    • Actually works way better than expected! Powerful and Simple
I don't normally write reviews; a person normally receives about what they expected based on price, materials, construction, etc. I've used several powered gravel cleaners/water changers. All worked, to some extent or another, and all were a pain in the a$$ to use. This pump is powerful, super easy to use, it really moves the water, and does a great job cleaning the gravel once you learn to turn the pump power down a little. The battery charges fast and lasts forever (I did a 25% water change and cleaned gravel in a 55 gallon and 20 gallon tank this morning, and the battery indicator didn't even drop one light). The variable speed dial is awesome - all the others I've used were all or nothing and the switch wasn't even close to the handle. When transferring water back into my tanks (unless I'm doing a 100% drain and set up) I pre-treat water in 5 gallon buckets. Before the pumps would always leave a couple of inches of water in the bottom of the buckets and you'd have to pour it into tank. THIS pump sucks the water all the way down until there's almost nothing at all left in the bucket. If (like me) you don't have the gravel screen in and accidently suck up some gravel into the motor, no worries. the ends of the actual pump quickly screw off and on; I screwed off the ends with a twist, rinsed it out, spun the ends back on and was back at it in maybe 90 seconds. The case it comes in works great as a storage case. it's thick hard cardboard with a full open lid. inside is a water-proof foam cut out to hold the individual parts. take out the pieces you need, do what you needed to do, put the pieces back in their spots in the cut-out foam, close the lid and put it away. No more loosing pieces or rummaging in a spare box of extra junk for something. If you need a gravel cleaner or are looking for an easier way to do water changes - I don't think you can find anything better than this perhaps at even twice it's price. I think the product overall is nice and easy. I just realize the suction duct where the water passes through is bit too narrow. So when I cleaned up my algae stuff from the tank, the algae gets stuck leading to a slower water flow. Also, it makes things a bit difficult to clean. But otherwise it is working fine and I’ll keep it for an easier water change. ... show more

We liked this vacuum…. You will need to charge it up before use. The cord for this is short!!! We liked using it but halfway through it stopped working…. So we think it wasn’t fully charged. It did an amazing job otherwise

    • Works….but it’s a waste of $$ for battery power
Well it works. But I had to plug in the AC adapter and it’s a short cord. I had the unit plugged in to charge the power handle for 24 hours. That should have been long enough? Probably returning for just the regular electric one. Too hard to deal with only having about 2’ of cord.

Hello, I have 160gallons fish tank. I bough this device to use is as vacuum to clean fish tank bottom. Looking at pictures it makes impression of the device, that can suck in water and dirt, get it through tubes and pump out at the other end. This is wrong impression, unfortunately. The way its pump contructed, it has tine little holes around sucking rotor, and they get clogged instantly. If you put in sponge filters - then it get full and clogged instantly - again, no way to use for med and large sized tanks. This device is just pump. Might only be used for pumping out water, not for bottom cleaning. ... show more
