Top Amazon Reviews

  • Great condition, arrived quickly!
Style: 1.2GHz Dual Core M3 Color: Space Gray Capacity: 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD
THIS IS A LONG REVIEW SO ITS SEPARATED INTO 3 PARTS WITH AN UPDATE TO COME. SKIP TO WHAT IS RELEVANT TO YOU AND I HOPE THIS HELPS! THE BACKGROUND: I am a masters student and visual artist. I used apple products solely to do both my school work and art pieces. up until now I was using a 2013 Macbook Pro and it finally became so obsolete I was forced to upgrade. normally I would go straight to the apple store and spend entirely too much money for my students budget, however my younger sister recently bought a refurbished MacBook Air on amazon that works wonders so I thought I'd give it a try. THE FIRST IMPRESSION: First things first, this arrived promptly! It literally made it to me within less than 7 days of ordering it and before the estimated arrival time. The reviews for this MacBook were pretty mixed, but I noticed the the bulk of the bad reviews were: packaging complaints and cosmetic complaints. With the understanding that this is a refurbished computer, personally, I didn't mind those two things. Mine came in a standard computer shipping box, though it could've been packed more securely I have no complaints there. As far as cosmetics, there were 3 scratches/smudges that are so minuscule you can't even see them in the photos I've posted. Besides, my preference is to cover my laptop in stickers and a clear case so none of the cosmetic issues will be seen either way in my case. As far as the functionality of the laptop It turns on and runs perfectly so far. The screen is bright, the keyboard lights up and dims, it opens and shuts just fine. I was able to easily connect to the internet and attach my Apple ID, information and preferences. You can upgrade for free to the latest operating system for free (which I did) or choose to keep the one that it comes installed with. All in all, I am completely satisfied with this purchase as of 2 days in, but stay tuned for an update closer to the end of my 90 day return period. THINGS TO CONSIDER: I would just like to note that this laptop while in great condition is extremely small and delicate. If you are someone that has a high risk of this thing being dropped, hit, smushed I would really consider looking at a MacBook pro instead. I previously owned one for years before switching to this and it survived a lot of aggressive movements. I attached a photo of the 12" MacBook air next to my 11" iPad Pro to illustrate how tiny and thin this thing is. ... show more

  • Unit arrive promptly in Apple packaging and in mint condition
Style: 1.3GHz Dual Core i5 Color: Gold Capacity: 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD
I confess I'm a "cult" fan of the MacBook 12. I bought two for the house when the 2017's came out - "his and hers." However, I wish that I could have gotten one with the i5 or even better the i7 with 16mg of ram. So this week when Apple announced they were discontinuing the line I eventually spotted this unit on Amazon. It was significantly less in cost than other colors. Could it really be because it was "gold?" I took a chance. An i5 unit with twice the storage as my first ones. Well the unit didn't make it in one day but a lone motorcyclist showed up at 9 am the following morning - with just my package. The MacBook was shrink-wrapped in an original apple box and all of the packaging looked new. At first I thought I saw some scuff marks but they were on the wrapping- interesting. The computer itself is in mint, like-new, condition. The first thing I did was look up the cycles on the battery and there were only 9. The computer was probably a return used only for a very short period of time. I had to upgrade it first to Catalina before migrating my data from my old MacBook - destined for a family member in need. I have it set up to run Parallels and Windows 10, Office, etc. Everything is perfect. The key to this unit as far as longevity and warranty is really the lone usb-c port. If it goes bad (and I know of two which did, both, coincidentally, in the rose-gold flavor) there's no way to charge it without getting it replaced. All I can say is this unit "renewed" arrived looking more like new, and the original apple packaging and power supply were a nice touch. All in all pleased especially considering how much I saved compared to the other i5's available in silver or gray. ... show more

  • It was too old.
Style: 1.2GHz Dual Core M3 Color: Gold Capacity: 12-12.99 inches
I should have looked at the previous reviews. Like all the other reviews, this one had significant issues. The battery is at 70% health and the several keys on the key board don’t work. It also will not support the latest MacOS, so it was a complete waste for me since it can’t run the one application I needed it for. ... show more

  • Got a full refund.
Style: 1.3GHz Dual Core i5 Color: Space Gray Capacity: 12-12.99 inches
I got this MacBook because it’s the perfect size. It would have been my second one. Unfortunately, there were a few dents and the K key didn’t work. I applied for a refund. I reset the whole computer, which was a bit difficult and required that I contact Apple Support. I returned the computer and got a full refund a few days later. So it worked out in the end. Would do business with the seller again if it means I get a working machine. ... show more

  • Satisfied Overall
Style: 1.3GHz Dual Core i5 Color: Space Gray Capacity: 12-12.99 inches
I ordered the refurbished MacBook 12", 2017 version after dropping my MacBook Pro 13" and breaking the screen. Given the high cost of a replacement screen ($350+), grabbing the smaller MacBook with greater storage/memory for only $100 more seemed to make sense. Thus far, I have been really happy with most everything about the Baby MacBook! It's crazy light, easy to use and the screen is brilliant. I am slightly disappointed that it came to me with a notice that the battery needed maintenance. I would have thought battery replacement would be part of the refurbishment process. Secondly, the top has some 'play' in the hinges which is a bit aggravating, although not to the point of being a major issue. I would make the same purchase again if I had it to do over! Overall, I love the MacBook 12" and even though its processor isn't as powerful than my MacBook Pro, I still prefer it over the latter. UPDATE: I ended up returning this MacBook and ordered a new MacBook Air (latest version from Amazon). In addition to the loose screen hinges and impaired battery life, I subsequently discovered there were some issues with the keyboards on these models- Some would stick or stop working at all. In my case, the 'Return' tab required a very forceful tap to function. I loved the size, weight and design of the 12" MacBook overall put, but given that I was going to have to deal with frustrating issues or spend more money to make it right, I elected to return it, spend a bit more and go with a new Mac. The new MacBook Air is absolutely brilliant and I am really glad I went with it. ... show more
