Size: CNC Vacuum Cleaner
I'm using this dust collector with a CNC table and it has really helped out compared to previous alternative - a big shopvac. The smaller size allows me to more easily position it and the primary/secondary setup lets me avoid rapidly clogging filters. I'm probably pushing the upper edge of this little guy's ability with my 4'x4' table and I had to make my own adapter for my router shoe but I'm happy with the end result and cutting is cutting so it is more how fast you're going that drives how fast you're making dust. Big or small it if the air flow works for your setup then you'll be ok. The price dropped recently and I think it is a pretty good deal at this point. The other option is either crappy (shopvac) or big, power intensive, and loud (dust collection systems).

This is a pretty cheaply made vacuum with dust separator bucket. The motor on the vacuum is pretty small yet fairly noisy. At the time I ordered this it was $299, which is way, way over-priced. Even though I received this for free, I have to pay taxes on the "value", and it's not worth what I paid in taxes for it. So, pretty low value. This seems like it has a lot of airflow, but the hose is so small that you can't get a lot of volume through it. It's the volume of air that moves the chips, not the speed. Build quality on this is OK. The hose from the vac to the separator has a metal liner to help reduce static, but the hose from the separator to the CNC is just plastic and there is quite a bit of static build-up. I had to wrap a wire around it and ground one end. I used this while milling aluminum and I would say it got maybe 2/3 of the chips. I have a slightly larger CNC with 80mm motor so I didn't use the included dust boot, but I used one that was very similar.

The media could not be loaded. This is an excellent high-pressure vacuum for a CNC. It captures the dust right at the CNC using the included dust boot. All the hoses for the vacuum, Cyclone, and adapters are included. They are very generous with the lengths, and it easily fits my setup. There is a quality steel can on the vacuum, not plastic. The cyclone is clear plastic, and it is interesting to see the dust vortex created by the cyclone itself. It does an impressive job. The cyclone part traps all the dust and doesn't let any leak over to the vacuum part. The vacuum can remains empty, and its dust filter remains clean and thus provides full vacuum. The cyclone has a spring-loaded clamp and is easy to empty. The dust boot has an easy-to-use magnetic base. It easily snaps off to allow quick bit changes, and it grabs and centers itself when reattaching; all the time it holds tight and secure. It can be adjusted up and down on the base of the spindle as needed. The brush does a superior job at providing a dust shield while the CNC is cutting. The dust boot does not extend down far enough when using longer bits. In my case several 1/4” bits are longer, and the brush doesn't reach down to the surface. A lot of dust is still picked up, but not as much as when the brush actually extends down to the surface when using shorter 1/8” bits. I mainly use 1/8” bits, so this is fine for my use. The dust boot does not have an LED as the written description says. The Wizmaker Artisan CNC does have an LED on a gooseneck arm that can be positioned to light up the cutting area even with the dust shield attached. It is an outstanding feature. The vacuum also works as a blower. My older vacuums don't offer this. I find it useful to blow dust off an area when I need to. Although I do not believe this is an adequate high-pressure blower to use for air assist when using a laser. The overall volume of this vacuum is about the same as my small shop vacuum. I measured it in the video. It is loud enough that I do wear hearing protection, but I also positioned this vacuum at ear level on my bench. Over time I will move it down to the floor level, and I expect it to be much quieter there. This vacuum does stay cooler than typical shop vacuums. It will work great for long-running CNC jobs. And it has enough dust capacity to work great for everything I do. This is a significant value for the high-quality build, fit of the dust boot, and excellent dust collection. I can highly recommend this vacuum kit.

This is definitely a luxury item but, in my opinion, well worth the investment. The two stages separate dust from heavier particles, which greatly reduces the strain on the filter. I was originally thinking of adapting this to my laser engraver. However, the power of this little beast led me in another direction: Using this to clean my work area has proven quite productive. If the adapter I have fits it, it will also create an extension wand that will prove greatly beneficial in other applications, as well (car, cordless mini saw, router, etc.). While a bit cumbersome for some of these tasks, the improvement in effectiveness makes it worth the effort. Extending the life of ANY filter is always beneficial, and I think I've just uncovered another gem, on vine. The less that makes it into the canister, the longer the filter lasts (of course). I've only seen a few granules make it into the canister, thus far. While I haven't used it extensively (only had it a few days), I have noted a couple of benefits that may not be completely obvious, at first. The primary dust stage goes through a clear canister (though dust will change this over time). This makes it easy to spot when an item may have gotten stuck in the tube. Added bonus: I tested this with my dewalt cordless wet/dry vac... BEAUTIFUL! Wet spills are easier to extract now, as well. With this staged between the cordless vac and the motor, there's a previous water trap in between. This means that there is less water reaching the actual motor unit, also. The only water that will even make it into the second stage will be the fine droplets that are not heavy enough to fall to the bottom and remain "airborn" in the cyclonic current. I have yet to find a downside to this little unit. Yes, it's a bit pricey, but "versatility" (a term I never thought I'd use with a vacuum) is never a bad thing to add to ANY tool.
