Not an overly sweet flavor system (chocolate). I have not tried the vanilla. I mix it 50/50 with Beverly International UMP which I find to be way too sweet. The combination is just about perfect for me. Use a blender, 10 ice cubes, 10oz cold water, add the protein (1 scoop Beverly UMP +1 scoop Ascent) and blend till smooth. Casein will thicken when blended cold so this makes a nice thick shake...add more water to thin out. I use the same ratio mixed in my morning coffee using a hand blender. Casein in a blender bottle is never going to result in a smooth mixture without clumps.

This is the best casein ever! I have tried other casein proteins in the past, but the taste and texture were not very good. I love the Ascent casein before bed to improved muscle recovery while I sleep. It mixes easy as a shake with a blender bottle, but I will also make pudding out of it or blend it into a milk shake consistency with ice and milk to make a delicious dessert. It is really filling, which helps me sleep and prevents late night snacking. I also take it sometimes as a snack for the same reason. Great product!

I wish my stomach could handle artificial sweeteners as I am pretty sensitive to them. This protein powder is amazing because it has zero effect on my stomach. Vanilla tastes okish, not strong flavor but you can add vanilla extract and a tablespoon of and sugar which makes it taste good in a smoothie.

First thing I’ll say is, do NOT make the pudding that they recommend on the bag! It’s thick and disgusting. I mix the scoop with 12oz of unsweetened vanilla almond milk and it’s perfect! Still not as good as the Ascent Whey (which is perfect), but much more tolerable. Since almond milk is lighter than regular milk I think it helps offset the thickness of the powder. I’m able to drink it fairly quickly now, and enjoy it. I plan on staying with the Ascent powders to book-end my day (Whey AM after workout Casein PM before bed).

I order the casein protein because I really enjoyed the regular protein powder but it was terrible. So grainy and didn't mix well at. I'm very confused by the positive reviews under this product because it was that bad.

I use Ascent whey protein, and the flavor is good. So, I ordered the Chocolate Peanut Butter. I found the idea of making a pudding a good idea... until I tasted it. The taste and texture nearly made me vomit. Since I've been using it for a couple weeks now (I drink it), it's more tolerable. It has to be cold, and I drink it fast. Once I'm done with the bag, I'll try the chocolate.
