  • This Rope is the Real Deal
Size: 1/2 x 100ft Style: White
I've handled a fair bit of rope in my time, for all sorts of jobs, and this arborist rope is solid. Right out of the package, I could tell it was some serious stuff. It's got a good weight to it, feels substantial in your hands, not like some of that flimsy cord you see around. The 1/2-inch thickness is just what I was looking for – strong enough for some heavy pulling and secure enough that I don't have to worry about it. What I like best is the feel of the weave. Those 48 strands make for a rope that's tough but still has a bit of give, making it easier to knot and handle than some of those super stiff ropes. I've used it for a couple of different things around the property already, mainly some heavy lifting for a construction project and securing some gear in the truck bed during a bumpy ride. It hasn't frayed or shown any signs of wear, which is exactly what you want. Now, why the five stars? Simple. It does exactly what it's supposed to do, and it does it well. It feels dependable. When I'm using a rope for anything that requires strength and safety, I want to be confident in it, and this rope gives me that confidence. I haven't found anything to complain about with it. It's just a good, heavy-duty rope that I expect will last me a long while. For the kind of work I do, and even for something like setting up a sturdy tree swing for the grandkids down the line, this is the kind of rope you want to have on hand. It’s strong, it’s built well, and it hasn’t let me down. That’s five stars in my book. ... show more

  • A well-made rope
Size: 1/2 x 100ft Style: White
I have a lot of large oak trees on my property, and between windstorms and natural aging, there’s always something that needs to be pruned, cleaned up, or removed before it becomes a hazard. I’ve been using this 1/2 inch climbing rope along with a grappling hook as a safety line when I’m up in the trees. It’s a 48-strand polyester rope, which I prefer over nylon because it doesn’t stretch as much. That lower stretch makes it feel more secure when I’m ascending or positioning myself—less bounce and sway, which helps when I’m handling tools or shifting around a limb. The outer sheath is tight and seems resistant to abrasion, which I’ve tested plenty against rough bark and the occasional slip around a branch stub. It hasn’t frayed, glazed, or stiffened up, even after getting wet and drying out a few times. I use it to haul tools and branches as well, and it holds knots well without being too rigid to tie off quickly. It does take a little time to coil neatly after use, but I’d rather deal with that than a rope that kinks or tangles. For the kind of work I’m doing—climbing, rigging, and trying to stay upright in a tree that’s swaying in the breeze—it’s been reliable. ... show more

  • Very strong and durable
Size: 1/2 x 100ft Style: White
This rope is very strong and durable. Used it to pull down a 30 ft tree that we were cutting down. It worked well and had not issues with it. The rope worked to guide the tree down to where we wanted it to fall.

  • Taking down a tree!
Size: 1/2 x 100ft Style: White
This seems like the perfect rope for me to take down a tree on my property. It doesn't have any stretch, and is super strong. It's on the stiff side, which should work fine. It's a good value compared to local options where I live. After the tree, I'll use it around the yard, it seems very versatile. My plan is to use it as a safety rope when I redo the roof, as well as other projects. ... show more

  • Excellent rope at a great price
Size: 1/2 x 100ft Style: White
As a DIY'er living among 2 acres of trees that constantly need maintenance or taken down this rope is a must have. It is very strong, yet flexible and easily can be wound up. I have used it to assist me in climbing and to help in falling trees. I have pretty much abused this rope and it is holding up just fine. It is a little on the heavy side for throwing or tossing up into the tree so it needs to be countered with a nice size weight tied to it. I also like how thick the rope is, makes it really a pleasure to handle. Overall this is an excellent buy for some high quality rope. ... show more

  • Average utility line, but use at your own risk
Size: 1/2 x 100ft Style: White
This half-inch rope looks and feels like a typical static line, if perhaps a bit stiffer than others. With no ratings, no labeling, no description of its materials, and no certifications, I'm not going to use this anyplace that my life will 100% depend on it. It will be fine for household tasks and perhaps some low-angle protection. ... show more
