Style: P12 Silent

Features

  • OPTIMISED FOR STATIC PRESSURE: The fan guarantees extremely efficient cooling, even with increased air resistance, therefore, the P12 Silent is particularly suitable for use on heatsinks and radiators
  • HIGH QUALITY BEARING: Thanks to an alloy/lubricant combination developed in Germany, friction within the bearing is reduced and greater efficiency is achieved
  • VIRTUALLY SILENT MOTOR: At low fan speed, the motor is the main source of unwanted noise, a motor developed in Germany with an enhanced bearing reduces friction and noise
  • HIGH AIR RESISTANCE: Thus, the P12 Silent is especially effective when used on heatsinks and with higher air resistance, the motor of the fan was developed in Germany and is virtually silent

  • Impressive Silence!
Update: Since writing my initial review, I purchased 5 more Arctic fans, this time the 4pin PWM PST models. I have had two of those fans develop a tick in the motor and several others have a whirr noise around 1200rpm... all in the PST PWM models. The 3 pin Silent versions are just fine. The price has also doubled since my initial review. Between the price hike and some of these noise issues with the PWM models, I find them much harder to recommend. They are now at Be Quiet Pure Wings and Noctua Redux prices. Both of those are subjectivity better. I was able to review the Arctic P12 Silence version of this fan. It is a 3 pin, fixed rpm of 1050. As someone who has purchased many cooling products based on recommendations only to be disappointed, let me say silence is subjective. I would say my bar is higher than most. I do have quite a collection of Noctua products. While I believe they are the best in the quiet department, their price tag can be a barrier to many. When I saw these Arctic fans, their price, and their reviews, I was curious. What makes a fan quiet? Some people assume it's all about rpm (speed) and any fan can be quiet if you run it slow enough. This is completely false. Bearing noise and motor noise is among the biggest causes of noise. Take the Cooler Master Fan Pro, even at 400 rpm, the bearing noise is offensive. They actually sound better at higher speeds as the air noise masks the bearing buzz. Noctua's secret sauce is their SSO bearing, which is a tuned Fluid Dynamic Bearing. These are among the quietest and usually demands a premium price. This includes both Noctua and Be Quiet! I was surprised to see that Arctic was able to put a Fluid Dynamic Bearing in a fan that cost a third of the price. What's the verdict on the Arctic P12? They are among the quietest I've heard. There is no bearing or motor noise, none! The air noise is also minimal and pleasant. Only noticeable at 10 inches or less to my ears. Matching the rpm to my collection of Noctua fans, Arctic wins in that department. The Arctics also move a comparable amount of air, but I'd give the nod to Noctua. Where does Arctic skimp out? Noctua has a sleeved cable, the P12 does not. The cable is all black, but is not sleeved. This would be a no-no in a premium fan, but is easily forgiven in a fan this price. I would also say the density and weight of the plastic is slightly below Noctua and even Thermalright. It's not poor, it's not cheap looking like OEM fans, just a step down. Most people won't notice, once the fan is installed, you won't be touching it for years anyway. Overall, the solid black scheme is attractive and will fit in most builds. My conclusion is I won't be spending more money on Noctua anytime soon. Sorry Noctua. They are an amazing product and are superior. When Arctic costs so little, paying for that difference is hard to justify. Buy Arctic for sure. Thank you for reading to the end and please help me out by pressing that helpful button. ... show more

  • quiet
My old computer is very noisy with the case fan. I changed it with this one. Super quiet. perfect. Note it is 3 pin connector. my motherboard has 4 pin connection. I can still plug this in and it works.

  • dead SILENT at 1100 rpm
if you want a silent, high-pressure fan for your radiators, look no further. i have 4 of these in my case, and cannot hear them at all at 1100 rpm. literally all i hear is just the gentle humming of my water pump. at 1200 rpm there is a slight hum, but only if you stick your ear right on them, and the water pump is still much louder in comparison. they also move a surprising amount of air. They push air through the alphacool UT60 (the double-thick 360 rad) without issue. i hooked them all up to my mobo fan headers, and control all through bios. i set them at a fixed 1100 rpm and they stay there all day and do a rocking job of cooling. 5/5 best quiet fans you can buy. ... show more

  • Read this if you want to use it in a 2 wire application!
I bought two of these fans to replace the one crazy loud fan that cools the coils for my Dometic travel trailer refrigerator. I read that they had lower CFM of air flow and were extremely quiet. I also read that they were 3 wire...my trailer fan is two wire (one positive and one negative). In the past when converting 3 to 2 wire I would simple apply power and ground to various combinations until the fan would spin in the correct direction. Not with these fans. They are EXTREMELY sensitive to what wire gets power and ground. And all three wires are very thin and black with only one having a light gray stripe. My first try with one fan and it never moved no matter what combination I tried. I assumed it was defective. So I tried the second fan and it was really quiet but with very little air flow. I tried another connection combination and I heard a tick. That was the end of that fan! So...moral to the story...I damaged both of these fans and there's no way to fix them. I took one apart and there's a tiny circuit board I must have burned up. If you have the exact 3 wire connector I think these might be awesome. If not...and trying to do what I did...DO NOT BUY THESE! And...I didn't even try to return them. It wasn't their fault... ... show more

  • This is a QUIET fan!!!
The basics: I got a new tower a few months ago. It's a bit high end and is water cooled and came with a noisy fan. Not wanting to make a warranty call for a loud fan, I ordered this one. IT IS SOOO QUIET!!!! My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. Since installing the Artic fan I have had to look at the tower and check the screens to be sure it came on. Why my computer manufacturer couldn't add a great fan like this to start with (considering the price of the tower) is beyond me. If you're wondering too, monitoring the CPU temp under load, no problem. I can't "hear" how hard the fan is working but it's quietly doing its job. So, got a noisy fan? Buy this = problem solved! Very highly recommended!!!!!!!!!!! ... show more

Did your case fan die and you need a quick replacement? This will do the trick.

  • Super quiet fan
This is an excellent super quiet fan. I mounted it with silicone mounts and it is not noticeable at medium speeds. Keep in mind the rpm is low , so its moving less air. Comparing this with an 1800 rpm fan of the same size is not an apples to apples comparison. But for the price it is a great fan. Use more of them if you need to move more air. ... show more
