This is a great set! I’m brand new to oil pastels, I had only briefly tested some sennelier at blick but besides that nothing. These are a nice balance of creamy and firm, in my opinion. They blend really nicely on paper with enough tooth. My first time using them went poorly because the paper I used didn’t have enough tooth. I did some more research and put one coat of Liquitex clear gesso over a couple of blank sheets in my Strathmore mixed media art journal. The grit from the gesso was exactly enough to give me the results I was hoping for. I didn’t want to buy sealing spray so just use a sheet of parchment paper between pages and haven’t had any problems. As for the set itself, I love the size and color variety! The pastels put down a nice thick layer which can be smoothed out or left textured. There are more greens than I personally know what to do with but I guess I’ll learn to do more landscapes or just use more greens. I love the range of cool colors. These are definitely worth the money and I can’t wait to try out different ways to use them. There is a safety warning on them to not inhale their dust. After using them a few times I haven’t noticed dust but I know that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I’ll consider wearing a mask when I use them but mostly I just work right near an open window and hope for the best. First off, im a proffesional artist. Had many one man exsibits and work in mixed media. These are lovely pastels, they dont crumble, they dont break, even on hard surfices. they blend wonderful and are soft and maliable. Colors are vibrant and gorgeous. Layering is superb. Artecho 72 colors Oil pastels are really easy to work with. Very pigmented and light fast. The colors are vibrant and easy blending and shading. They are 10 x 70 mm so they feel comparable to other brands. Generous size sticks I like the color choices with this set. I would call these a medium hardness as opposed to real or too soft and not too hard. I can smudge with my finger on watercolor paper. I really like using cotton swaps for smoothing or blending the pastel colors. ... show more

I really enjoy working with these pastels. I have created a lot of interesting pieces with these, and haven't run into too many issues. They blend very nicely, using my blending tools. There is some color pick-up when layering certain colors, and some colors seem better quality than others. But they are all very pigmented and very workable. I'm very new to oil pastels and these made it easy for me to dive into this medium. My initial purchase of this product I was hoping for beautiful pastels that blended with water. So it was a little disappointing when I received it and I realized I didn't read the label thoroughly. However, to those with a similar experience or who want to try these out and know how to use them. Here's how I made them work. After several experiments, I discovered the easiest way to blend them to my liking is with a q-tip. It creates the softest blend and it almost looks even better than the water-solubles. Honestly such good pastels. Im really glad I got them even if it wasnt exactly what I was looking for. If you really put in the effort to work with it, you'll be impressed with how high quality it is. Overall,10/10. I would buy again! ... show more

I've been using these for a few weeks now. I bought these as a budget-friendly set to familiarize myself more with this medium. I think these are a great set to learn how to use oil pastels as they're very smooth, vibrant, and you can get a lot more layering out of them than I expected.
