I bought these shoes for a dual purpose. I need a good sturdy boot to work around my horse farm. I also needed a strong shoe that is fit to ride in, so when chores are done, I can just jump on one of my horses without going into the house to change. In addition, I'm taking a sightseeing trip this summer and will be on my feet at least 12 hours a day. These boots completely fit the bill. They are attractive enough that they look great with jeans or khakis. They look especially cute with white socks and walking shorts. They are not too clunky, they look like brown sneakers/shoes. They were so comfy from the moment I put them on, that no breaking in period was required. I stomped through the mud and water and my socks stayed nice and dry. I worked outside for a good 12 hours, the first time I put them on, and when I got in the house, I felt good, my back, knees and feet felt just fine, all of which I have trouble with. They are true to size. I will replace them with another pair when they wear out. Money well spent. I recommend them highly. I'll buy another pair if I find them in black. I also work in an office full time and I wore them to work with khakis and they looked fine.

I think I have 15 pr of Ariat, the reason for that is because they fit me well and don’t wear out too quickly. These are waterproof and comfortable. Perfect for riding my horse.

I bought these boots two months ago and still love them. They’re super comfortable and the waterproofing is legit. They don’t feel super bulky while I’m riding either. I get a lot of compliments on them too!

Super shoe! I am the queen of blisters, after 3-4 hour hikes I go home with tons of blisters, some bleeding with skin rubbed off and some with trapped blood underneath, calluses with blood trapped underneath, black toes (long middle toes and big toes with tendency for ingrown nails), and I have flat feet. Sorry for the TMI back there but if you hike for long hours you will know what I am talking about. I hike in the Badlands trails in North Dakota and I don't know how they compare to trails elsewhere, but I can tell you that these trails are not easy and mild according to their description. I got a small scratch on the shoe after the first wear because I hit a sharp rock as I was climbing up. These shoes did not need breaking in, I received them 2 days before I went on a 6 hour hike, I wore them around the house for a few minutes to make sure I got the right size. They are wide enough that my toes do not get squished even after I finished the hike, the front is hard where my toes do not feel the bumps I encounter, going downhill my middle toes got a few bumps but no black nails afterwards (this is also makes me wonder if next time I should get another half size up). The lace are comfortable to tie and don't untie constantly while you walk, traction is good, I felt I was gripping the ground with my feet which gave me much freedom climbing up and down. Arch support is great and I only started trying insoles with arch support a week before I got these shoes but they were very comfortable. They are not heavy. I felt like I was wearing shoes with heels when I walked at the beginning since the sole is thick, and boy was I grateful for that thickness, the trail I did was full of rocks and hard grass and I was in full control. The edges are not raised much so if you are into ankle support you may not like these, but they were comfortable for me and were high enough but low enough for freedom of movement. The color is the typical brown. I usually wear 2 pairs of socks and put tape on all the areas where I tend to get blisters on. After the 6 hour hike I was still able to walk like a normal person, 3 blisters only but not major bloody ones. I would buy these shoes again but may go another half size up out of curiosity of how they would fit.

I've been wearing this model of Ariat for decades for endurance, around the pasture and barn, ring riding, etc. They aren't fancy pretty looking like some riding boots. They are waterproof without being stifling SO COMFORTABLE and designed for riding with a heel and sturdy shanked sole (more important than you realize for your weight on the stirrup).

This is the 2nd pair of these boots I've bought. The first pair lasted 7-8 years. They were very comfortable. And waterproof. But this 2nd pair is already tearing apart.

Purchased these to wear as I hike in Glacier National Park. I was a little skeptical on the comfort level as they seamed a little bulky. They are GREAT!! I was pleasantly surprised… I could wear them all day and have no issues with comfort at the end of the day, they support my ankle which was a plus and they are waterproof so I am able to hike through streams a small creeks My husband and I live and travel in our motorhome full time and are retirement age so I needed a hiking boat to fit my needs as my age was a concern of fit and weight. I am sure that anyone purchasing these will be as happy as I am. Being retired I am interested in price and value. Looking to buy one time and not buying and rebuying items due to subpar quality, construction and does not fit well … I have found that these fit all my needs with no concerns of the lack of performance on the hiking trails!! Watch me hike!!
