  • I got the T1 3W
For being literally the cheapest laser I saw available, this thing is awesome. Got mad my first 3 tries till I learned laserGRBL uses three digits for power scale, so 85% laser power should be 850, so when I typed 85 (8.5%) the laser wasn't doing anything, also, I thought it was set to mm/sec, but actually uses mm/min, so when I set that value to 80 ( half speed I thought, because the machines max speeds is actually about 16x mm/sec) but the speed I was actually targeting was 5000 mm/min. Once I had the settings right I successfully burned a picture of my daughter and a sea turtle onto the included wood section(this was after I charred in a prefect black rectangle the size of my thumb nail because I ran a super small size super slow). Since, I've burned my company logo to bamboo pen, names on little 1"x2" leather strips, etched a photo of my wife and daughter hugging my son on the day of his birth onto Kraft paper (came out great). This little machine is a great entry level unit. Packs away really nicely, works on many materials, although there is a lot diode laser won't do, this machine got me excited enough to do the research on limitations and capabilities. I have no regrets with this little unit, though now I know enough that I've upgraded to two galvo lasers (unlike this Gantry unit) because I need super fast business production and batching and ridgid consistency. I will probably never get rid of this unit unless I gift it out, I can take it anywhere with my laptop, in my laptop bag and burn a design on friends leather knife sheathe at his house, gotta love that. While it can do many of the same things as the xtool F1 lite, it will do it much slower due to the Gantry system and lower power laser diode. This unit will never engrave or mark bare Metals the way my (painfully more expensive) 60w MOPA fiber can, infact you should use a marking coating for any this laser to surface ETCH on metal. All-in-all, I would 100% recommend this to any friend who is genuinely interested in any budget range. For the price, if you hate it... You could probably resell it for nearly new price, just cuz it's already so cheap... Even if you get stuck with it and just throw it in the trash, being out $100 in the laser engraving world is a fraction of what I've spent on eye protection alone and cheaper that a single accessory on most higher tier machines. Don't buy this if: You think your going to run a business off of it; you want accessories like a rotary axis; want to cut through wood or plastic (it can, but is hot and slow compared to a more appropriate wattage, maybe get the 7w if you want to cut occasionally); need to engrave clear/blue acrylic, engrave glass or engrave metal; have basically any laser over 2 watts; hate plastic parts (it's portable but wouldn't fare well if dropped... Although avoid dropping any laser/CNC machine ever) For the record, I'm a master plumber running a business, pumping out promotional Goods and I'm a hardcore maker who designs custom schematics, pcbs, 3d files and operate now 2 galvo lasers, mini CNC machines and 2 3d printers as well as this Gantry laser, and heavy equipment (tractors) as well as program microcontrollers to integrate into custom circuits. My needs for the massive upgrade in machines stem from pressure to accomplish so much with minimum friction for 99.999% of people, you won't need to follow my path, this machine is probably great for 90% of people, and the other 10% will have a much easier time learning what they should aim for after getting a strong base expectation from another machine. Maybe your reason is you need a rigid frame that doesn't move, or accessories or raw power, or raw speed, but my 3w (3000mw) T1 has been a delight ... show more

  • This is definitely not something Anyone can just plug-in and operate
This isn’t just something you can plug-in and operate, you’ll need thousands of dollars worth of very specific equipment listed and then you’ll have to download special software on top of that. They don’t tell you the real cost upfront. Once I learned what else was needed to operate this, I just returned it. It’s not worth it unless you have thousands to invest into a business actually making money doing it. ... show more

  • Exceeded my expectations!
EDIT: im going to preemptively change my rating back to 5 stars because the artilume team has already reached out to me to ensure I got a replacement laser. Im thoroughly impressed with their customer service team so far and I am confident they will help me out. Ill upload more photos when im engraving things again! EDIT: im gonna have to lower my rating. I sure did have a lot of fun with this thing, but it died about a month after I got it. Everything still works but the laser no longer fires. I couldnt find much troubleshooting online and the replacement laser head costs as much as the machine itself. Im gonna lower ot only to 3 stars because hopefully mine was just a dud and others are having better luck. Shipped quickly, assembly and setup were easy. I watched a YouTube tutorial to learn the software because the paper instructions were lacking a little in that regard. The laser works exactly how I expected it to, it took a little practice to get the settings right, but ive been enjoying learning on this unit and it is encouraging me to someday get a more powerful fiber laser. ... show more

  • Difficult to use and has issues
I admit I am not so computer literate but did have my son help me set this up. I had issues with it not shouting off and finding the boarders of what I am about to engrave.

  • Okay
Very small and possibly convenient. If your starting out you will need to buy a exhaust fan and cover unless you are in an open area, you cannot use Chromebook laptops with this it's got to be windows or mac, you also have to get a honeycomb plate. They don't tell you this at all even on some of the YouTube videos. Also,be sure to have a fire extinguisher near by just incase ... show more
