaper remote control cars. Top speed adjustment. I had it pegged when I was driving it but when I handed it over to my 5 yr old daughter I cut the top end with the turn of a dial. Super easy, very convenient. What I didnt like: 1. Getting to the battery and power. Truck has a power switch under the chassis as well as the connection for power. The instruction suggest disconnecting the battery when not in use, which is fine. Very typical for remote control cars. What I didnt like was the posts and pins. The post are very small, so the pins are very small and as such I kinda stab myself when removing the pins. Ive been pushing them out with a coin to prevent this. 2. Drift adjustment, not super accurate but it might just be me. Having the ability to adjust the drift via a knob is great but Ive found if I get it to appear straight then get on the gas, the truck will still drift heavily over a longer distance. I feel I need a very long straight away to calibrate it correctly. 3. Reverse. Not very responsive. I found that if I push the trigger forward, reverse doesnt respond as quickly as forward does. But, if I angle my finger just so that I move the very tip of the trigger, reverse does respond as fast. Its like the extra angle gets it to hit the sweet spot better. ... show more
