When we started going to the pool we used the life vest they had. They were probably all donated at some point, the problem we ran in to is they didn't fit that well. The back would push her forward and it was a bit hard for her to keep her face out of the water. With the one we odered now it fits very well, has the perfect amount of float material and doesn't push her forward in the water as she is learning to swim. It does not have the strap that goes between the legs.It fits snug enough and is adjustable so that strap is not needed. ... show more

I purchased this vest based on the picture clearly showing a crotch strap. This does not have the strap. Returning this item. If you are not wanting the strap then it's a good quality vest. I feel more secure using a vest with my 5yr old Grandson, a "learner", with a strap to ensure the vest stays secure ... show more

I bought this for my daughter as her previous one was getting tight on her. This one was her weight/chest size, but the shoulders kept riding up on her making it not very comfortable. her other one had a crotch strap which was great. This one does not which is probably why it rides up on her.

Specifically got this because we wanted the strap between the legs and I made absolute sure I ordered that one. (Hard to find a coast guard approved youth jacket with a crotch strap) Disappointed that it did not provide that.
