I bought this awning and attached it to the side of my enclosed cargo trailer. I use this trailer instead of a tent when vending at markets and festivals. It provides shelter for me and my workbench as well as a table to hold my silver. I don't work year around, but more three seasons. Most venues require a white 10 x 10 tent, but my arms just can't deal with setting those up, then hauling tools and tables across the lawn to the booth site. I now work from beside my trailer under my awning, or I find other venues. I rely upon this awning as a part of my business. Working 3 seasons means I see wind, rain, and a lot of sun. This awning is a little flimsy, but for the most part well made. If it were heavier made, it might be hard to handle. I'm pretty satisfied it strikes a reasonable balance between weight, sturdiness, and price. The most recent reviews I see now (May, 23) sound like there may be quality issues, but I can't say I've experienced it with mine. I bought mine in Dec 2021. Set up is a bit of a pain for me, but reaching up is hard for me and this thing has to be high to do what it's supposed to. Watch out for things swinging around and getting bent. Once you get the hang of it, set up is mostly manageable, but I did bend a pin hole the first time I set mine up. Carry a couple of sand bags. Mine came with tent stakes and ropes, but those are rarely an option for me. Without sandbags to hold down the two outward corners the wind will tear it to pieces. You'll need a tall pole for the middle if you use this in rain. You can drop the legs down to their shortest positions and shed plenty of water when stowed for the evening, but you'll need to prop up the middle if you need to keep it extended. I write now because I'm starting to have a failure. Given I deploy this awning once or twice a week 9 months out of the year, I'm not really surprised. The failure is on attaching the sides of the awning to the bars that swing out do the sides. The fabric of the awning is attached to the pole by a strap of Velcro. That Velcro is loosing its grip. Not sure what I'll do at this point, but maybe install some grommets and use ball and bungee cord fasteners. All in all, for the price I think this awning is a pretty good deal. Treat it gently, and you should get quite a few uses out of it. ... show more

Update: Power vampire that I mentioned is false. Turning on the inverter on my battery bank is what is leeching the power. This thing uses 6 watts on and 0 off. The awning is still going strong and has proven it's toughness over and over. Again had to work hard fitting the awning back into the case nicely though. This time it was about 50 degrees and raining. Wish they had given it a bit more wiggle room so I wouldn't be such a chore. Also the elastic that holds the lid up is stretched out and no longer holds the lid up. Original Review: After my last cheap awning disintegrated in a light wind, I decided step up to an awning that can withstand some foul weather. The ARB hinges and connectors are still plastic like the cheap awnings, but the quality is a huge step up. Its very strong plastic and a solid size where the cheap awnings had connectors that were about half the size and felt like it was made out of bottle cap plastic. The awning material itself is also much thicker and heavier, and the aluminum feels much stronger. I'm still careful when I have the arms out unsupported, but the frame of the awning and brackets can support it with minimal flexing. I've already had this awning out in 20 mph and when tied down, barely moves. The optional led light is great. Bright, stays in the awning (which saves time and space in the car) and has 2 color options. I strongly suggest getting the leds as they come with a orangish color option which is great at night. (fyi the led uses about 6 watts. It also vampires a couple watts even when off) I only have a couple minor gripes and notes about this awning. It's heavy (reminder, this is for the hard case version). The awning felt sturdy with just 2 of the ARB brackets, but I added a 3rd for security. It is also recommended by ARB for the 2500 to add a 3rd bracket. Just the brackets cost $75 (25 each). The weight is also felt when rolling this thing back up. I can solo this awning without much trouble but my wife (who is about 5') cannot. Even with a step stool, she can't muscle it back in. When winter camping it gets even tougher to roll up nice and tight and has some trouble fitting back into the case. My first trip I had to reroll it about 3 times to get it to fit nicely and it still bulged out more than it does in warm weather. This makes closing the lid with the bungee style straps very difficult as they also lose their elasticity in the cold. I ended up leaning with all my body weight to push the lid closed while trying to strap it closed. The cold makes everything a bit harder and by the end my hands were freezing and my arms burning. Now as a hack in winter, I'll roll it up, use an external moving strap to keep the lid closed tight while I'm latching the bungee straps. I love this awning and really appreciate the build quality. I have never seen any other awning built as well as this one. it does add some weight which makes using it a bit more work then a cheap light weight awning. ... show more

I just installed this on my Jeep with the Rhino Rack roof rack. I had already purchased the brackets and they worked perfectly. The brackets come in pairs so I ordered two pair since I wanted to use 3 for this rather long awning. Since I had 4 brackets, I used them all. The quality of this awning is superb and I look forward to taking it out in the wild and using it. I deducted one star for the shipping. It was shipped via USPS and I got many updates before it got here. One said it was out for delivery on Sunday night, the next one said it was either lost or damaged and Amazon was in the process of giving me a refund once they got the lost item back (??). This morning I got an update saying the USPS tried to deliver it a 6:30 AM but my mailbox was full (??). I don't think it would fit in my tiny mailbox. I decided to go to my local post office this morning. They had it there and my wife and I had to lug it out to our Jeep and load it. I don't know why the post office couldn't deliver it to my door.
