Because I have so many, one of them always needs to be replaced, and I actually stumbled onto this one. I always have high hopes when promised a great product when buying pillows and sheets (sheet snob, too) and am often disappointed. Too picky? I don't know. I know what I like. This pillow gets my stamp of approval. I am using as is, I didn't remove anything. It's wonderful.
