After washing and drying (on low heat and delicates cycle), the creases all come out from the vacuum packing. In my experience it didn't shed, and doesn't leave fibers all over you if you are wearing black pants. It is soft and fluffy, but if you are looking for something that feels like carpet this is not that. The backing is thin suede so it doesn't have a cushioning feel under foot.
