  • Quality and Value Very Good
Easy enough for me to download the software and get it working well. Plugins appeared in Cakewalk after installing software, and standalone versions also were installed, but without shortcuts on the desktop, so had to search a little to find the standalone versions (Windows 11), but no biggie creating my own shortcuts after that. Midi Control Center was not so easy to find in the installer, because I expected to be front and center, not buried amongst the dozens of trial versions of their myriad softwares, however it's in alphabetical order, so no problem. Arturia's sounds are excellent, and easy to access. Their youtube tutorials are also very helpful. Accidental keys are a bit stiff to push on the part of the key that has the least leverage (adjacent to the panel with the printing and pads, etc.). A real keyboard player (not me) should have no problem. It fits in my pretty small mobile rig backpack with the computer, headphones and audio interface, which is the main reason I got this keyboard. Over all, I am very happy with it. Can't wait to configure it fully with Cakewalk to also be as a transport control. This is my first Arturia purchase, and probably not my last. Really excellent product. ... show more

  • Very nice
The customization and feel of this is so premium for the price. a fantastic device to get into music making that can stay in your bag of tricks long into your music career. its a little tricky at first figuring out how to get it to work but once you watch a few tutorials (and luckily there are a ton for this popular device) you will have it down to a science that you can recreate at your will. A must have and a great purchase. ... show more

  • NOT plug and play, but good
Originally ordered the Alesis Mini and when it arrived it felt super cheap and the keys were horrible so I returned it and got this and the quality of this keyboard feels much higher. I gave it 4 stars because it's advertised like you can just plug it in and start playing and that is not the case. Even for the basic function of the keyboard you have to register the product and install software etc, and if you want it to be anything more than just a keyboard you'll have to configure it (bottun mapping). If you don't know how to accomplish said button mapping then that proves my point lol. I didn't at first so I had to go through tutorials etc, but I kept it at 4 stars because it DOES allow you to really customize this controller. It's just not super user friendly out of the box. Overall I'm happy with my purchase ... show more

  • Great keys, awesome software
The unit itself has tremendous build quality and the keys & knobs have great tactile response. The pads are a bit stiff and spaced out, but work fine enough. I'd recommend it based on the quality of the controller itself, but what really makes it a great buy is the software that it comes with - despite being the 'lite' versions of Analog Lab and Ableton Live, they still have enough value that being included for free is a huge bonus. I'll never be able to afford the full versions of the individual Arturia synth emulators - which work both as VST plugins and as stand-alone software - but the Demo versions are a ton of fun to play around with. What's cool is that you can use them in Ableton and record & export tracks just as you would with the full versions, but the catch is that the plugins stop working after 20 minutes. Thankfully you can just restart Ableton and the timer resets, which you can do as often as you want. The time limits are a little annoying (as well as the inability to save custom presets) but it's still pretty awesome considering that you're using $200 plugins for free. Thankfully there are no watermarks or anything like that. ... show more

  • One of my favorite additions to my hobby studio. Also portable.
One of my favorite additions to my hobby studio. Also portable. I had a spare 20-inch laptop case, and I put this in the main pocket and my smaller laptop in the other pocket, and it worked great as an on-the-go compositional tool. It also came with some really awesome VSTs and Ableton live lite. Ableton does have a learning curve if you aren't used to it, but all the VSTs and this midi still worked well with LMMS. The VSTs obviously aren't compatible with Soundtrap, but the midi still worked well with the onboard VSTs in Soundtrap. The only other thing was that the pitch bend was not functional with this online DAW, but that matched my expectation with the limitations of the online DAW. ... show more

  • Stellar Controller
The controller itself is one of the best controllers in it's price range. The quality of material is phenomenal, the keys are responsive and with the many knobs and options, you can easily customize the sound making great sounding music with ease. Then you get the software included. Analog Lab was what I installed first, and I absolutely loved it. The sheer number of sounds available once you start off with all kinds of amazing sounds. Then there's Ableton Live Lite. It is a great piece of software that quickly allows you to get started on writing your own music. I personally struggled with setting it up on my computer, but the tutorials made the process so much easier. This is an absolute steal for your money for the quality and features you get right out of the box. Let alone what you can make with it. As far as the portability goes, it does a pretty good job with it, but I would definitely get a case, because while the keys are great and responsive, a feel that they could break easily if not given a lot of care. ... show more

  • Plugged into pc with 20 gyg ram, Linux Yoshimi
Short time same day ownership. I have not downloaded any software. On Linux PC AV Linux I am using Yoshimi. This was just a quick, non educated plug in to check things out. No manual reading. I do understand a lot of software (names I am familiar with) are downloadable. Absolutely great sound, love the interface. Had a visitor and just jammed a bit. No doubt I blew their mind a bit. The construction appears very solid. I have other midis, Korg analogs, pianos etc. But I am going to enjoy this. ... show more
