We have a lot of boots. A few times a year, we apply the mink oil and give them all a good rub. It helps them stay looking great. It does darken the leather, but it will lighten back up. Like this product very much but I feel a good boot oil would do the exact same thing. Does leave a crusty white residue if you don’t wipe it all off and miss a spot.

This mink oil paste is an exceptional product for maintaining and breaking in leather goods. I’ve used it to break in my baseball gloves, and it’s made the stiff leather much more flexible and game-ready. I simply apply a thin coat to the glove, with a slightly heavier layer particularly focused on the pocket, and then work it in by pounding with a mallet. This process softens the leather, making it easier to mold and shape. I also use Ariat Mink Oil to condition my boots after cleaning them. Works great for western and work boots. It does a great job of restoring the leather’s suppleness, enhancing comfort, and providing protection from the elements like rain and snow. The mink oil acts as a natural conditioner, softening the leather and improving its longevity by preventing cracking and drying out.
