  • Comfortable and durable work boots
Size: 8.5 Color: Distressed Brown
I have ordered these several times in the past, and they have been great. I use them outdoors quite a bit, and under rough conditions as well. They are lightweight, offer good ankle and arch support, comfortable, and have good traction on slippery surfaces. Color and size are true to description. Would purchase again. ... show more

  • Almost the perfect boot
Size: 11 Wide Color: Distressed Brown
These are the boots I been searching for! Great for ranching, riding, hiking.... one shoe for all three. Tough soles to tromp around the ranch, I don't think any nails would get through. Comfy? Very! Myh 4EE foot feels just fine in these. Waterproof too so if you ride through a creek and they splash up you will be OK. Highly recommened! ... show more

  • Good boot for the price.
Size: 12 Color: Distressed Brown
I normally purchase Thorogood , Chippewa and other U.S. made boots for daily wear outside and while walking and hiking. Sadly, there is no such thing as a 90 dollar pair of American made boots. I have several hammer toes on each foot and need a wide toe box. I was looking for a combination walking-hiking-general wear boot that's lightweight and requires no break-in. I have been wearing these boots daily for 9 months and still like them. They were comfortable out of the box. I oiled them up well with pure Neatsfoot oil and right away took them on a 7 mile hike that had good ups and downs and several creek crossings. They performed well. As far as traction is concerned they are a compromise at best. Great care is needed on wet or loose slopes and rocks. On the other hand, the tread is designed to be fairly even to slip in and out of a saddle stirrup easily. Most boots suitable for hiking with heavy-lugged Vibram soles would be dangerous to wear while riding a horse. Additionally, I can come in from the pasture without having to take them off or do a stomping and scraping jig to avoid bringing a lot of the pasture into the house with me. The insoles could be better. They basically failed after 6 months and were not providing support. I went into a Red Wing store and put a pair of custom insoles in them that made them far better than when they were new. All in all these are a decent boot for the price. Very comfortable. In the summer I often wear Chaco sandals, but so far I've not felt compelled to get out of my boots in a hurry. I will more than likely order another pair this summer, since just the other day I spilled about a cup and half of turquoise paint on my left foot. The old pair I'll expect to last as beaters for quite a while longer... I put this review away for a few months and now I'll finish it. It's about two weeks to the day when I ordered these boots in July of '19. They have literally been worn all day, every day. Today I noticed they are failing at the toe guard. Separation is happening on the big toe side of each boot where the rubber toe guard meets the sole. They are now officially beaters and I'm about to order another pair. The only complaint I'd have about these boots - other than the fact they aren't made in the U.S. - is the insoles. They're crap. Virtually no support after about 4 months of daily wear and weekend hiking. I solved that issue by going into a Red Wing store and getting a pair of their insoles. Those insoles are still working great and will go into my new boots as soon as they get here. Here's how I look at it, 90 for the boots and 50 for the insoles is 140 dollars, divided by 365 works out to about 38 cents a day for trouble free, comfortable all purpose boots. ... show more

  • Poor quality
Size: 11 Wide Color: Brown Oiled Rowdy
The media could not be loaded. I have lived by Ariat boots. This would be my eighth pair, but for some reason, I haven’t even owned them for one full month and they were already splitting and cracking on both feet up at the toes. I do lawn maintenance so all I have been doing is walking through peoples yards. Nothing even crazy strenuous for these boots to have already been breaking. ... show more

  • Made for horse riding, great for motorcycling
Size: 8 Color: Cordovan
I been looking for high topped shoes to wear while motorcycle riding. I've actually bought and returned several pairs and couldn't seem to find a really good fit. I wear 8m or slightly wider. I also have a high arch, or instep, which prevents me from getting my foot into most slip-ons. I think I may be over reading or over analyzing the reviews, trying to guess if I should go up or down in size, with no luck. Most of the Ariat Terrain reviews said it was true to size, so I an 8m and they felt good the first time I put it on. My foot felt secure and my the ankles seem protected. Ariat's were designed for horse riders, but I find they are the best motorcycle shoes I've had in years. I've only had them a week, and have only ridden a few hundred miles wearing them, but they seem to add to my riding enjoyment. There is a waterproof version, but these aren't. However, I'm a fair weather rider anyway. I like the look, I like the feel, and they seem well made. I like the thin layer of extra protection on the toe and heal since I'm a bit clumsy and scrape up most of my shoe. Also, I like a defined heal, it helps my foot stay in place on the motorcycle pegs, and the shank in the middle of the sole make having you feet on foot pegs (rubber covered pipes) a lot more comfortable. They are very reasonable priced, I will recommend them to everyone interested in a high top shoe. I had a chance to wear the Ariat's while walking around a couple of days. Actually is was some walking and a lot standing in place. The wear very comfortable. The high arch footbed in many shoes hurt my feet. I'm fairly flat footed and it seems all my weight is concentrated in the arch. So, some people might feel there is a lack of support ... show more
