When sampling the pencils, I was impressed with the lead drawing qualities, along with getting such versatility as charcoals, the charcoal pencils along with the silky graphite pencil. AND, getting the two sharpeners (the metal is really good quality) plus two erasers, which my favorite is the gummy. All for a Very reasonal low price.     • Lovely set; bit messy if you want to keep in the packaging
The set has a nice assortment of tools and they seem well made. The packaging opens and closes and you could store everything in it... it's just the charcoal, being charcoal, is dusty/ messy and it's right in the middle of the set. But you might be able to wrap it in thin paper and not have it be quite so messy. I think this is a great gift for a child or a not too picky adult, the packaging would have to be a bit nicer to give to an adult art student as a birthday gift, imo. As just a starter set though - for yourself or your student - it's really great. ... show more

Love the quality of the pencils and of the charcoal in this set. The erasers are nice quality. That is normally my biggest complaint is poor quality erasers but this set is good. My one complaint would be the charcoal rolled around quite a bit in shipping, and the petals were dirty on the outside. I cleaned them off, but I believe it’s expected being soft charcoal is dusty. ... show more
